It's all good for a PSU fan

With or without a portion of the Big 10 crown, this is a very exciting season for PSU fans. I think even a two loss PSU team will draw an interesting opponent in a bowel. It will be interesting to make conference strength comparisons on the basis of that game.

Big 10 teams generally are not matched up with strong OOC foes (OSU/UT was a notable exception this year). I'd love to see a matchup with:

Bama
ND
OU
FSU
Miami
VA Tech
Georgia

...not to mention USC or UT. I think the chances for a matchup with one of the above are very good. In recent years PSU has been done in early November. When your team misses the bowel season, the regular season really seems short.

If I was PSU fan I wouldn't relish a bowl game against FSU, Miami, or Va Tech. PSU would get tore up.

Why would you want to see a game against a shit OU squad?

Bama would be a good game to see, though. Notre Dame, too.

This is exactly why I'm excited for this bowel season. I disagree with your take...but I'd like the gridiron to refute it.

PSU, major props on a great season so far. That defense is pretty damn tough and the offense is doing very nicely putting points up on the board this season.

Maybe so, but as a fan of any team, you want to play the best, in the best bowl possible. That's how you measure yourself - against the elite.

Preferring to play someone inferior in order to increase your chances of getting a W is quite pussified, to say the least.

not to mention tOSU has:

Texas 2006
Washington and Syracuse in 2007
USC 2008
USC 2009
Miami of FLA 2010
Miami of FLA 2011
Kal 2012
Kal 2013
Va Tech 2014
Va Tech 2014

not bad OOC games coupled with the top tier of the MAC - BG, Northern Illinois...shaping up to be a pretty good schedule...now I have read that Kal is on the schedule but have not heard definitively...

I would like to see

WVU - natural intersectional rivalry (played them in 98 and the game was a biggie)...
FLA
ND - 1995/96 was awesome
Colorado
A&M

just some thoughts for the future...

oh and Rack PSUFan and the Lions...

Weren't they supposed to get torn up by USC and Heisman trophy winner Mucus Allen in the Fiesta Bowl years ago? Wasn't Herschel Walker supposed to run all over them in the Sugar Bowl? Wasn't Miami supposed to roll them years ago? Their defense is stiffling and I wouldn't put it past them to shut someone down in a bowl game and come out on top.

Miami I could see. But after this weekend you still think VT or FSU will "tear up" PSU?

I would take PSU in any of those 3 games.

Rack it, dave.
Just one more data point supporting the notion that the Dr. is... well... and idiot, for lack of better terms.

Well we don't pay you to think, hot lips. In fact, we don't pay you at all.

Count it!

Dammit man, you don't watch much college football..........FSU beat a Miami team early that would kill them today. Miami plays poorly against a team that has a defense (Ohio St. circa 2002) and V-Tech just got their pants pulled down and spanked in front of everyone last week........Don't fuck with the highwater parma sock wearin' coke bottle glasses seein' angry chasin' refs after a horrible call old man............Old dude is still a badass.............................................

Question: If PSU makes a BCS game and wins does Joe Pa call it a career? If yes who is his successor?

Enjoy the Hell out of this. You've been suffering for a few seasons now. Milk this year for all it's worth...

Negatory. For the simple reason that he'll make it known at least a season ahead of time when he's retiring so that he doesn't mislead any recruits. Just my take on it.
If yes who is his successor?
Pretty much assumed that Tom Bradley, current DC, would take the reigns.

Bama, ND, PSU...all in the top 10 again, late in the season. Whatta woild.
If I was XXXXXX fan I wouldn't relish a bowl game against
...does not compute. As mgo said, why not hope to see your team play against the best? Afraid of losing? Fuck all that. The cupcake OOC schedule was interminable enough as it was.

I was thinking about Penn St. and their resurgence this past weekend. It's good to see them doing well again. Grats Ken and PSUFAN on the inspiring season.

I was wondering if indeed Paterno might leave if he wins the conference and plays in a BCS game.

I think the thing that would get him thinking about retiring would be if his wife has health problems of some kind. Otherwise, his son recently said he thought he could coach another 20 years. While that isn't likely, I'm basically certain that he'll be around for the 4 years of this freshman class eligibility.

I don't think he will be gone soon. He has too many young talented players on his team to leave now. I would imagine he feels he owes his team a few more good years and wants to see what he can do with the current talent pool.

What responsibilities does he have anymore?

During the OSU game, I remember that anytime they showed him (which was a lot)he was by himself with no headset, no clipboard, and not talking to anyone. Just clapping and cheering and possibly waving a towel.

If he is just a figure head and his assistants can keep up the winning, then I would guess he coaches until he dies.

Miami might beat them, but it would be very low scoring. PSU's D is very tough.

I'm sorry, but FSU would not beat PSU this season. FSU has struggled mightily against some average teams and could have 4 losses already.

VT - PSU would be a nice Bowl matchup as well. PSU could stop Vick the way Miami's D did.
