RACK Rich Gannon...

Will somebody give this fucking guy a coaching gig within the Raider organization please?
Rich Gannon wrote:They (Raiders) don't get big plays out of their defense. No interceptions, no sacks. It's hard to win in this league if you aren't doing that.
On offense, they're 31st in rushing. What was a major problem a year ago -- they were the worst team in the National Football League at running the ball, the worst team in rushing attempts, they're still not running the ball effectively enough.
And if you really want to get into the nitty-gritty, just look at the Raiders' competitiveness and success when I was in there and when I was not in there.
The biggest thing is -- as an outsider looking in, which I am now -- you look at this football team: Where are the guys, the Ray Lewises, the Ed Reeds, the forceful leaders, dynamic personalities? When I look at them, that's my first question. Who's accepting ownership? Who's accepting responsibility for this?
RACK fucking Gannon.
Fuck I miss that cat.......
Some other good shit here:
John Ryan: "As a player, one of your main points of contention was that we in the press box, and even guys like Phil Simms and Joe Theismann in the TV booth, made snap judgments about what went wrong without knowing what was supposed to happen. Have you gotten comfortable calling things just by the way they look from upstairs?"
Rich Gannon:``Oh, yeah. I know the system in Oakland.
I watch a lot of film each week. I pride myself on still doing that and keeping up. There's going to be times when the ball is thrown down the middle. You have to make your best assumption, and you say that. But there's things that Simms, Theismann, guys who played the game can see about coverages or blitzes. I could always tell those things, from the sidelines or from the press box.''
Christ-dude is a fucking machine......he
still watches gametape and breaks shit down? Fucking superb.

Well, he'd be better off coaching than being a field reporter. Saw his act the other day and he could barely get thru two sentences without stepping on his dick. Reminds me of his squirrely ass QB career, now that I think about it.
Oh, and Jamesy? It's bad enough watching you swing from an
active players jock, but you're really stretching the strap with a
retired has been, you knob slobbing, ass felching, manjuice swilling faggot!
Hey! Homosmack
IS fun!

Yeah right. Like he'd take shit from Alvis. Al would fire him after two games and then Gannon would go on to coach championship teams somewhere else.
rack it, you FUCK......

Gannon is pretty much on target there.
Microcosm off his leadership and accountability take:
Week 3 at Philadelphia. David Akers kicks the go-ahead FG with 12 seconds left. 23-20 Eagles. He is kicking on ONE leg, basically. He kicks off to Chris Carr, who fields the ball at the 32 yd line.......and then proceeds to run backwards (and everywhichway) until he hits the ground as time expires, game OVER.
Carr needed to HIT THE GROUND IMMEDIATELY upon receiving the kick. Oakland would then have a CHANCE to hit a long pass and then have a CHANCE to kick a very long FG to tie the game.
The kick receiving team needed to know EXACTLY what they needed to do BEFORE going on the field, andSOMEBODY's head needed to roll at the conclusion of that LOSS.
No accountability.
I think there are a few 'leaders' on the D side of the ball.
On offense, I see none.
Collins....?
Let's just say I don't see a lot, honestly.
Norv....?
Not feeling it.
I'm not sure at all that Oakland can get where it needs to go with both Norv and KCollins manning their respective slots.

I don't think Oakland ever recovered after Gannon's meltdown in the Super Bowl .

Of course they didnt. But it didnt have jack fucking shit to do with Gannon having one of the worst games of his career.
In fact, he was the lone bright spot in the shitpile that was the next season. Fucking guy just took hit after hit the next year until he ended up hurt.
Lincoln Kennedy pretty much summed that year and super bowl debacle with this quote: "In the biggest game of our lives, the entire offensive line pee'd down thier legs. We're just not the same"
Place your fucking blame elsewhere, dickhead-Rich played his fucking guts out every Sunday-and it isnt his fault his line admittingly dessipated to shit. I thought you were smarter than this, drummer.

