I'd be interested to see how those stack up against the Big Ten and Pac-10 markets.
The Big 10 has 8 markets in the top 25 compared to the Big 12's 4 markets. As for the Pac-10, you have 6 markets in the top 25. It's not really a fair comparison. While you could argue that the Big 12 holds 3 of the most recognizable names in football based on history (Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska), I think it comes down to tv homes for the networks.
However, I have to wonder why the Big 12 can't be on CBS or on ESPN. Maybe it is time to steal a team for each of the leagues. BYU? Wyoming? Arkansas? Some midmajor teams like New Mexico? Adding another bordering state team wouldn't hurt.
