Briefly- The bad and the good.
  • Bad- Playing teams with missing components or not at full strength.
  • Good- Possible shot at a playoff birth because ANYthing can happen from there.
Tampa missing "The Grease" and Eagles missing "to" is not exactly the games I like to brag about. I was more happy about losing to Denver and KC in games where we had a shot to win and looking like a well oiled machine. Bring on the Boys again, this will earn us some R-E-S-P-E-C-T-!

War getting over the fence.

Careful what you wish for. I think the Cowboys are hitting stride at the right time, and will be a vastly improved team from the first time we man handled you for 56 minutes. Next time, we play a full 60 minutes.

We ran into a buzz saw. Carolina has studs all over. Should have been a better game. This is a must win for us. We can't go to 5-4, we just can't.

Look for urgency on Tampa. They know they are in a tailspin.

I like the Bucs to rebound, big.

I see the Foreskins winning big, and I mean huge. They will do everything to disrupt Simms and probably knock him out for the season. The Foreskin high power offense is simply unstoppable. There isn't a defense out there this year that can shut them down. Beware NFL, the Foreskins are coming to a town near you.

okedokee.....after breaking down the giants/skins game and projecting a big win for the skins, i took a week off from the stats.

now, i can't help myself...so here goes....

tampa- #1 ranked D in the league. #2 vs pass, #2 vs run...not bad.
let's take a closer look..... 8)
wow- seems as though the bucs have played 3 of the worst 4 O's in the league- san fran, the jets, and buffalo. in fact, all 8 teams the bucs have played are ranked in the bottom half of the league in O.

the bucs have played exactly one team with a winning record (at home, no less) and they got beat by 20. they even lost to the woeful jets and niners.

as for the skins, they have played the toughest schedule in the NFC so far, with the combined opponents record of 39-25 (as opposed to the bucs opp. record of 21-41), and they are 5-3, 2-1 in the division, with all 3 losses on the road to good teams- 2 of them coming down to the redskins last offensive play of the game.

seems like this is a mismatch. but the bucs have one thing going for them and that is the fact that this is a home game for them. the skins seem to turn the ball over and drop passes when they play away- they even fumbled twice sunday night at home, but were fortunate enough to get both back. the skins have fumbled 15 times and lost all but 4. only the saints have lost more fumbles..... not good.

the skins need to show they can focus and win on the road. i think the bucs D is good, but not as good as their ranking. the skins D should be able to handle simms and co., but they can't give up a big scoring play as they've done in every game since week 2. they allow tiki to rush for over 200 yards, then hold westbrook to 24 yards on 17 carries. go figure.

skins 20
bucs 10

simms doesnt finish this one.

As a Bucs fan i must say that they will get their ass kicked the rest if the season. Quite easily, the worst 5-3 team in football.

Bring it, Mac-DF! The jinx only worked for the Giants...,,well and that fucker went off and died on us on our week but, trying to keep it working is another thing.

But I like the way you think.

COWBOYS to roll the Eagles 85 to 3 mark my words peeps, you heard it here first. Bledsoe will scramble for 56 yards while Barber will slice that D up like a ginsu thru a warm stick of butter. The Keyshawnian will dismantel that secondary all day long. The big 3 will roll as they have been. Also look for that

D- Image

to make several turnovers.

Boys will remain atop of the division looking to win their first superbowl under Parcel.

Well, I'm not T-Rex, but here's my 2 cents anyway....

Call me myopic but I do not see a third straight poorly played game out of the Bucs. Home field and defense should be enough to keep this game close. You mentioned Simms doesnt finish this game G O , thats pretty much my sentiment about Brunnel today.

I believe points will be at a huge premium in todays game and the two biggest factors today will be field position and the kicking game. If the Bucs can at least run the ball with some effectiveness as well as give Simms some time when throwing the ball, the Bucs have a legit shot in a game I'm sure will be a defensive struggle...

Bucs-12
Skins-10

bullshit call, bucfan.

why the hell does the ref need to call anything more than 'catch'??? saying force out (which is wasn't) takes the challenge away- much like blowing the whistle.

bullshit.

well, cant say i didn't see this coming. 3 turnovers and 14 points off of them....typical skins road play thus far.

the honeymoon with brunell is over. dude needs to tuck the fukkin ball away already and stop coughing it up when somebody breathes on him. and patten needs to be cut yesterday. he can't catch a cold.

not feeling good about this. barring a turnaround both offensively and defensively, bucs win this.

bucfan- what do you think about that 2 pt conversion?

IMO- elbow down several inches before the goal line, but, the way the D has played, cant say the skins deserve this one.

Too hard to see the ball. Where is the ball on his chest? You cannot see anything conclusive either way.

Gutsy call.

Great win.

Simms played fantastic. Very impressed with his poise and mistake free play. He had a passer rating of 110. Not bad.

Going for the win. Props Chuckie. They earned it. So much for the Skins D. Try showing up sometime soon. The rest of the season needs you.

honestly- homerism aside- i dont think he was in. that last straight on angle showed the elbow down and you should have been able to surmise from other angles that his forarms are not 4 feet long and the ball was in his grasp, not stretched out......

