My weekend birthday plans....

Well last year for my 40th my wife took me to Tennessee ND at UT so I was fortunate enough to see one of the mecca's of CFB. This year it gets much better. We leave Friday morning from LA and fly into Chi-town. Pep rally at ND Friday night. We have a tour (hopefully) set up after the pep rally by the guy who's in charge of special events. Press box, field, locker rooms etc....should be cool. Saturday morning wake up, start drinking and tailgating for ND-syracuse. Saturday night may go on into Sunday morning which then has the Bears and Panthers staring me right in the face for Sunday afternoon. Stay in Chicago that night then drive to Green Bay for the Packers-Vikes Monday night game. Lambeau field on a Monday night, another mecca of the football world. Hopefully I can remember the happenings and post a blow by blow synopsis some time next week. Have fun without me for the weekend......but I'll be freezing my a$$ off and having a good time doing it.

Awesome man, have fun.

Just a word to the wise, they've started giving out tickets for the Pep Rally. You may have to get those to ensure you can get in. Good luck, have fun and go Irish!

Well hopefully we can get a few. You have any connections?

Uh, Jimmy, I'm not that old.....well at least I don't think I am.

Nope. It's first come, first serve. If you get there early, I would go to the JAAC (basketball arena) and look for them. They're free and there playing Syracuse, so you may be in luck.

We get in around 1:00 P.M. then driving we lose another hour so hopefully we can get to the university quickly and get in line.

Jimmy, I went back in 1995 with the wife to the SC game because she was working. It was great because they paid for her flight, rent a car, hotel etc....the only thing we had to pay for was my flight. Game was free etc....didn't get to tour the campus but this time we will. Hopefully we can get the tour from my friends buddy and check out the stadium. I'll go to the E building and take a dump in all the handicapped stalls just for you.

Rack Lax's bride for supporting that love of football and gutter dwelling behavior. oh, yea, happy b-day Laxy.

BTW, I'm older than you lax and can still bring it as well as any of these pups around here. Keep rockin.

I'll second the rack of Lax's wife (wish mine appreciated sports in the least), and note that I too am older than Lax, albeit only by a handful of days (41 on November 6, born on the exact same day as Living Colour frontman Corey Glover and former NFL QB Eric Kramer).

As for the pep rally, back in my day it was free. Back then, it was considered passe for the students to attend unless you were either a freshman, or the final one in your senior year. Of course, that was during the Gerry Faust era. Also, this is the last home game of the season, so you may get more students there than usual if the student tradition hasn't changed much. But it's an amazing spectacle if you've never seen one before.

I'm looking forward to the game. I took a lot of shit around these parts over the '03 ND-SU game, and it'll feel good to give some of that back this year, although the freefall that SU football is in right now (how's that coaching change working out for you, 'Cuse?) will take some of the fun out of it. After all, all I'll get back is, "Yeah? Well, nobody expected us to win."

Happy Birthday anyway, Lax.

Thanks guys. The wife is a huge sports fan but she's a bit pissed at this trip because I'm gone for 5 days and she has to work just about every one of those days. Oh well, I guess this is what they meant when they said for better or for worse. I'm geeked for this trip and can't wait.
BTW aging sucks.

Terry,

They're still free, but you now have to get in line and get a ticket to get in. This just started this year after so many were turned away for the MSU rally.

Thanks seer for seconding my wife's rack. Greg...don't even go to the age card. You're so old that they didn't even teach history when you were in school.

Just gonna miss me. I'm heading to Chicago today and heading back Friday.

Have a good weekend.

I'll be at IU/Purdue on Saturday, and then Jasper HS Semi-State game on Saturday night. How's that for kickass? Indiana rivalry game and then high school playoff football..

Tell me how Luke Schmidt looks.

Luke was playing defensive end at the end of the 1st half of last week's game when the other team was driving. Coach just said to him, "get out there and stop'em".

Sorry, my bad.

When I was a student, though, you didn't need tickets for the pep rally. I'm guessing that the local fire inspector was threatening a crackdown, and this is the solution ND came up with.

Well I was in Moab about 11 days ago.
Other than that I've been around but just not saying a whole lot.
Did you miss me?

Thanks, but we're already in. My friend who knows the guy in charge of special events told us to go around the back and tell them that we're in his private group so we're in.
Thanks again.
