They better be glad I like to keep this job.

Says Bobby Bowden in response to the negativity surrounding his son.
WTF!!!!!?????????
How senile is this guy? So, you Seminole fans are LUCKY that you have him running 3-4-5 losses a year? Unbelievable. I can tell already this is going to be a very sad ending to one of the greatest coaching careers of all-time.
Take this with his last quote I posted about he doesn't get upset about losses anymore and I think you have very telling insight into BB's mind.
He is ONLY holding on because of Joe Pa. No fire. No desire.
What a shame.

Only time will tell if you are correct Trix, but people were saying the same thing about Jopa just last season.

But the fact remains that Joe did not stick around becasue of Bowden. That couldn't be further from the truth (don't get me started).
Not saying Bowden is sticking around because of JoePa, but at least the possibility is there.

He is only sticking around so his son will have a job.
It has nothing to do with JoePa.
What else is jeffry going to do?
He sucks at life.

How dare they imply that the offense being down for the last five seasons has anything to do with my kid being OC for the last five seasons!
Geez Bobby is losing it.
While Joe Pa was not running PSU as well as he should have he did show significantly more passion for coaching than Bobby is now.

There are many parallels...among them the desire to guide their sons' careers. You can't blame them on the one hand...but there comes a point when it isn't fair to the rest of the program, not by a long shot.

Ken, I disagree. I think jopa wants the record more than Bowden does.

That was taken out of contest. He said that in response the media calling out his son, Jeffy. He meant that the media better be glad he likes his job or he would have said something that could have cost him his job. Doesnt take away the fact that his son is gawd awful, but Bobby wasnt talking to the University or its fans.

I'm not so sure we'll ever know who wants the record more. Probably, both want the record, and will coach as long as they can for that and other reasons. Both will probably be forced out due to health issues...either their own, or something with their wives or families. I doubt either will choosed to step aside because they've had enough.

I think next year will be telling.
Bowden has had a few down years where his athletes won games on their own ability. If he makes changes to improve his team, I think he will deserve credit as a coach trying to win for his team. However, if things don't change and FSU continues to stumble, I think we can blame him for tyring to hold onto the record.
JoePa had a few bad years and looked pretty embarassing. However, he made changes and brought his team back to life. I think this year showed he is coaching and winning for the right reasons.

Only reason I say Jopa wants the record more is he has spoken about it far more often. He even got involved in the debate about some of Bowden's records not counting.

Yeah PapaB wants it more. Because he continues coaching after four sub-500 seasons in five years....wait no that is JoePa.
If Bowden cares so damn much about the fucking record, why is Jeffy an OC?
Answer me that you fucking morons.
Bowden doesnt give a shit about the record. Yeah he wouldnt mind having it but he would rather have his son keep his job.

Main difference between Joe Pa and Bobby is that Joe Pa saw his son was detrimental to the program and did something about it.
Surely Bowden has to see what a slug Jeff is but he refises to do something about it.
I have said this for the past 3 years.
In response to the critisism thrown at Jeff this past week, and it is really pilling on, Bobby called the media " cowards who never played the game". Also said that the complainers aren'nt real Noles fans.
This is not going to end well.

See, the parallels become even more pronounced. After reading your post, I've become convinced that Joe and Bobby have talked on the phone recently about this very issue. Their reactions sound about the same.

It's going to get down right ridiculous. Jeff better stay up in that fucking box or he's going to get shit tossed at him...
I can see it now...someone throws a coke it misses Jeffy and nails Rouse...who immediately jumps into the crowd....and a whole other bomb goes off.
Wonder what's going to happen this weekend?

What the fuck are you talking about?
Are you really saying Bowden doesn't care about the record and that is why he has his son in the box? Are you really trying to say that he cares more about his sons employment and that is why he keeps him in the box even though it compromises his teams ability to win?
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

Thats excactly what EVERY ONE is saying. If he truely gave a shit about the demise of his kingdom he would run his sons ass as well as Darrel Dicket, and Billy Sexton.
I am further saying that he is allowing his loyalty to the above mentioned short change the kids he recruited by not putting them in the best situation to succeed.

