Why is that? Innocent until proven guilty not apply here?

No. ESPN isn't a court of law. They can get rid of him at will. Given ESPN's track record of dealing with people that give them a black eye, Irvin will be out of a job in a matter of days.

Hey, Rush Limbaugh is still employed. Right?

ESPN can do whatever the fuck they want. That doesn't mean that I can't mock those who would be the first to join the lynch mob without knowing so much as the contents of the arrest warrant.

I have to wonder, how did they have an outstanding warrant on Micheal Irvin? Do the cops in Irving not know how to find Michael Irvin? Did not ONE cop look at the warrant when it was being processed and say "Hey! I think I've seen that guy"? Do these people not watch ESPN?

Rack the Avatar!!

but put me in the minority for saying..

Don't shitcan his ass!!

Yes, he has a drug problem, yes, his support for T.O. is idiotic.

and no, I, personally do not like him as a commentator but...

nothing proven here (pipe found which he possibly used but it's only a misdemeanor) and if there was something proven, ESPN has to allow him the opportunity to REHAB first....

I will bet that his contract is not extended though!!

Miami is a great school w/ high academic standards which is why I wonder they dont set the bar a little higher for the athletes. I know you cant expect guys w/ 1300 SAT scores to run 4.4s, but I would think that a school w/ such high standards would at least have a min score of 1000 instead of 820. Notre Dame has strict policies and so does Duke. I think at Duke, if you dont get at least a 1170, they dont recruit you. I know it doesnt bode well for the football team, but the basketball team does pretty well.

The outstanding warrant was for a speeding ticket which he never bothered to address. He was pulled over for speeding again, at which time he was arrested for the bench warrant. They searched the car, voila, crack pipe.

But it wasn't his. :meds:

A warrant like that will not have extradition, therefore, they're not going to go get him in Bristol, CT.

A better question would be how in the fuck does some stupid SOB NOT bother to take care of a simple speeding ticket and allow a bench warrant to be issued on his dumb, highly visible ass, in the 1st place?

I listened to Irvin this afternoon on Dan Patrick's show.

Patrick twice directly asked him if he would consent to a drug test. Irvin both times dodged that direct question and took the dialogue off in another direction.

His actions are not the actions of an innocent man.

Innocent man says, "Hell YES I want to take a drug test. This thing is a COMPLETE misunderstanding and I want to clear my name, period."

Whatever, I have pity for Irvin.

I just don't need to have a crackhead jabberin' at me in pregame.

Bradshaw is bad enough.

Very astute observation, Mr. Tart. One of the first things they teach us at the FBI Academy is telltale signs that people are lying. Body language is a biggie but we don't have that luxury over the radio. Liars tend to qualify statements, project blame, change topics, answers questions with questions and so on. Sound familiar.

An innocent person will flat out deny an allegation or totally agree to do something to clear their name.

Irvin is full of shit.

Just watched his interview with Lazy Eye Scott and an easy Poker tell reveals he was lying;

- He constantly looked down and to the right when answering all drug related questions. Too easy, and I only had a 10 2 off suit.

Turns out Irving didn't have a crack pipe. He had a bowl with weed resin in it. I guess even in Texas, a bowl full of cronic resin isn't enough to rate a drug possesion bust, thus the misdemeanor charge.

As far as I am concerned, as long as Rush Limbaugh is still employeed, why should ESPN make an example out of Irvin? So what if Irvin tokes a little ronic? Last I checked, if hasn't impared his performance on the set. If anybody should be fired it is Steve Young for being a guttless pussy when Phil Simms got up in his face about his boy.

Translation: "I'm a pothead myself, so as far as I'm concerned, maryjuana should be completely legal. As well, I hate Rush Limbaugh with every fiber of my wasted being, so the fact that he isn't employed by ESPN anymore never crossed my THC addled synapses."

Limbaugh was fired for his actions as a commentator, not because of his drug habit. Since his drug habit was exposed, Limbaugh has remained employed.

And yes, even though my use of the cronic is limited to 2 or 3 special occasions a year, and even though I don't actively seek out or buy weed ever, there is no logical reason for the shit being illegal.

Besides, you start firing everybody who has ever smoked weed in this country and you and a bunch of Mormons will be left to run all the forklifts.

Not by ESPN he isn't.

So, you're saying that since Rush still has a yob (isn't he self-employed anyways?) ESPN is obligated to sign Irvin's check?

Nice leap of logic.

Next time you smack someone for being an idiot, you might want to be sure that you're not exposing your own idiocy.

WABC does not directly write his paycheck, nor does any other broadcast property of Disney. WABC is just one broadcast station among many that pays to air his program so that they can attract listeners and sell advertising.

Limbaugh writes his own paycheck through his own syndication company. It may not have always been that way, but it is now. That's why no one can fire him. Now, if his ratings were to drop below those of another viable talk show alternative, then the broadcast outlets that pay to run his program now will go elsewhere once they can get out of their contractual obligations... but Limbaugh continues to pull in ratings, and that equals money to stations that run his program.

Don't even think for a minute that keeping Michael Irvin around, drug habit or not, does a hell of a lot for ESPN's ratings.
