Hell no I haven't forgot about any of the Colts playoff losses. I also haven't forgotten about the slaughter by Tennessee in the dome in '99. I haven't forgotten about the loss in Miami in '00.mvscal wrote:
Forgot about that 41-0 drubbing by the Jets, did you? Can't say that I blame you.
Face it, the only team he can get over on in the playoffs is the Donks.
But you see, that actually fits into this argument. Because just like the Brady vs. Manning argument ALWAYS does, this has turned into a debate of who has the most help. Does the QB touch the ball on ever play? Yes. But the defense has to make stops to get him the ball. The running back has to not drop it. The receivers have to catch it. The O-line has to block well.
So you bring up the 41-0 to the Jets. Take that and any Colts playoff game in the Peyton era before that and what do you see? The tripletts. That's it. Manning, James, Harrrison. But anyway, the Colts D has been non existent for that entire era. And in the playoffs, if you only have three players to look out for, it's not going to be hard to beat them. Since that Jets game, we've seen the emergence of Reggie Wayne, Brandon Stokely, Dallas Clark, Dominic Rhodes as a solid backup to James. But still, no D.
And that just goes to prove the old saying that "Defense wins championshps." Tom Brady's had it all along, Peyton hasn't.
Now to get specific, yes I remember the Jets game like it was yesterday. I remember a Colts D that couldn't tackle Curtis Martin, at all. I remember passes bouncing off the hands of Marcus Pollard and landing in the hands of the Jets D. I remember an O-line that couldn't block anybody that day.
