Arkansas State - Southern Miss

I see Arkansas St. coming out strong with their dominating running game. However, Southern Miss's D will be up to the challenge by stacking 8 in the box. No air attack for ArS and the Southern Miss running game will take over.
Southern Miss - 31
Arkie St. - 17

I think USM will win by more than 14. Ark. St. went over a month without scoring more than 10 pts. in a game until their finale against North Texas, who was putrid this year.

Rack Cicero. First time for everything.
I suppose you could justify a sticky for this one on the basis that it kicks off bowl season. But in that case it might be best to wait until 1-2 days before the game.

ND-OSU gets its own sticky. Why not this?

Because absolutely nobody in their right testicle cares about this game, and there's certainly not enough people on this board who care to merit giving it a sticky. Meanwhile, ND-OSU is a game every one of us will watch and it's a flash point game for many of this board's die hard ND and OSU denizens.

Then where is the PSU-FSU sticky because I am about to go off on some blue and white mother fuckers.

Create it, and it'll likely stick. Hell, replace this one with that one.

Actually, I have a cousin who once drove to Arkansas to buy a truck off an ebay seller, and I passed through Hattiesburgh to get to Biloxi a few years back.

Here's the thread.
As for the sticky, hopefully Indy or Killian will do the honors.

I just like restating my distaste for bowl season. Aside from the Rose Bowl, I'm not working myself up into a lather over any of the games. Even Michigan-Nebraska with all of the history behind it...I doesn't get me excited like I was for the Notre Dame, Michigan State and Ohio State games. It's the eqvalent of getting excited about your basketball team in NIT instead of the Big Dance...even if you win, you don't really win anything.

Winning is winning. Ive been lucky that FSU has a good history of going to New Years day bowls, but I still like to see my team win. My Noles are 8-4 and yeah the arent going to win the MNC, but I def want to see them win in the Orange Bowl and set the tone for the Spring.

No, we just need a playoff so these games in December and January have real meaning. I'm done sitting idly by while college football continues with their archaic tradition of bowl games. I'm sick of the ever-changing sponsorship for games. I'm sick of seeing two 6-5 teams playing a week before Christmas. And I'm sick of the BCS. Until there is a playoff, I'm not going to be satisfied.

yeah, these games have no real meaning. 'tis why i'm willing to drive 24 hours to san antonio to witness one traditional power or the other fall to 7-5. or why 112,000 ppl would show up in november to watch a football game between two teams whose seasons are considered disappointments. we could contrast that to a sport who attaches real meaning to its games, like the nfl. that texans/titans game was overflowing with fan interest.
and if yr sick of the ever-changing corporate sponsorship of the bowl games, i'd suggest giving up sport all together.

Most of us are just happy to be able to loaf around on Saturday afternoons and watch college football. I remember the days where I held down shitty sales or blue collar jobs that required I work weekends, or every other, and it was so disappointing not being able to watch any of the day games.
I root for my team with all the passion I have, and if they lose, it sucks, but I go on about my day. I never understood those who have more frustration than passion for the game. It just doesn't seem worth it to me. I mean, if I only took value in a championship season, like a Shoalzie does, there just wouldn't be any point to continue being a fan, because you're going to be bummed 99.99999999% of your rooting life.

Hey, I'm not telling anyone how to be a fan and I hope you're not doing that to me. I don't get excited about these glamorized consolation games like I used to and that's mostly from the frustration of college football's resistance to adopt a playoff system. If you want to travel to the game or watch the game on TV, I'm not stopping you...it's just one guy's opinion, it's not the law of the land. If we're talking about games between August and November, I'm onboard but I'm done with bowl games.

Shoalzie,
So, if Michigan has 3 losses going into the Ohio State game, and you know they WILL NOT make the 8 team playoff field, you turn the channel? Your fandom only lasts as long as they have a chance to make the playoffs? Methinks you just outed yourself as Mr. Bandwagon. Hey, at least you're not in denial like Cicero25.

