Anise question

Hey-

Any of you fuckers ever needed to use Anise extract to substitute for Star Anise? I'm making my chilled peach soup for a family Christmas party tommorow night and I need a star anise. The store was out- so I'm stuck!
The extract is very strong and I don't want to overbear the soup. Any idea how much I should use?

More than a dash.
Less than a cup.

Beyond that I have no idea.

Actually if I were you (or you me?) I'd get a bottle of ouzo and pour the whole damn thing in.

Turns out an 1/8 of a teaspoon was good... not as good as fresh anise- but still good!
