CU/Mizzou: who gets to lose to Texas twice?

Pretty important game this weekend. For all intents and purposes, the winner of this game wins the North division and gets the honor of getting embarassed yet again by Texas.

I'm a little surprised that CU is a 12 point favorite. Yeah, they're at home, and they've looked pretty good against teams outside the Top 6. But they barely came away with a win against KSU last week. I think they'll probably win this one, but not cover.

Prediction: CU - 31 MU - 21

Mizzou fan, your thoughts?

Gary PInkel is 0-25 when losing at halftime. There is a reason for the record.

I don't see CU stopping MU like KU did, they don't have the LB's to shut Smith down. But offensively CU should score points.

Should be a high scoring game, with Smith turning the ball over 2 times and MU loses by 6! Last time in Boulder, MU dominated CU, only to turn the ball over 3 times inside the CU 20. 2 times inside the CU10.

CU has a pretty good LB corps--it's a solid to very good unit. that's not the weakness of their team. if MU can spread the field effectively i think MU has a real shot. but, it all depends on which MU team shows up. apparently, both RB's Hugh Charles and Ellis are questionable...which is a big plus for a mediocre MU run D.

FWIW, KSU is different team with Everige at QB than Webb.

MU stands no chance, but not a blow out.

CU 27
MU 17

Mizzou is a Jeckyl and Hyde team.

Everytime I get my hopes up that they're more than just a bunch of scrubs, they shit all over themselves.

Everytime I'm ready to write 'em off, they surprise me.

Therefore, they beat the odds and win 38-35 in OT at Boulder...

...soon followed by massive choke jobs losses to either Baylor or K-State or both and hand the North division right back to Colorado.

Short memory, then.

If mine serves correct, they won at CU in Corby's senior year.

This is Brad's senior year.

Do the math.

also consider hoops where our big guys lose all oxygen by the 3rd quarter and bitches like david harrison get over.

yep, 1997 (OT in 99). my CU buddy says MU 1-9 in last 10 at Folsom.

Boulder can be tough in hoops--though it isn't always. Gym is old and cookie cutter but gets pretty loud if people show up. it's cheap too. for less than 10$ you can get a ticket and a big nachos or a brat (they have killer sauteed onions and peppers *and* spicy brown mustarc)--and pretty much sit whereever you want.

the last year CU made the tournament Harrison's fr year with Pelle (i think) and Morandais--they beat two final four teams in Boulder. KU and UT.

I said sin,
1970's being sarcastic, when MU was actually beating KST,KU,CU, etc they were the whipping boys. NOw MU is one of the whipping boys in Big12!

No, fans who cheer for 7-4,to get that shit bowl game are the reason MU is the bad program it is! It's a fucking joke. While other fans are hoping to possibly be a national title contender or even get a BCS bowl, MU fan is hoping they go 6-5 so they can go to the toilet bowl. Which is why both the basketball and football programs are shit. Mu is now a volleyball school

They tore down the goalposts after beating a below average Nebraska team

Fuck us for expecting the program to be one of the best in the Big12, shame on us for not accepting shit season after shit season. What a bunch of shit fans we are!

PS going 7-4 and losing to KU,KST,CU year in year out, does not help a program! But we get that bid to the almond bowl!woohoooo

I also actually attend games

I spend money on beer, chips, brats, sausitza, etc
I spend $$$ on gas making the 2 hour trip
I spend money on Mizzou attire(smith jersey, sweathsirts, tshirts, etc)
I spend money at the games and give a few bucks to the clubs, who get stuck working the consession stands for $$$ for their programs.

I guess i'm not really a fan, i just go to be with the in crowd

I guess it's a lot to ask that the university make a commitment to putting out a quality team and actually giving a shit about the football program!

shame on me

PS They jacked up prices yet again, continually putting out a shit product for Top program prices!

Dude, you're freaking me out.

It'll be Ok, I promise.

When you're lying on your death bed, you won't care about when the last time Mizzou made the Nacho Cheese Bowl was.

Then again, maybe you will.

If the Nacho cheese bowl is part of the BCS, MU will never make it!

And if MU loses at CU, the mother of Meltdowns is coming!

Mizzou doesn't seem to be the same team outside of Columbia, gotta lean toward the Buffs earning the honor of getting beatdown by Texas twice.

Sure wish the the skers were good enough to get bitched by Texas.

I'm off to the bar to watch this one. I'll be back shortly after the game for my celebratory post, pimping my 7-2 "mediocre" Buffs.

Scratch that. I stopped at three fucking bars. 1st one didn't have Gameplan. 2nd one was a PSU watch party. 3rd one didn't open til 2pm. So it's a PPV day, I guess. At least you guys get the benefit of my running commentary during the game.

In.

Fucking POS kicker can't even nail an XP.

Oh, and #8 might want to actually try staying with a receiver for once, rather than let white boy torch him for big gainers.

The shittiest part of this game for me - I have Smith and Coffey on my Big XII fantasy team. I have Crosby, Klopfenstein & Vickers, too, so I guess I'm cheering for a shootout.

41-12 w/ 8 minutes left. If Colorado is mediocre, what does that make Mizzou?

hey dickhead,

read more, we admitt our team is shit, your team is beating shit teams, props,

nice pussy calls from refs, taking a close game and totally breaking it open! Props Big12 officials! nice pussy late hit on Smith out of bounds, and for another week, no call.

That was a pretty bad non-call, to be sure, but I'd hardly say that it significantly changed the course of the game, JON. Mizzou looked good on exactly one drive. What made you think that one was gonna be any different that the rest?

i thought Mizzou's fumble recovery for a TD should have been an incomplete pass.....despite what the Greise and Nessler were saying.....though Swanny had it right. it was close....but if anything MU got a break there. should have been a late hit on Smith, but CU dominated MU. officiating had nothing to do with it. JMO.

the calls didnt cost them the game, but they were huge momemtun swings.

thinking your getting the bal lafter just scoring, only to get a bullshit call is huge.

CU is not a good team. beating on cripples is not impressive. they are going to lose at ISU, who is another bad team.

they played 2 good to very good teams and got fucking crushed.

IF CU runs the table, then i'll give them some credit. but

beating up cripples and getting assfucked by ranked teams is not anything impressive!

They have lost to two teams in the top 5 how can they be faulted for that. I think they will be the first to admit they are not a top 5 team, but as a Texas fan I have no problem putting them in the top 20 and maybe top 15.

There are a lot of teams ranked ahead of CU that CU could beat.

Obviously, we just have very different vocabularies. To me, a 7-2 team that will be in the top 20 in the next polls is a good team. To you, they're mediocre and "not a good team."

To me, Miami and Texas are very good and elite, respectively. To you, they're just good to very good.

To me, Mizzou is a mediocre team. Some weeks, Brad Smith looks like a Heisman candidate, other weeks he looks like Joe Dailey. To you, they're a shit team, a cripple.

It seems like a really pessimistic, glass-half-empty outlook to think that there are only 5 or 6 "good to very good" teams in any given season, but I guess you're consistent, at least.