So this is what the great BBowden is turning into? A storied coach who is so shallow he lets his loyalty overshadow his decision making? Didn't happen with the numerous players he has suspended or kicked off the team for violations, has it?
BUT WAIT, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
If he cares more about his sons job he would have that same feeling for all his sons, right? So why the fuck is he 2-2 in the last four years versus Tommy and Clemson? Shouldn't he have been dumping those games?
Your thinking is flawed and most CFB fans would give the "founding father" of their program more leinancy than this.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
He knows that Jeff would never get another job worth a piss based on his own meritts as a coach.
Also I speak from observation over the past 5 years. FSU has glarring offensive problems that even Stevie Wonder could see. Yet The old man refuses to fix the obvious problem- the O coaching staff starting with Jeff.
Because he is BB he has gotten a pass for the past 5 years. Time is up. He needs to shit or get off the pot. It is quite sad to see him this way. He went from an inovater in the college game to a sad ole weathered man who has over stayed his welcome.

Well that is why this thread was started. That is why bobby said that quote up above. Learn to read and do research before you tell me what doesnt make sense.
But I understand where you were coming from. If I read what I posted and had no idea of the last 5 years at FSU, then I would say that doesnt make sense.

Nolesy,
Did you see the Mike Bianchi article in the Orlando Sentinel?
Here is a link to it:
FSU needs extreme makeover
My favorite part....
You see, Bobby Bowden isn't just the coach of Florida State football; he's the creator of it.
And, so, the question remains:
Will this creator sacrifice his son?
Not for the sake of sins, but for the sake of wins?

"Whenever we lose a ball game, it's, `Fire Jeff Bowden,' " Bobby Bowden said. "It irritates me. It's happened too many daggum times. I think people are getting personal. They had better be glad I'd like to keep this job."
He isnt mad he is losing ball games. All he does is defend Jeffry.
The only time he has shown passion the last 5 years is when he is defending his son.
But Sky, you know everything so please tell me what is really going on

Nolesy,
Drew Weatherford spoke to to the media earlier this week about what has gone wrong with the offense, how he is handling all the bad press directed at the program, facing Virginia Tech this weekend and much more. "We're the ones playing the game and it is unfortunate that he (Jeff Bowden) has to take all that heat, it kind of comes with the territory, like being a quarterback, but we're the guys not getting it done on the field."
You could almost replace Drew Weatherford with Chris Rix and it would be like a flashback.
Continue to blame the players Bobby. That will always win recruits over.

Hey fucko, I never said I knew everything.
I just find your initial train of thought--Bowden caring more about his son than losing football games--questionable.
There are a million ways that statment could be taken. Obviously it doesn't show concern in the right areas for a noles fan but I think you are going a little far with your analysis.
He has progressively gotten worse the last three years, if he doesn't fix it next year and keeps things as they are, I might see more truth to your point. However, he is a storied FB coach who made you guys who you are--how about cutting him a little slack and realizing that we don't know everything that is going on.
I can't believe this, I am standing up for BBowden. May God strike me with a lightning bolt and forsake me for this sin.

Its been 5. Not 3. They blamed chris rix for 4 years and this year they are blaming the offensive line and the defense. The fucking defense. The nole fans and nole administration doesnt make sense to me anymore.
However, he is a storied FB coach who made you guys who you are--how about cutting him a little slack and realizing that we don't know everything that is going on.
I cut him slack when he promoted his son without the qualifications. I cut him slack when we ran a high school offense with a former 2nd string high school qb at qb. I cut him slack when we lost to miami the 3 straight times. But after the 2003 season i quit cutting him slack. Why? Because he hired his son and he wont ever get rid of him.
You dont believe it. You somehow know more than me.
So please tell me when Bobby is going to do the right thing? You know quit blaming the players he recruited and starting blaming his dumbass son for his dumbass playcalling.
-------
BTW,
Here is another link:
Critics want Bowden to fire his son
Veteran Seminole radio color analyst Peter Tom Willis, dismayed at some of the play calling this season, said the Seminoles had ''a high school offense'' during one broadcast. A quarterback for Bobby Bowden in the late 1980s, Willis has long been a fan favorite for his candid observations.

Yeah, they looked real bad against the #1 scoring defense on Saturday. And really, what does an Orange bowl appearance mean--he should win a national championship EVERY YEAR, huh.