BUT

the skins brought that on themselves. offsides on the extra point?- inexcusable. and to give up some long passes to - no offense- scrub WR's (scrub as in besides galloway), that is unacceptable.

this D has taken a huge step back from where they were a year ago. giving up 36 to simms and that O - esp when your team has 35 on the board against the #1 D in the league- is unexplainable and pitiful.

Betts was out on the kick off return.

We're even....actually you're a +5 on gifts today.

There is no conclusive evidence. Where were his arms PRIOR to coming down. He was horizontal before dropping the elbow. No proof.

eh. at least, the bucs are +1- dont forget that non push off out of bounds call that gave the bucs the ball at about the 5 or 4 or whatever. you could look at a few angles on alstott and conclude a non TD once you see the elbow down. you could only do that with betts if you had an angle near the ground showing his heel on the white.

but, like i said- i have no beef with the calls when the D couldnt stop simms daddy or grandaddy today.

simms won it for them.

props to the bucs.

damn, didnt see this this week!

Question: was out of town, watched Tampa tie it @ 35, then took off to head home. What the fuck happened? Epnalty on Washington after the xtra point???? wha???

huge win, after washingotn stormed back to take lead, thought Buccs were done, Simms sacked up, but he's still not a #1 Qb in the NFL.

I love the way Gibbs tells his team to sandbag to make their rise to the ultimate prize that much more dramatical. Consider yourself fortunate Sucfan, because the Skins were just playing with you. Yes, they LET you win. It's all part of Gibbs and Snyders plan to turn it up a notch at the end of the season and steamroll all of us on their way to the Championship. The Skins are, by far, the team to beat in the NFC.

Washington blocked teh extra point but the guy who bloacked it was way early. The ball was moved to the 1 yard line. Gruden decided to go for 2 and the win. Alstott plunged in up the middle and the rest is history.

Alstott had the ball tucked under his arm, and the replay clearly showed that the elbow on said arm was down outside the goalline.
Since it was in Tampa, the refs were too chickenshit to overturn what was clearly not a successful two point conversion. Bullshit win for the Fuccanqueers. Bullshit win.

Are you saying that you saw the ball the whole time? Was he pushed BACK at an angle? I saw nothing either way that was conclusive.

Paul, your just pissed because karma is laying the wood on your sorry ass again. You poke your nose continually where it doesn't belong by showing up in thread after thread. So, I continually have to remind your punk ass who has a better team. You are WELL on your way to another cryin ryan. There's no stopping you.

bad call. but.......til they can hold a 4th quarter lead vs a bad O, they dont deserve dick.

Great game. It's nice to see the skins come back after being down to a great Defense 21-10 and it could've been worse. Those two passes in the 1st quarter that got picked from brunell was the difference maker. And, it wasn't even Brunell's fault. Those were passes were very catchable balls that practically hit the reciever in the breadbasket and got deflected.

Never the less, that 2 point conversion was balls even if it didn't make it. Gruden did that because he was losing faith in his Defense and Alstott's money when he needs a yard. (Salave'a sacked him for his only loss 1 time)

Key Plays
  • *2 turnovers
    *Galloway's invisible push outabounds catch
    *2 pointer
Bottom line
Tight game, very good match up!

We had 56 seconds and 2 time outs that could have easily put us in field goal range even after that 2 pointer to gain the lead and we didn't capitalize on it.

agreed- well said, BD. patten needs to step up. brunell played well the second half- my only beef is he needs to hold onto the fookin ball. if that D doesnt step up, we are screwed.

funny thing- i saw salave'a in leesburg about 2 am the same day (monday morning, technically) the skins lost to the chefs. i was talking skins football with this guy and joe was about 3 feet from me listening in ....but i didnt recognize him. the guy i was talking with (who kept steering the conversation towards the D) told me a few minutes later after he left. good thing all i said was that the skins need a pass rush....

the only angles they showed on TV showed the front of his foot in bounds. it appeared that his heel could be out, but it also appeared that his heel may not have hit the ground as he was running. unless there is an angle that shows his heel on the ground, the call stands.

as for video of that, T REX of bucmonkey may have a link.

doesnt change the fact that the skins D sux, unfortunately.

Just saw another replay with Alstott and his shoulder was CLEARLY over the goal line. Was the ball too? You cannot tell. As he falls to the ground the elbow comes down. I think he made it.

dont mean to beat the dead horse, but what shoulder are you talking about?

do me a favor- lie on the ground with your elbow down. hell- put a football in that arm, too. how can the ball be over if your elbow is not?

its a physical impossibility.

but- if arrington doesnt jump over alstott, he probably stops him.

for the record, add dan patrick to the list of skins haters to said they got jobbed. i havent heard anyone outside of tampa that says alstott was in. i'm guessing the refs saw the side angle where it wasnt clear and not the end zone shot, as they didnt show that angle on TV til time was just about up for the challenge.

rex- no need to debate this point- your team led by simms rolled up and down the field against the skins. the skins blew it and i dont think they deserved to win anyhow.
