Iowa to outback, Michigan to Alamo

According to Big-10 Commissioner Jim Delaney, it's a done deal if USC wins and LSU wins, Iowa will play Florida in the Outback and Michigan goes to Alamo Bowl.

Who goes to the Capital One (if not tOSU)? Wisconsin? Northwestern?

Wisconsin is a lock for the Cap One, that was determined long ago.

Damn, I wanted the Outback...only an hour away.

I still actually think UM goes to Tampa and Iowa to San Antonio. Delaney says that isn't the case, and obviously he has more insight than anyone else would.

I'd rather see Mich in the Outback. I would go see that one. Who gives a crap about Iowa? I'll watch their team next year on SUndays.

Do you have a link, JON?

Seems to me that Michigan is the more logical choice for the more prestigious bowl. Both have identical records, but Michigan has much more appeal on a national basis. Not to mention a quick comparison of OOC losses: Michigan's was to Notre Dame, Iowa's was to Iowa State.

plus Iowa scored a whopping 9 points in two losses to ISU and tOSU...but with 59 first round draft picks you would have thought 10 points wouldn't have been out of the question...

fuck off idiot...

that would mean it is a done deal with tOSU in the BCS...nothing is final until about 5:30 EST or so on Sunday when the selections to the BCS are announced and to believe otherwise is mTOOLISH...

I'll find the link in a while and post it. It was actually from a suburban Chicago newspaper is where the article came from and then SI reported it today.

The reason they would take Iowa over Michigan is because Florida is the likely opponent. And Florida isn't going to bring tourism to Tampa because they don't actually have to travel! Everyone knows Iowa is going to bring more fans than Michigan will. The game probably won't even sell otu if Michigan is the opponent (as was the case in 2002), but it will sell out in 5 minutes if Iowa is. Now, should LSU lose to Georgia, it's possible they could end up in Tampa. Then they would select Michigan because they'd get the national appeal for TV with Michigan along with the traveling fans of LSU.

From strictly a football standpoint, I'm not really sure how you can select Iowa or Michigan over N'Western or Minnesota. Or visa versa. We're all 7-4. Iowa beat Minnesota. Minnesota beat Michigan. Michigan beat Iowa. N'Western beat Iowa. Michigan beat Northwestern. Regardless of what happened on the field, there is no doubt taht Iowa is CLEARLY the best of the 4 teams. Upsets and flukes happen (ie Iowa vs Northwestern), but Iowa is the best matchup for a good SEC team. None of the other 3 would stand much of a shot.

never mind all of michigans losses were by 7 points or less

i mean Wisconsin last play of the game, Minnesota last play of the game, ND lost by 7, and tOSU lost by 4...plus they beat PSU...yep Iowa is heads and shoulders above them considering shower rods were all out of stock after the ISU and tOSU games...you continually wow me with your stupidity there kreskin...

any chance we can get a texas hold em game with Jon? Talk about a fish...

ok so what is your real name?

Johnny Chan = Bitch
Phil Ivey = Bitch

mmm...kay...you work in Chicago (supposedly) and now you are a poker pro....nice...can we get a board vote on what Jon really does for a living?

what is your screen name on Party, FTP, Poker Stars???

I work in Chicago? That's news to me. Actually I play in $2/$5 ($200 buy-in) No-limit games or $8-$16 limit games. On occasion I'll play in $500 buy-in pot limit Omaha or pot-limit hold 'em games too. I have a regular job, however, I play poker a lot and have been making a buttload of cash doing so. I never play internet poker. Never have, never will. So I have no poker screen name.

My mom keeps nagging me to go out and find a date or make some friends but what does she know. Between all my friends at party poker and my 30 minute Iowa highlight tape, I am good.

Whatever...it ain't the Rose Bowl so, the hell with it. I can never sit and watch a Michigan bowl game from start to finish...I can never stay excited about it. It would be kind of cool to see them play Oklahoma or Nebraska...I don't know what the Big XII tie-in is for the game.

I have a feeling you will be facing Colorado unless they win the Big 12 then it will be Iowa state or Nebraska.

Here is my guess at the Big 12 bowl lineup.

BCS - Texas
Cotton - Taco Tech
Holiday - Oklahoma
Alamo - Colorado

Nebraska, ISU going to the lower tier bowls. I have no idea who else is bowl eligible. Maybe Kansas and Baylor.

Alamo will take Nebraska over CU.

"Baylor": the fact you admit that you don't follow college football comes as no surprise to most of us.

CU is the north champion why would they take Nebraska over CU? I know what Nebraska did to them I just don't think it is enough to overlook the division winner.

I follow the good teams in college football not the shitty ones, probably why it came as a complete shock to me that OU was again ranked.

would a team that was ranked in the top 10 that gave up 60 points twice fall into the category of "good" or "shitty".

just curious.

You follow Texas....short of this year and last year, (a year you lost the Big 12 south)... I guess I'd request you to define good. (you'll have to leave OU & NU out of the definition.)

Two reasons why the Alamo Bowl would select NU over cu:
1. One team heading up...one team heading down:
2. 2,000 to 3,000 tickets CU : 10,000 to 15,000 tickets NU

Jon you ignorant ass!!

A) Florida is full of Michigan transplants.

2) People from Michigan love to travel to Florida in the winter

and C) Michigan is often chosen particularly because they travel well.

You sir, are an idiot.

i'm hoping san antonio and a big 12 matchup. if we're going to play oklahoma or nebraska, i prefer to do it on one of their down years. every time we get a traditional power, some douche like navarre is running shit and we lose 100-23. not like we're on the upswing, but at least all of our games have been competive.

i'm also pulling for the alamo b/c sa's a much better place to rock out than tampa. i haven't been to either, but seriously.. i suppose the outback is more "prestigious," but isn't outback or alamo, alamo or outback a bit like splitting hairs? i won't go as far as shoalzie and opt out of the third quarter for a wank, but if it's not bcs than it's for fun. unless we lose.

i think i'll be at field level for whichever game we end up at. my friend's the photag for umich and asked if i'd like to come along as his "assistant." it appears my options are between meeting ppl in texas or those in florida. oh, and getting drunk. i love holiday. and electricity. and running water. and my coat..

Bowls are about $, and Neb fans will bring more than CU fans. The only way CU has a chance for the Alamo is if they take Texas to the wire.

If Mich is our opponent rather than Iowa we are screwed. We have comparable talent to Iowa. Mich has had a disappointing season but all their losses were close and now Carr is coaching with his back to the wall. He has to win this bowl, he'll have the players ready for war.

Dude sack up and give your team some love.

I don't think you're that well-coached a team, you're not, but you do have a hell of a lot of talent and your coaches will at-least have your guys well-motivated.

If Neb plays like they did against CU we could pull the upset, but chances are we won't.

A fifth loss would be a tempting reason to can Carr, he has to win this game.

no, i just overstate my cause. or at least i'll continue to as long as carr's shitting himself all over the sideline.

the state thing doesn't work for me b/c i don't laugh at shite teams the way i don't laugh at cripples. at least you won't catch me referring to an 8-4 or 7-5 season as "lost." a bugger, but what can you do? at least i don't have aids.

I would define good as 9 wins or better, top 12 ranking you get the idea.

Outside of Texas I would not consider anyone in the Big 12 as good. I don't think either CU or NU is headed up, but I think NU has proven to be better than CU. I will accept that NU will bring a lot of people and they will be better behaved than the CU knuckleheads.
