i don't know about those other venues, but the Exit/In in Nashville is a legendary and most venerable dive of alt/indie/"college" music history.

that would be a GREAT show. place is not big at all--just a few blocks from the Vanderbilt campus. when i was in college i saw a ton of excellent bands there, many who never made it but were friggin' great live--during the so-called "southern jangle pop" years. though the scene was much more diverse. even still, i was under the impression Exit/In had closed. hmph.

i guess i'll put on Elephant Riders. and pretend. great pizza place across the street inna day: Obie's.

Funny that you mention Exit/In. According to Pitchfork the owner is suing David Cross for using his likeness without permission. Apparently he's upset for being portrayed as a big tool.

most bar/club managers *are* big tools. and spend a lot of time acting like they have one.

exit/in (and most places in Nashville) used to take the worst fake ID known to history, for that alone i am eternally grateful--and Georgia girls from the rich Atlanta suburbs, i'm thankful for them too.
