Raiders could help salary cap by $11.9 million by letting go of quarterback after season

Another question is, if Collins is gone how long before Norv follows?

Yeah, I saw that awhile ago joe-ironically, its the exact same kind of contract situation that jeff george had before making way for gannon.

:meds:

Anyhow, Norv is done. There are no 2 ways about it.

So far the names being tossed around are Jimmy Johnson (IN-its well known he wants to get back into coaching), Brian Billick (Fuck no-but Moss is fond of him and his scheme from minnesota-and he's still with the ravens for now), and Herm Edwards (Who is linked with KC as well.....fuck him, he sucks at in game adjustments)

Im hoping Al doesnt act like a fucking bitch about hiring Jimmy. Pay the motherfucker and let him work his magic.

QB is much more complicated-who knows which way Alcula will go. A leader is needed......but not many out there to be found.

Should be interesting :meds: :meds: :meds: :meds:

Ive heard crazy rumor shit regarding names like Jeff Garcia to names like Drew Brees or Philip Rivers (Whomever the Chargers stick with, the Raiders will go after the other-which I NEVER see truly happening-EVER) to David Carr if the Texans can get Leinart.

Who fucking knows.

Heres a name that might shock you. How bout Charlie Batch? Granted his time in Detroit was awful, but consider this.. The Lions as a whole were pathetic. Actually they still are. Batch has a decent arm,can scramble and looked pretty good when he had an OL in front of him. Remember what they said about Gannon before he came to Oakland.

As far as a new coach goes. Jimmy Johnson would be shocking considering his relationship while with another meddling owner in Jerry Jones. I agree if Al is serious about landing him,he needs to give him full reign. Let Jimmy chose his assistants, let Jimmy decide who gets signed, released, let Jimmy decide who we draft. Al aint no Joe Pa. He isn't full of life at the ripe old age of 76. And if he ever wants to see another Raider Super Bowl victory,he needs to realize his way just aint cuttin it anymore.

Agree with your accessment James that it's very doubtful the Chargers trade Rivers to the Raiduhs (Drew I think has earned the job and will remain a Charger).

I've also heard that Carr might be available next season. Others who could be available include:

Steve McNair
Daunte Culpepper
Chad Pennington
Brian Griese

Griese is a little too much like Collins IMO, but any of the others especially Culpepper & McNair could work out well. Culpepper might be had in a trade, although he might not be ready at the beginning of the season. McNair is almost guaranteed to be a FA with his 50 million dollar signing bonus that is due next year. He's near the end of his career, but is poised in the pocket and with the RaiDuh Oline starting to mature, along with Jordan and Moss he would have a lot to work with.

Anyway the Raiduh's won't be the only team with whole sale changes next season.

IF you held a gun to my head and I had to choose between any of these guys, it'd obviously be McNair as choice number one.

He's got a few good years left, can scramble, and is one of the few guys who can read coverage well and hit his man-when he isnt on his back from that horrible fucking o-line.

Next up would be Pennington. Weak Arm, accurate as fuck-and a leader who doesnt get shaken. He reminds me the most of Gannon in that they both have the same knocks against them regarding thier arm. CP is the best coverage reader of this bunch-but his shoulder is a HUGE liability, and the only reason I place him second.

The rest can suck a fat fucking jizzing cock.

McNair will probably retire this season
Culpepper is a Viking for life
Pennington - Possibility there, but who would the Jets QB? No one in the wings. Also doesn't have the arm
Griese? Maybe, but has a suspect arm.

Carr would be a good fit. He's a decent QB who needs a change of scenery (something other than the turf and an opposing lineman on top of him)

Here's another name - Joey Harrington - Bwa!

He's done in Detroit barring a miracle and I wouldn't put it past Al to see if he could get Joey to throwy to Randy.

McNair will be in Tennessee next year... There have already been preliminary contract re-structure talks... He'll spend the rest of his career in TN.

Knowing that Collins will be gone, It'll be interesting to see if norvell will give Tui or even Walters a shot if/when they get eliminated from playoff contention.

His career is over. He never had a strong arm to begin with and you're never the same after that injury.
Which is exactly why Davis would try to resurrect him. You know Alice loves proving everybody else wrong. He'd rather prove you wrong than win a Super Bowl.

He needs to retire so they can rebuild around Volek, I'd be surprised if he sticks around.

Maybe Mr. Davis will have the good fortune of seeing Tommy Maddox hit the free agent market.

Al may be senile, but he's not blind.

Give up a First Rounder for Rivers and hire Norm Chow as the Head Coach.

The thread is pointless, and with the exception of my Raidernation bretheren, I could give 2 fucks about any of your 'prognosticating' regarding who will be the next Raiders QB.

Nobody knows what the fuck Al will do-usually, he gets great players.......its the fucking coaching hires that worry Raiderfan.

Even though the probablility of Jimmah Johnson coaching the Raiders next year was practically propelled into the "sure thing" category by you-know-who, the certain availability of Vermeil makes him a possibility too.

Tui plays, and if he struggles, it's Walter time.

Screw Collins.

As far as I'm concerned he's had his shot.

It was a blank.

Exactly. The Raiders won't improve just by dumping Collins.

Vermiel with the Raiders?

I have a hard time picturing Al Davis hiring a man who cries.

It's true.

Unless they plan on having Mike Vick or Bobby Douglass as their QB they have to upgrade their O-Line in a big way.

Right now the line play sucks verrah hard.

The play yesterday where Collins dropped back into statue formation and got his ass SACKED in the endzone was a microcosm of this season.

Utterly laughable shit, that was.

Believe me, I'm not a huge Collins fan. I see him as a more accurate Maddox. Both are totally immobile, and if a defense gets a finger on them, they crumble and generally cough up the football. It appears to me that the Raiders are built to feature the talents of a QB of that sort. If that's the road they're on, they need to find ways of giving the QB some time to throw.

I haven't seen a lot of them this year, but in the games I have seen, Collins has played well, while folks drop his passes and fail to block effectively.
