Favre has stated that if Sherman goes than he will go, but Mooch was Favre's QB coach and he loves the guy...thoughts....

Favre is fucked either way. He'll never play for a winner again.

If they are smart, they'll keep Shermanator and add Mooch.But it won't stop Favre from playing .500 near the end of games.

Green Bay would be a spot that makes sense. He and Favre already have a great relationship...unlike in Detroit with Harrington. If I were a betting man, he'll either end up in Green Bay in some capacity or he'll become the new head coach at MSU.

If another coach is able to get this talent to play well, we'll know it was Mooch's fault. It's not like Millen has put a talented team on the field. He just hasn't done enough to build a strong offensive line.

Mooch MIGHT have a little success if he coached GB next year. With a full arsenal of talent in Javon Walker, Donald Driver and Ahman Green, I think Favre can make one last hoorah. I'm not talking Superbowl but I don't think the playoffs are out of the question.

If you look beyond the one season left that Favre will play, than you encounter the same situation Mooch just left. Coaching a college Qb who was touted as one of the best leaving college and trying to mold him into a "Brett Favre". Its just not going to happen.

No thanks. His bastardized west coast dink-n-dunk offense won't get it done in the Big Ten. At least John L throws the ball down the field and plays to win. Now if he can just work on the winning part...

Getting a good quarterback will take some pressure off the offensive line. Everyone has been talking about for years how awful Detroit's offensive line is, and it's no coincidence that during these same years, Detroit has had inept quarterbacks. Defenses pound that offensive line at will because they know the Lions won't/can't throw it down field. I don't care who's on that line, they're simply not going to be able to hold up on every down because teams know what they're going to do. I wouldn't say they're underrated, but their actual offensive linemen are not as bad as everyone thinks.

I'm not saying the o-line doesn't need to be beefed up, what I am saying is that it's not their biggest problem. The Lions' playcalling is horribly predictable. Every team stacks 8 in the box and kills them because they know they won't throw it down the field. I've seen it time and time again for many years now.

Mooche's name has been whispered in these parts should Vermiel decide to hang 'em up... As has Joey Harrington's as Heir Successor to Trent Greene.

Should be an interesting off-season.

No, the receiver positions are not an issue. All they need to do is stay healthy and out of trouble so they can all be on the field at once. But talented receivers or not, they need a capable quarterback who can get them the ball.

Which is another reason Millen is a bigger problem than the offensive line. He's wasted too many draft picks trying to focus on one dimension of the football team.

The changes I felt needed to be made were simply:

-Axe Harrington and try to draft high for a QB again (except scout better)
-Axe Millen
-Beef up the O line

I always had mixed feelings on axing Mooch or not. I wanted to see what he could do with a revamped offense (linemen and QB). Millen and Co. never gave him that opportunity.