Michigan not making the BCS championship game is the equivalent of the Lions missing the playoffs. Once the regular season is over, I wait until next year because the title is out the window. If they were in the Rose Bowl against USC or Texas, it would be another story but since they aren't, I don't have any interest in it...just that simple. That's not bandwagon, I just don't acknowledge all of the bowl games that have no meaning towards determining the national champion because of my stance on a playoff. Why is this so wrong? I'm sorry that I'm not losing my mind over the Alamo Bowl...I didn't know I was supposed to. But again, I'm not saying any other MichiganFan shouldn't get up for it...it's your choice. It's not like I'm wearing Texas and USC gear right now. I'm still a MichiganFan and always will be...I just don't give a crap about the bowl games. Between them playing in a game and not is no big deal...if they win, they aren't advancing to the next round of a tournament to determine the national title so I'm just not showing interest in this game.

actually, missing the bcs is not the equivalent of missing the nfl playoffs. what will osu or notre dame get for winning the fiesta bowl? cookies? cf's a different animal and has to accomodate a lot more than 30 teams.

You didn't answer my question. Michigan is out of the playoffs (or BCS games as you mentioned) and they are going to play Ohio State for their regular season finale. You have no interest?
Believe it or not, being a bandwogan fan doesn't mean you just jump from team to team with whoever is winning. It also means you only follow and support your team as long as they are winning. By that, I mean you watch the games, you travel to the games, etc.
Get your sig pens ready...
The Aggies haven't won a national title since 1939. We were 5-5 going into the Texas game. That didn't keep me from being glued to the television just to see us upset Texas and make the bluebonnetfurniture.com Bowl if not only to at least see Reggie McNeal play just one more game or see a little more of this new Steven McGee.
I don't expect everyone to be as passionate about their team as me. I don't expect everyone to go into a druken rage when their team loses like skull. However, when you say you turn off the tube as soon as your team is out of the BCS picture, you are BandwagonFan's poster boy.

Shoalzie I would agree with Frisco. I don't know how you can't care about UM despite their record. Each game lends some credibility to your team and your legacy. UM fans are often "so" proud that they have more victories than anyone else, that they have made bowl games for X number of years and that they have won X number of Big10 championships.
Even if you aren't that type of fan, not caring about a team when they accrue 3 or 4 losses is a poor showing. Like he said, didn't you watch the OSU game, you obviously cared then. But why? It wouldn't have done anything but get you in better, albeit "lesser" bowl game if your reasoning is something you really hold true to.

I apologize for not answering you...yes, I do have interest in the Ohio State game every year regardless of the stakes. This year, if they had won and Penn State lost, they'd be Big Ten champs. I wouldn't be worried about the BCS bid though since they wouldn't be in the national title game. In other years, it's about either ruining Ohio State's season when Michigan has nothing to play for or the game could be for the conference title. However, after the regular season I don't worry about them going to the Outback, Alamo, Capital One or whatever bowl since I'm anti-bowls.

I definitely get what you're saying here.
Last year, there was a lot of controversy among ND fans as to whether we should accept the Insight Bowl's invite at 6-5. In the end, I came down on the side that we should go, not because I thought we had an outstanding season, or because I thought it was a real honor to go to the Insight Bowl, but based on the following reasons:
1. Although ND once had a no-bowl game policy, that policy changed a long time ago, and much has changed in the world of college football since that time.
2. The implicit policy that ND would never play in a bowl game with no impact on the national championship ended a long, long time ago -- at the latest, with our acceptance of the 1983 Liberty Bowl bid against Flutie and Fredo, if not before in the 1976 Gator Bowl against Penn State.
3. The national media skewered ND for turning down offers to the Independence and Copper Bowls in 1996 after an 8-3 season when we were passed over for the Bowl Alliance. Whether we like it or not, the landscape of college football has changed, and the fanbase expects
every bowl-eligible team who receives an invite to play in a bowl game.
4. We made the deal with the Big East as to its non-BCS bowls to avoid a repeat of '96. If we really didn't want to commit to its terms, we never should have made the deal in the first place, rather than backing out once we find ourselves in a situation where we don't like the results.
