What's with the rb's last name? It's hyphonated...which one is his maiden name?

This is Mexifornia, where the weather is good, people have distractions, and more than half the population still think football means never using your hands....

The hypen is for his grandfather "JONES" that died in the stands during a game earlier this year...

can burn you with a punt return, or run one for 80 yards up the gut. i believe he's honoring his grandfather, who had heart attack in the stands while watching him play at UCLA. he died in hospital later that night(?)

I love LA's excuse for being a shit sports town. There's too much to do bah, blah, blah. Give me a freakin break. I live in Florida, where weather is our major industry. Check out the stands in Gainsville, or Tally. Ever been to NY? The weather sucks much of the year, there's more to do there than most places on the planet and the Yankees draw 4 mil. And if you're selling LA as a soccer town...bbbwwwaaahahahahahahaa.

Why would anybody pay money to see them play?

I won't even watch them for free on TV, unless of course they're playing somebody good like USC or Stanford.

Nice little season you're putting together there. Would you care to discuss history of the two teams. I think not. See we pack the BigHouse because we're a tradition rich program. You had a nice little BB run in the 60's and 70's then what? Don't even try to talk cfb. Your fans don't even qualify as bandwaggoners, fuck there aint nobody there and your team is allegedly a top 10'er (probably not at the end of the year). They would finish 5th in the Big 10.

UC Davis is a great team, but they never get on TV.

Stanford is making a run at the Pac 10 title.
They're only a game out of first place and all they have to do is beat UCLA, USC, Oregon State and Cal,
and hope somebody beats Oregon.

Shouldn't be a problem.

If LA is a shit sports town why does LA produce so many great athletes? maybe the problem is LA thinks that sports are actually going out and participating where other places in the country think that sitting on their fat asses in the stands makes them part of a great sports town. Dont get "great sports" and "great observing" confused

Considering most "fans" are adults, exactly what type of athletes are they producing? Over aged rec-league assholes who think they still have a shot at making it to the big time? The state of Florida produces a ton of great athletes, and they sell out all of their events. Give me a fucking break about the "going out and participating" shit. I'm from L.A. and I'm sorry but yeah, L.A. is a laughable sports town, at least in terms of fan representation.

L.A. can fill the stands....for a winner. That's what L.A. is, more than anything...a bandwagon.

Any team in L.A. except for the Clippers (Dodgers, Lakers, Angels, Kings, Trojans, Bruins) can sell out and receive rabid fan support, but only when they're on top.

Let's be realistic though. Living in L.A., it's to be expected. L.A. ain't Tuscaloosa or Lincoln. In L.A., yes, there are way too many other things to do if the local team sucks.

Also, L.A. has an awful lot of transplanted fans (and even teams) from across the nation living there so the die hard allegiance to the home teams isn't there the way it is in a place like Boston or New York.

Bottom line, while there's a multitude of perfectly good reasons the fact remains that L.A. only supports winners and as a result L.A. is a very weak sports town.

Who gives a crap about how good or bad a sports town a city is? Is that supposed to be some great achievement when a large amount of the population puts so much of their own personal well-being and self-esteem in their sports team made up of players, coaches, and often owenrs who have no connection with the city other than the jersey they wear? L.A. outproduces all of 'em, in all three major sports. Again, it's not just about population.

Also, where L.A. vs New York are concerned, you included L.A. County but you only included New York City. If one were to equate the vast sprawl that is the area encompassed by L.A. County to a similar area in New York City you'd be getting a lot more than NYC's 8 million, including a lot of underprivileged kids....and still L.A. County outproduces 'em.

Now, make it SoCal in general, including Orange County...

No biggie though. The original point the guy incorrectly made was that L.A.'s not a bad sports town as evidenced by all the athletes that come out of the L.A. area.

Non sequitur. A "good sports town" refers not to how many athletes they produce but how avidly, loyally and knowledgeably they follow their sports teams.
