Argument always was..

Whose the best SS?

A-Rod, Nomah or Jeter..

The answer is now clear..

Jeter

A-Rod stood out as the best for the longest ime.. but he does not play well under pressure.

Nomar took over the reigns as THE BEST for a very short time... before injuries took over...

Jeter was always consistently the 2nd best SS offensively and defensively until the Post Season (and must win games) and there he was no doubt #1 in both categories.

Dude handles the pressure better than the other 2. He actually handles pressure among the greatest that have ever played the game.

What about Tejada?

A-Rod will always be the most intimidating presence at the plate because of his ability to go deep at any time. He's a solid glove at third and he was reliable at short. His biggest flaw was shown again this year...he doesn't show up when it matters most. Jeter is a clutch performer...he'll go into the Hall because of his ability to come up big. Jeter's numbers won't blow everyone away but he's been a key contributor to one of the most successful modern dynasties. Nomar unfortunately has fallen on hard times with the fall out in Boston and now with his inability to stay healthy. The best shortstop in the league right now is Tejada...the combination of glove and bat. Jeter isn't dropped a bit down the totem pole of shortstops but he's had the most successful career out of the big three. In the AL, I'd rank them: Tejada, Michael Young, Jeter, Jhonny Peralta, Carlos Guillen (homer pick)

If you are bringing Nomar and A-Rod into this conversation, then we might as well bring Cal Ripken in as well sine one of the other of those is either washed up or is not a SS anymore.

He's at 1936 hits right now at age 31. If he keeps up his current pace, he'll have in 5-1/2 or 6 seasons.

Yep. @2000 hits in 10 full years, barring a massive injury he can play another 10 - 15 yrs. Might end up around 3200-3400 hits. Say what you want but Jeter is a hiting machine. He has the power too. He could probably hit 30 HR a year, but he's always been a leadoff or No2 hitter. Any other team and he's a 3 or 5 hitter.
