Iowa vs Nebraska in the Alamo is only a UCLA loss to USC away!
Does NU even stand a chance in this game? I'd say maybe the slightest bit of a chance. No way can they stop our pass offense and no way does their offense do anything but move the ball from 20 to 20.
Barring a fluke.....
Iowa 28
Huskers 13

Just like NU was a 15-17 point dog to Colorado because we wouldn't be able to stop their pass attack?

I don't think Neb would beat Iowa, the chances that we play like we did against CU aren't that good. But we would have more than the slightest bit of a shot you said. Iowa has played well of-late but is not the team they were supposed to be at the start of the season.
We hung in with OU and Tech, hell either game could have been a win, we could hang-in with Iowa and have a chance to win at the end.
Iowa 24
Neb 17
A win would be nice but I could take a competitive loss, a bitchslapping would be a step-backward.

The Colorado game gave me hope that Nebraska is now catching on to this new fangled idea of the forward pass. A win in the Alamo bowl might lead to other Nebraska experiments in progress like indoor plumbing and dental hygene. :D

Hell no they don't stand a chance. Not with 20 future all-pro's starting for Iowa.

That could only have been to even up the betting. The only way a Joel Klatt quarterbacked team should warrant that big a spread would be against an 8th grade girls team

That's kinda funny, SC because this will be the 1st time I've ever rooted for Ohio State in a bowl game since they're playing Notre Dame. Regardless of who you or I root for in the bowl games, you're still a douchebag.

Call it lame all you want Nolesy. But if Iowa played Florida State and didn't win by at least 20, I think our coaching staff would deserve to be fired. Nice showing in Gainseville last week, dickhead!

why weren't they fired after successive ASS PLUNGERINGS at the hands of ISU and tOSU??? Your fucking pathetic squad scored 3 points against an average ISU squad and you scored a whopping FUCKING 6 points against tOSU with 35 first round picks on offense...You are a fucking idiot...

I would think that would be a no doubt win for Iowa. After all, Iowa has 20 nfl draft picks. Plus FSU's offense since the mid season has disappeared, just like you do after Iowa gets thier ass kicked.

Put the name "Oklahoma" on the front of Drew Tate's jersey, give him Oklahoma's roster around him, and then we'll see where Drew Tate keeps his Heisman trophy.

Tate should have won a Heisman with 47 first round picks around him...

So you're saying Tate should have gone to a better school like Oklahoma? And all kidding aside, buckeye_in_sc has a point. You were the one who stated that Iowa was swimming with future NFL talent. If Tate is as good, and Iowa's roster is as good as you think it is, there should be no problem with Tate and his chances of winning the Heisman.

Iowa has a lot of guys that are going to get drafted. I never said we have a lot that are going to be high picks like OU had the last 2 years. Tate has talent around him, but not even close to what White had. And, like I also mentioned, the name on the jersey says Iowa and not Oklahoma. That is a HUGE factor in Heisman voting.

But not his overall play and 40+ TD's?
You've stated that Soloman will be one of the top 5 WR's taken, Hinkel will be one of the top 10-12 WR's taken, and Hodge will be a first rounder. And you said your entire line will get drafted. Sounds like some pretty high picks in there to me. Not to mention that Tate is one of the top 5 QB's in the country, according to you.

Killian,
I will give you $10,000 if you find me one single post where I said any O-lineman outside of Mike Jones will get drafted. White had better backs, receivers, and O-linemen around him. Plus, he had the name "Oklahoma" on the front of his jersey. I'm not trying to say Tate doesn't have talent around him, but not even close to what White had. Just because White won a Heisman doesn't mean he's a more talented QB. You trying to tell me he's more talented than Eli because he won it and Eli didn't? You've got to understand what Tate has done in his career. Last year, he led this team to a 10-2 record with a white-boy walk-on running back behind him and an inexperience O-line. This year, due to injuries, he had to deal with an inexperienced line. Early in the year, he was running for his life. Anyone that thinks Jason White is a more talented QB is basically your typical college football fan. NFL fans know football, college football fans just parrot things they here from people like Herbstreit and Corso. Jason White doesn't have a lick of fucking talent. He's a good kid that played hard and was a system QB. Anyone that knows anything at all aobut football knows that.

it's not April 1st is it?
have you ever lived in an NFL town? NFL fans are clodhoppers who (like girls) know only "skill position" players and like to say "cover two" at the sports bar because they heard Howie Long say it.
most CFB boards i read, people make fun of Gameday. you are just out your mind Jon.

Right, because you've proven to be the bastion of football knowledge and objectivity in this forum? So with all of your opinions about college football, do you just parrot what Jon Miller types? You know, the fact that Iowa has one of the best WR/TE groups in the nation and Drew Tate is a top 3 QB, in the nation? And most NFL fans do not
know football. If CFB fans parrot those two douchebags, NFL fans are worse with Kiper, their local media and what's said on the NFL pregame shows.
And the closest you came to saying anything about the line was that Ferentz may get drafted. Silly me, I made the conclusion when you were going on about the talent level when compared to UofM (you said Iowa's line was better), that you were of the opinion that multiple lineman will be drafted out of Iowa, seeing as how that is going to be the case with UofM.
White had plenty of talent. Did he have NFL talent? No. Not many college QB's do. But I bet he will win as many games in the NFL as Drew Tate.

Me parrot Jon Miller? AHAHAHAHAHA! Now that is funny. Jon happens to be a co-worker of mine (well, kind of). We have spent countless hours debating just about anything. I'm not sure I've ever agreed with him on anything! I respect the crap out of him (especially since we root for the same teams in all sports), but I can guarantee you I never parrot him.
I should have clarified something...Not all college fans don't know much about football. I meant the average fan. And that includes MOST posters on this board. ie Nolesy, buckeye in sc, etc.... I watch Gameday and then see the same shit Herbie or that idiot Corso says posted on this board all the time. How many times do you see an ESPN CFB analyst actually break down X's and O's or talk about anything other than a big star on any team? NEVER! Why? Because most CFB fans wouldn't even understand what they're talking about. NFL shows break down gamefilm all the time because their fans understand it.
CFB fans are clearly more intelligent on average. Heck, the average IQ of an NFL fan is probably a single digit. But your average NFL does know football. They may not know anything else, however.
As for Tate......He'll make it in the NFL. He won't be a high pick, but he will make it. Maybe just as a backup, but he has NFL talent. Put 2 inches on him and he's a Top 10 pick. All I heard from everyone about Bob Sanders was how he was too small and now he's forming into one of the top safeties in the NFL. Answer me this, why can Drew Brees make it in the NFL, but not Tate?? Tate is not a system QB, Jason White was. He could not succeed without great talent around him and with a good system. Tate could and he proved that last year.

I wouldn't exactly say "awful." He had some bad players around him earlier in his career. But he's gotten better on his deep ball too.
