Anyone else gonna watch this? This is a huge game for obvious reasons, and a great game for a Thursday night. Thursday night's have turned into Saturday afternoons for VaTech.
Will Va Tech cover the 13.5?

In, without a doubt. Nice Thursday night matchup.
As far as covering a 13.5 spread? Not gonna happen. Vick tossed 3 picks in the last outing vs. a far inferior D.
BC has had two weeks to prepare so Longhorn Fan prays for an nice little Thursday night upset.

Why does'nt the big ten ever play on Thurs. eve. and has there ever been a big 12 team play Thurs.?

Will definitely be watching. Settled in now.
Oh, and... one shot of the hard liquor of your choice every time Michael Vick's name is mentioned. Good luck.

The way I look at it, teams that schedule Thursday night games are looking for exposure for recruiting and what not. Most Big Ten teams get plenty of that on Saturdays.

I think I remember where the league voted on it a few years back. It didn't go over well. The Big Ten rarely has anything but day games.

You know, teams like Ok St, Missour, Colorado, Minnesota, Illinois, NW shoudl all look for opportunities like this.
Schedule a game on Thursday night around a bye week and you get some national coverage. It makes sense.

Ken,
I tried, but before halftime I'm out of whiskey, I puked on the good rug, the GF isn't talking to me, but the dog is.
And Mike Vick is still overrated.

Thursday night games are okay, but the mid-week, i.e., Tuesday and Wednesday night, games involving teams in conferences with one or more hurricane-prone member have to go.
Example: Southern Miss-Houston game scheduled for September 24 had to be postponed. The game can't be made up, because Southern Miss has a game scheduled with Marshall for Tuesday November 8, which eats up both the November 5 and November 12 weekends.
http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/teams/sso And it can't be scheduled for December 3, because C-USA has a championship game which will be played that day (I suppose it could be scheduled for that day if neither team makes the championship game and the game affects bowl eligibility).

I would agree, just like MNF, Thursday nights are close enough to Saturdays.
MV is such a punk, in fact the whole team has a chip on their shoulder.

Nice point...Mark May has been and probably will always be an idiot. Who did he play for?
And great, here we go, time for ESPN's "hot" news story about a white bigot who thinks blacks tend to run faster.

VTs D is impressive...it won't be a game when they play Miami though

I was just practicing for this weeks Pick 'Em. I obviously need work on my fourth quarter D, but VT still fails to impress.

You're right. They'll humiliate the Canes just like they do most years at Lane.

Something like that, maroon and orange is painful enough...some of these new uniforms are hideous. So glad to see teams like Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Nebraska, Alabama and Penn State keep it real.

Damn. What is with all the Hokie hate here? Did Vick make out with your lush daughters or something?
Yes. The uniforms are horrendous. They need to go back to the old ones.
No. Vick is nowhere near the caliber of Vince Young. This is only Vick’s 8th start. VY has been around for 3 seasons. Who knows if/when Vick will collapse and wash out. How can y'all hate on a school because of ignorant announcers?
Hokie D. Bend, don’t break. Sustain the drive long enough for the TO. I still think they are poor at tackling and I hate the zone coverage they use all the time.
Hokie O. For the most part, the thing that seems to stop them is dumb penalties. Vick can pass better than his brother and can run just as well. Beamer has depth at RB but needs to utilize it. Playcalling is always an issue.
Next week. Sat night. Gangstas. They don’t have much luck in Blacksburg in Nov. Hopefully it will get colder. It seems that VT has been playing just well enough to win so far. Hopefully they step it up and get their shit together for this game and shove their cranks in some Ibus grill.
Folks can give the Hokies shit, but they continue to win. VaTech just beat #13. Unfortunately, after a team loses to VT, then they were ranked too high. Oh well. VT is ranked where they should be. USC and Tejas are still better teams.

No effing way. There were some desinged runs and scrambles last night that Marcus got tackled on that Michael NEVER would have been. I strongly disagree with that assertation. On several occasions last night when there was definitely enough space to pull a juke on a defender... Marcus just couldn't quite hack it and was taken down. Michael woulda been waving goodbye on his way past on the same play. No effing way.

This I know, unfortunately. Last year, A&M was embarrassed by Utah on a Thursday night. In 2003, A&M lost to Va Tech on a Thursday night. I was in Maui at the time, and the game came on there at like 11:00 AM.
The wife was not too happy when I was in the condo watching the game for 3 hours while she was on the beach with our friends that went with us.

Actually, I think you are correct. I just got a bit carried away last night. I remember some of Michael's scrambles where it seemed that he was just toying with the defenders.

If you compared their college tenures up to this point, isn't Marcus outperforming Michael, statistically speaking? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. If so, that says a lot about the image Michael left their, because it's amazing that a guy (Marcus) can outperform another guy on the field, yet most people won't even say he's anywhere as good.

I expected more from BC this year. I guess honestly, that comes from watching them spank the piss out of PSU in '03 and '04.
I do think O'Brien's a good coach. He definitely is developing some solid O Linemen.

I thought, with an O line averaging over 300lbs per lineman, that BC would have had more success running the ball. Tech's D is fast but they aren't really big.

Agreed, but we need to get into the 20th (note I didn't say 21st) century and lose the black cleats.

Booster letter from Foley:
As I've done on a number of occasions, I wanted to write you a quick letter to keep you updated on what is going on in our athletic program.
As part of a one-time promotional agreement with Nike, our football team will wear a special game jersey for the Florida-Georgia game this Saturday in Jacksonville. Florida is one of four schools that Nike approached nationally to help promote the Nike Pro "Tri-bolt" base performance layer, which will be worn under the shoulder pads.
I know the topic of uniform changes and alterations always draws various opinions, but the first thing I want you to know is this decision was made at the administrative level with our apparel licensing partner and is a one-time agreement. We have no long-term plans to change our uniforms and are very happy with the traditions and color schemes we currently have.
The game jersey on Saturday will have one orange sleeve on the uniform top instead of both being the traditional blue. In addition, the jersey will be lighter than usual and provide added ventilation for our players. The jersey will be worn over the Nike Pro "Tri-bolt" first layer top.
In the end, we think it will be a unique look and while there won't be a consensus on the topic, we hope you enjoy them.
Looking forward to seeing you in Jacksonville and Go Gators!
Sincerely,
Jeremy Foley Athletics Director
uh-oh
Then of course the arm-length orange single sleeve underneath.

Gotta disagree...black cleats with white or dark-colored socks is a great old-time look. I also like the spats look with the white shoes wrapped in black tape or visa-versa.

Those aren't as bad as the ones they actually used in the game. That one had the entire left shoulder in orange. You can't go with asymmetric design with uniforms.

of the teams wearing those garbage Nike jerseys, the gators jersey actually looks decent with the stripe.
thankfully MU doesnt have any orange in their uniform, or they would be stuck wearing that garbage, fuck, just let the MU team embarass themselves on the field, no need to make them wear that crap and take an asskicking.(they bent over for Nike and their crap wear)