The team itseslf went into a malaise as far as attitude and as a team . Buchanon and Woodson acted like babies the next season , Callahan called the team stupid , and even Brown finally spoke out about the situation . Gannon wasn't liked much in the locker room , and was known as THE red ass on the team . Kennedy alludes to this sometimes on the radio , which a lot of the Raider soap opera of the last 3 years was played out on KNBR , which I listen to everyday . Hey , I'm not making this shit up . There is a lot more to it than I care to explain to you . But a lot of people in Oakland know this .
I'm not knocking Gannon . He was the best Raider QB they had in years . But he did have one of the worst games in his career in the biggest game of his career , against his former coach , who was let go by his then current owner . One could think that Gannon's comments could be a case of sour grapes , being that the fans were craving for a Collins start over Gannon before his injury , and when Collins finally got that start , he showed he wasn't as poised as Gannon was ( Jimmy Johnson called it before that game in the NFL on Fox , " Wait until he starts throwing all those picks , then we will see what Raider fans think about Collins " , to which Collins turned the ball over 3 or 4 times that game ) . You may be the only fan who wanted Gannon's ultra efficient dink and dunk WCO offense that got him an MVP , but the rest were still craving the 'ol " Vertuchul passing game " with Collins . Now where are the Raiders ?
Gannon had one of the worst games a QB could have in the SB , period . And the team had one of the worst slides a team could have the next season after appearing in the SB , period . But , the team was still melting after that SB appearance , period . And the Raiders signed Collins while Gannon was still the QB , period .
Maybe the one who really blames Gannon for the loss in the SB is Davis .

There are quite a bit of different things that stood out in that article-but for the beginning portion of your post, you mention lincoln kennedy alluding to the fact that Gannon was not very well liked in the locker room........but its common knowledge he wasnt liked because he was a fucking HARD ASS that wanted
every last player in said locker room to be as disciplined as he was, which was never going to happen.
"I'm a jerk...I've always been a jerk. That's just the way I was brought up. This position is one where you have to be very comfortable in front of a crowd and saying what you believe." -Rich Gannon, 1999.
There were quite a few incidents in which Gannon blasted the fuck out of partying players for coming to practice or the games and looking tired or playing subpar because of it.
To me, that is fucking NAILZ.
Problem is, Al himself even let that shit go "As long as they came to play on Sundays".
To me, it isnt sour fucking grapes on Gannons part-I think it pisses him off and hurts him to see the team he will always have his years of greatness associated with so damn fucked up. The rich gannon of 3 years ago couldve guided this team to the playoffs and competed for a title. again.-and he knows it.
The verticle offense is a fucking joke that makes for "exciting" losses. It isnt a system that will translate into wins in todays NFL.....Al doesnt fucking get that-and never will.
as far as this goes:
drummer wrote:Kennedy alludes to this sometimes on the radio , which a lot of the Raider soap opera of the last 3 years was played out on KNBR
Kennedy's fatass admitted that him and the
entire offensive line "Pee'd down our legs in the biggest game of our careers". He can go fuck himself for acting like a bitch 3 years later about it. Show me one fucking QB that can win games on his fucking back and being pressured the second the ball snaps..........
You cant. He doesnt exist.
Good Post Drummer-RACK it.

Gannon didn't throw all those INTs from his back though . But , the Raiders ran into a buzzsaw who had thier number , and thier nose literally in the Raider playbook .
*edit*
I don't feel Collins is the type of QB that can pick a defense apart like Gannon could ( and shred ) , but that might do more with the game plan than Collins . My guess is both figure into that .

Tempted to go pick-by-pick and briefly evaluate each guy selected, but I'll spare y'all that tedium.
Bottom line is that there are some very nice picks there mixed in with some not-so-good ones, and a few flat out clunkers.
I'd grade Oakland about a C on it's cumulative drafts '00-'05.
I would have liked to have seen better, but it could have been WAY worse, IMO.
Not much different than what you'd see if we tossed ANY NFL team's draft picks over a 5 yr span up for all to look at.
My take is that in the modern NFL (where the playing field is, by virtue of the league's 'parity' agenda, fairly level) COACHING is huge.
The teams that get over are generally well coached.
Those that become also-rans are not well coached.
What it's all about is taking the talent on a given roster and MAKING it into something.
The talent level from team to team is just not all that different, if you ask me.
You've got to have a reasonable QB though. If that is in place a good coach can find a way to notch wins with the rest of what he has at his disposal.
My point is that a number of guys on that list that have not distinguished themselves in the NFL could have if they had been LED by someone who could help maximize their ability.
Oakland has been a ship without a STURDY rudder since they got their shit packed by TB in the Super Bowl.

Jerry Porter hasn't been too happy not getting the ball thrown his way , due to the focus of Moss . If Moss doesn't play , Porter has to step up this game . Although the Raiders will probably focus on the ground game more against the Bills .
If the Raiders lose this one , it will be a very ugly locker room after .

If by "significant portion" you mean the time it takes him to type the words, you may have a point. On the other hand, I'm guessing James could out-type you even if he was only allowed to type with his feet- and had to keep his shoes on. Which, also roughly corresponds to the rate at which he out-thinks you.
