Detroit Lions = Pathetic

I can understand why the Lions are not out there trying to get a new QB: a) they need one who can run the West Coast offense; and b) Garcia will be healthy in a week or so.
But, damn it, they cannot get any worse with taking Harrington out and putting in Orlovski. Harrington is regressing. It was only because of an 86-yard play that Harrington gets over 100 yards yesterday and the two weeks before he barely got there.
This is pathetic. The defense is now calling out Mooch commenting that maybe the defense should play offense so the Lions could score offensively (Mooch totally divested himself of defense and totally focuses on offense). The offensive line guys are criticizing the blocking schemes in addition to criticizing Joey in the local rags. Anyone catch the C Raiola cussing out Harrington on the field and then blasting the coaches right after to get the plays in more quickly?
Unbelieveable. With two years on his contract at $5 mill per, you'd think that Mooch was untouchable...no way...it sounds like his job is in real jeaopardy.
Yet, these turds are in first place in the NFC North.

Finally , a post from MelTroit that doesn't blame the media .
Moochie pulled one of the most gutless moves in a playoff game I've ever seen : kneeling down the ball before the first half ended against the Bucs a few years back . Now , the Niners were getting killed , but that sent the message that they could not compete with the Bucs on any level that game , and a coach , no matter how bad the game gets , should not rip any confidence from his team . That was the last straw in his career here in SF . He has a great offensive mind though , and when he took over for Seifert , the team rolled . But his Rah-Rah approach is more for a College team , rather than the Pro's .
If he can't bring the Lions to show at least some of the potential they have assembled as far as talent goes ( and they do have some ) by the end of this season , then both he and Millen should leave . As bad as that division is , if they can't make a run for the division title while it's up for grabs , it's time to pull the plug on them .

I just don't see that, at all. Not this year, not last year...

Well, this appears to be Millen's fault, 100%. Millen is sold on Harrington, while Mooch is not. Millen has been talking about surrounding Harrington with better players and that that would get Harrington on point. Wrong.
Mooch talking about how he needs to do more to help Harrington kinda demonstrates that Mooch is ready to bench this fool as it essentially declares that Joey's unable to help himself.

I love Millen - but Millen's not GM material. This will not end well.

There is simply no justification as to why this asshat is General Manager of the Lions.....unless he has pictures of Ford in a compromising position...
from the Lions website
With a paramount desire to steer the Lions’ franchise in a new direction and rise among the NFL’s top-tiered teams, Lions Chairman and Owner William Clay Ford appointed Matt Millen to the position of president and CEO January 9, 2001. Millen, who begins his fifth year, assumed full control over the team’s football operations and has been forging his knowledge and attitude about the game into the team’s development since he began directing day-to-day operations of the organization.
Since Millen’s arrival in Detroit, he has re-structured the organization, both on and off the field, with moves that have had a positive impact on the team’s goal to claim a Super Bowl crown.
Working in concert with the Lions player Personnel Department, Millen has re-vamped the roster through adept drafting and selective free agent signings. Only three players (defensive end Jared DeVries, kicker Jason Hanson and fullback Cory Schlesinger) he inherited remain on the team.
His recent drafts have been widely acclaimed among the best by national media. In fact, the Sporting News and ESPN.com rated his 2003 and 2004 drafts the very best in the NFL.
Fuck, did he write it himself? I know of nobody that thinks any of these things are even remotely true.....

The need to Boot Millen and bring in a solid QB..with Garcia back next week- it should be a good stop-gap until next year. They need seriously pursue some QB talent this off season- either sign someone (not sure who will be available) or trade up and go early in the draft- pick up Leiner from...

I'm guessing old Matt will go after a really talented receiver.....you can never have enough good receivers.....

Garcia would say he's ready to play next Sunday, but I think that's wishful thinking. This is the earliest he could come back and it's not a sure thing that he would be any better. On the other hand, by bringing in Orlovski, at least the players would get the impression that management is doing something...anything...
And Millen has never been really liked in this town, either by the media guys or by fans...no one really knows what this guys qualifications were nor the merit of the decision.

Well, it almost makes sense if you knew that last season Rodgers might not be available this season either with another injury or the drug problem (he had priors). It almost makes sense...on the other hand, they could have improved their offensive line, .
Their O-line is horrible....simply horrible. They need a lot of help there...

I'd be happy to give them Tim Rattay for one of them .
The odd thing : Moochie is reputed to be a QB guru .

Man, with the reputation that Mooch came in with I remember thinking at the time that his record with SF was not very good at all and I didn't recall him being some offensive genius that turned out rushers like the Broncos or lit up the air like the Vikings or others...

Farve gives him a lot of credit for his development , and Moochie's first few years with the Niners were pretty stellar . But he had Rice , Owens , and Garrison Hearst on his team . Garcia made 3 Pro Bowls under Moochie too . He also had Bill Walsh drafting and building the team for him . York and Donahue pulled the plug on him though , and fukked the Niners good .
But , I still can't forgive him for wasting first round draft picks , like Druckenmiller over Jake Plummer , and R.W. McQuarters .
If Moochie gets canned , and Sherman gets canned in GB , Moochie may get a chance in GB , if Favre stays for a couple more years .

I hate McQuarters, but the local sports reporters here have a real hard-on for him. I guess my real complaint about the guy is the faggoty hair-do. I also hated that guy who played for GB and now with Minnesota that had the faggoty hair extensions. Though recently, he's improved his db play and done a fine job replacing Drummond returning kicks.
