you could be right. i spent a summer in Durham, NC and asked people about it and they told me only the really old fans even remembered the song. it's been years since i watched sports with the sound on more than about 15% of the time....so, i dunno. as simplistic as Boomer Sooner is....it's ironic the melody is lifted from Yale's Boola Boola and the words from the Heels. you can imagine the "land thief, thieving fight songs, and thieving wayward Texas recruits" abuse that is typical on UT (and now lately ATM) boards....when they get their "We're Texas" (land of sophistication, not strip malls)....and barren Oklahoma (strip malls, not sophistication) thing going.

I remember being pissed when we didn't get Pryor. But really we couldn't have ever been a consideration. Pryor wanted a place where he was above the rules and could do whatever he want....so c-bus was the place for him. There is no other way to explain going to a program that was so ill fitting his skill set as an athlete. RR's offense was made for guys like Pryor, it was such a natural fit. I knew it was crooked when he chose osu. In retrospect I am thrilled that he chose to take his talents to c-bus. Scumbags begets scumbags.

My point is that he can't leave quietly...he still has to crack back at Michigan when he left his program in flames. The guy resigned so go away already and let Fickell worry about the Michigan game. Fickell is already in unenviable position of taking over after this mess and now his predecessor is bumping his gums. It's not like the game didn't matter already but now the ex-coach is still spitting venom at the hated rival when he's got nothing to do with the game anymore. If Fickell said that, I'd say fine and bring it on...Tressel doesn't matter anymore. He's gone...fuck him!

It's not just the years of beating Michigan but it was all the talk of Tressel being made out to be some pillar of integrity and class but he turned out to be a fraud...it's more salt in the wound and more of a reason to hate the guy. If he was still on the job and he continued to pummel Michigan but he did everything by the book, you can't really do or say anything about it. The guys in the uniforms change every 3 or 4 years but it's that smug son of a bitch in the sweater vest killing Michigan every year meanwhile running a crooked program...that's where my new anger comes from. Winning is one thing but winning and being crooked is another. If the guy went on and coached 25 years in Columbus and owned our asses and owned the conference and won a few national titles...you can hate the guy but can at least respect him at the same time for being successful. But when the shit hits the fan, the respect goes away and the hate only grows. The game this year will have such an odd feel given there isn't just a new guy on the Michigan sideline, you don't have Mr. Rogers on the sideline either.

According to the lawyer provided for the 9 players implicated by SI...he has stated that they are gathering the inventory of the memorabilia, they have already talked to the NCAA investigators and based on the questions and what not HE (notice I did not say NCAA or anyone else but the lawyer) did not see they had any evidence to suspend the players or that they had broken any rules...


so what if the rules were only broken by the original 5 and all we have is other heresay from axe grinders (Sup Ray Small)...what then? He still broke the rules as did the players...they are suspended for 5 games and he stepped down (well the rumor is was fired)...he pays one ultimate price (loses a great job)...and those players of which 4 of the 5 are seniors lose 1/2 their senior year...what then?

I think whether it's 5 or 50 guys selling shit and driving sweet rides the problem is with the coach, AD, and compliance dept.

Steve...yeah it does sicken me...but not being a college athlete and having people fawing over you, making you out to be bigger than you are...I have never been in that position...so I can't comment on the temptation...

I always say this about the idiots who ruin their careers by doing something stupid (drugs, robberies, cheating)...all they have to do is play football, eat, study a bit, nail hot ass chicks and wait for their number on draft day (after their junior year)...doesn't sound that hard, but somehow the sense of entitlement overwhelms these kids

And I really don't know what Small had to gain...i know he had multiple chances to get out of JT's Doghouse (he was in it quite a bit)...but he did what he did and it's out there...
