27 first downs. 116 yds rushing. 4 turnovers,

....... yet only 7 pts off those OSU turnovers.
Stanton (Unreal again) 26-36 = 340 yds and 1 TD.
Evidently, Mich. State doesn't know how the fuck to kick a god damn football. The block before the half. And the block with 7:00 to go.
Christ. To think that the sucky assed Spartans are a mere
FIELD GOAL KICKER from being 6-0, and ranked about 5th!
Ohio State's defense, although giving up yardage in bunches to Stanton, continually came up with big plays. With Michigan State ahead 24-21 and just under 9 minutes left, Troy Smith was hit by MSU's Michael Bazemore and fumbled the ball away at his own 22, Clifton Ryan recovering for the Spartans.
But Michigan State, which had 456 total yards, gained just three yards on three plays before John Goss' 37-yard field goal attempt was blocked by Youboty.
Stanton, leading the nation in pass efficiency, completed 26-of-36 passes for 340 yards and a touchdown.
"It's difficult," he said. "These important games come down to one or two huge plays."
The Buckeyes defense came up big when needed. The Spartans finished with 27 first downs and 456 total yards, but mustered just four first downs and 70 yards in the fourth quarter.
Like I said, OSU's home field, and us not being able, nor willing to put teams away. (With things like making chipshot FG's and/or not getting them blocked.)
Fuck it. We're still in it for a New Years Day game. This team is back. And I know all of you know it. There's just some tweeking we HAVE to correct, or we flounder at 3-4 losses from here on into the future; maybe forever, I guess; if we can't execute a simple goddamn field goal! Maye CHECK someone on the deep post!!!

Interesting breakdown, I saw a few mistakes but I think your real problem is JLS--while he has brought you around for some wins, there is something about him that will hold you back.

John LL shit the bed in another big game...no shock there. You can hang your hat on the Notre Dame win but State nearly pissed that one away. With no national title or BCS aspirations for Michigan now...my only wish is to watch State's promising season to go up in flames and finish behind the Wolverines in the standings.

No surprise that MSU botched another game they had in hand.

I thought MSU's offense was better than OSU's defense, and Stanton was more than they could handle when he got the ball off. MSU just choked it away in classic fashion once again, like only they know how to do. I don't understand how you can capitalize on 3 turnovers in one half and only be up ten points. Props to OSU for not folding when they appeared to play the worst half of football I've seen any team play in a long time.
But hey, at least we didn't lose to Oregon State.

Christ  I can't believe this got by you people. Must be a bunch of asskissers in here for PSUfan, eh?
Or maybe they all missed that game in AA just two nights ago?
Has to be it. Most of them musta been watching ND-SC. Yeah. That's it.

No babs...PSU would be correct...they would have been up 17-7 at half...say what you want about the 2nd half but you have no idea how it would have played out had MSU made the field goal...PSU is going on the assumption that the 3 points and a 2 TD lead would be possibly enough considering how "Great" the OSU offense performed at Happy Valley...
not that much of a stretch if you ask me...especially considering tOSU put the ball on the floor a few times...
that being said not sure what to be...relieved or pissed...glad we got the win, but there are still issues in Buckeye Nation...again I am all for consistency with your scheme and what not...now I like tOSU's chances for possibly winning out considering PSU still has to play Iowa and MSU...

Uh......... did you even watch the game?
MSU was about to go up
20-7, not 17-7. The block and runback made it 17-14 @ half. With huge 'Mo for tOSU.
And my contention was; that how ironic it is, that PSU is talking about wasting one away that we had in hand. Did you miss the whole 2nd half of the PSU - UM game too!? PSU was up 18-10 with 9:00 to go. THEN, took the lead again with their own late TD; after UM tied it at 18, (and took a 3 point lead on a career long 47 yd FG by Rivas!), by FOUR with LESS than a minute left!!!
"Wasted away a game in hand." = PSU @ UM.

Actually _sc, Penn State does not play Iowa this season. The fact that there are currently five teams tied for 1st place in the conference, it is interesting to see what games will
not be taking place...
Iowa vs. Penn State
Wisconsin vs. Michigan State
N'Western vs. Minnesota
Ohio State vs. Wisconsin
Michigan State vs. Iowa

The meltdown as he was running into the lockerroom with "padner" Jack Arute was outstanding as well. I RACKED it, big-time, along with the highlight of his melt on the sidelines. Damn ABC was showing the Texas blowout here. Fuckers.

No, the real clincher for all of us in Mich., is to watch scUM fan railing excuses about injuries, like their pathetic hoops program does every season, and LLLoyd and co. being reduced to "spoilers" in the B10 !!!
That's the fun of this season.
MSU is staring a nice Bowl @ 9-2, and scUM is "spoilers", looking at El Paso or Nashville!!!

Yet in their worst year in 21 seasons, they walked into your crib and beat you, in your best year in about 20 seasons.

Tell me where I'm off, dip shit. Your season? You're right, you had a solid season in '99. My bad. Your second best season in 20 years. This is UofM's worst start in over 20 years. Yet they still beat you, when they were unranked, in your crib.

How does that saying go...don't count your chickens before you actually win 9 games?
I look at the Big Ten standings right now and you're tied with Indiana for 8th place. You can't go to a nice Bowl when you're in the bottom half of the conference. You're 4-2 to Michigan's 4-3...you're not exactly leaving them in the dust plus you lost the head-to-head. Yeah, the Wolverines are having a down year but a down year for the Wolverines would be a good year for the Spartans. If after 11 games, you finish with a better record than Michigan, you can talk trash. Right now, you're a half game better overall and a half game worse in the conference than the Wolverines...you have very little to boast about. You won at Notre Dame which is impressive...that's the only thing you can hang over our heads since we didn't beat them. Other that, you lost to them on the field and you're record isn't much better right now. Slow your roll...

Whatever. Killians just an ass, who needs to retire here.
I know one thing. Minn., NW, Pur., Indy and PSU are all winnable with that team you've all seen play.
One coaching blunder, and FG kicker, and we're 6-0 looking at the sky as the limit.
Roll will NOT slow.

I need to retire? Because I have quality takes? You can't argue anything I've said because you know, even in your myopic little mind, that it's fact.
And those are all beatable teams. But you'll lose to at least one of them because of coaching.
Even with a field goal kicker, you still would have lost the UofM game.
And the roll will slow, because you have John L., and because you're MSU.

N'western and Minnesota scare me almost as much as Penn St. because of those high octane offenses, which is normally scary, but it's scarier for MSU considering they cannot defend the pass, the rush, nor can they tackle. I'm setting the over/under at about 147 for those games.

for all the slobbering babs does over john smith's coaching, you'd think the guy could coach. the reason msu didn't go into the lockerroom up 20-7 was (1) the kicker would've missed it anyhow and (2) the coaching staff obviously wasn't too cool under pressure.
not too many ppl are impressed with a team that "should" be 6-0 and ranked no.5.
