We should get them things sticky'ed. Also, we should have a weekly thread, since the order is bound to change week to week, game to game.
C'mon, Killian, I know you're around here.

I didn't want to consider him a candidate until I got a chance to really see him play. Yeah, for some reason I don't get too many Memphis games up here. Anyway, saw him yesterday in that game vs UAB and he was amazing until he sprained his ankle. Still ran for about 170 yards.

Well that is a homer to not include VY, pretty shortsighted I think.

Olson's numbers weren't all that bad but his team shouldn't be getting lit up by a 2-win team. Drew's 41 yard effort definitely knocks him down a notch. Calhoun being held to 38 yards in a pivotal conference game hurts his ranking. He does get his 20th TD but that's such an empty stat when you don't produce in a big game. I think the two guys I'm adding will be Michael Robinson and Brady Quinn.

Why even bother with five when we all know it's a three horse race?
The other two invitees? Hopefully they'll enjoy a nice deli sandwich before attending a taping of Letterman...
-Bush
-Leinart
-Young
It's Reggie's to lose.
That being said, I still think Leinart's decision making, poise and accuracy make him the most important component to USC's continuing success. Leinart, his offensive line, those receivers and a heavy dose of Lendale White will still beat just about anybody. Remove Leinart from the situation and The Streak will fall. Booty will no doubt become a very good QB and maybe he'll eventually be able to carry on where Palmer and Leinart left off but I highly doubt USC could withstand Leinart going down right now nearly as smoothly as they could withstand Bush gong down right now...

Good, not very homer of him. I wouldn't be surprised if he put himself first, White or Jarrett 2nd and Bush 5th.

After Week 11, here's my order:
1. Young
2. Bush
3. Leinart
4. Quinn
5. Williams
I want to put Leinart above Bush this week, but when you're averaging 8.4 a carry, it's hard to drop you. He's just not getting enough touches to put up the kind of numbers one needs to win the Heisman. Texas keeps relying on Young to come through each week, and he continues to deliver. Leinart and Bush are hurt by the fact their team has so many weapons and the offense can be spread around, both in the air and on the ground. Doesn't help when you continue to sit out most of the 4th quarter as well.
Right now, it looks like Young is pulling away. Too bad Calhoun threw in that stinker of a game over the weekend. I was thinking I was overlooking him after last week's Top 5.

I'm not so sure, Van. I'm thinkin I could throw my 9 year old out there and he'd throw balls up to Jarrett, Smith and the likes of those receivers. I honestly think the O-line and the receivers and the double threat of Bush and White make Leinart a better QB than he actually is. Next year, when he's at the next level, the difference in talent between his team and the opponent will be much more close, and he'll find himself on the wrong side of that talent mismatch in most cases. I fully expect him to struggle as a pro.
You're correct in that the Heisman was (note I said
was) Reggie's to lose, but I think he's done so with two mediocre games (not his fault and really, they are called mediocre because of what we've come to expect from him). He needs to throw in 3 ND type games the next 4 weeks and if so, then he'll make it a closer race than it's looking to be right now. Remember, what happens late in the season is what will be mostly on the voters minds when casting their ballots. So far, VY has been huge down the stretch, whereas Reggie's been pretty good. Leinart's put up some big numbers, but I say Booty will put up equal stats next year (if Jarrett, Smith and White stay, which I expect they will).

Leinart has a higher QB rating this year than last year, hes onpace for more TDs and more yards than last year he has thrown for 5 more TDs than Young, thrown fewer INTs than Young and has a higher passer rating than Young, why arent those who rate Younjg ahead of Leinart being called Homers?

I'm not sure that Leinart is capable of single-handedly beating another team. Young has done that several times. Is Matt Leinart a better QB than Vince Young? Without question, not even close. That said, Leinart isn't half the athlete that Young is. Young is the most dangerous player in CFB. Does that give him the Heisman edge? We'll see.

Some good points in there, although I'm convinced Reggie Bush could play QB for some programs in the country these days (Hey Fullmer, #5 lined up behind center is a better looking prospect than the two headed shortbus QB by comittee thing you got goin on, eh?).
The Heisman, as has been stated, goes to the best college football player in the country. Leinart may very well win the Unitas Award, but Young could make his case for the Heisman because he is a more all around better player: he can beat you with his arm or his legs. In some ways, save for a tad slower in the speed department, he's what you'd get if you took Bush and Leinart and made one player out of them. Thing is, Reggie can get back in this thing with just another 5 or 6 touches of the ball a game. He averages a score every dozen touches and can easily run off a 3 game barrage of scores.
I think Young has got it by a slim margin right now. He's been better of late, whereas Reggie's cooled off and Leinart is just getting it goin again.

Young plays QB, thats the position he chose to play, Leinart is better in every QB stat than Young, how can Young be the best player in all of college football when he isnt even the best player at his position?

Are you serious?
Is Leinart capable of throwing for 300 yards and running for 200 yards in a given game? Not a chance in hell.

The USC offense is led by Leinart. I think Bush is awesome but he has had 2 good but not dominat last 2 games while Leinart has BLOWN up. He is the engine that drives that offense. Plus he is white and I wouldnt mind seeing the streak of white QBs extended. (j/k)

I'll offer a homer pick - Mike Robinson. There are much better QBs, but I think he's the best "leader" in the country.
