skins vs dallas

ok, dallas fan. here is your shot at redemption.
a couple of months ago, the skins finally did the boys in in a way they have been burned by the boys so often in recent years. the boys blew a nearly insurmountable lead- especially considering how poorly the skins O was playing- with less than 4 minutes to play. it was potentially more devastating considering both teams current playoff hopes.
as a skins fan, i loved hearing the crying over at cowboyszone over how lucky the skins were, how the boys outplayed the skins, how sad skins fans were to be celebrating....
ironic, i think, considering the rivalrys recent history. how did it taste?
i heard the skins are an early 2.5 point favorite. not sure if i fully agree, but i can understand why...
skins are playing at home.
skins won game 1.
maybe the cold weather favors them and their superior running game?
reasons the skins should lose-
-redemption.
-dallas' O is better (passing anyhow- the skins pass O has been pretty dismal for weeks, although the rushing O has been more consistent).
-most importantly, the skins could be without their top 2 CB's- springs and rogers. given that bledsoe has been throwing the ball decently and dallas hasnt run it well- this could be very bad, especially considering the pass rush for the skins has been inconsistent.
losing to the bucs then to the raiders and chargers at home- all winnable games in which the skins saw a late lead evaporate- was devastating to the skins. the D embarrasingly couldnt stop anyone vs the bucs. then the very next week, the skins O scored all of 6 points against a D that just gave up 26 to the jets- the skins ran the ball all of 8 times the second half- with a lead. WTF? then, both sides caved late against the chargers the next week.
defensively----getting griffin back on the D line recently has helped the skins D tremendously- they are resembling last years/early this years D. they can handle a team that hasnt run the ball effectively, but can pass if they need to (arizona last week is a good example). the bad news is the possible injuries to the CB's- 1st round pick rogers has played like a stud since he has started the past few weeks. springs has been a rock who seemingly never gets beat, unlike the guy he replaced.
offensively-- brunell has not looked very good since the tampa game. he resembles last years performance more so than the guy who ran around making clutch throws and runs early on. i wish i knew what gives with this guy. the skins lost david patten weeks ago, but he did literally nothing except draw a couple of pass INT calls in the 6 weeks or whatever he played. jacobs- all world in practice so they say- has done nothing but drop a few balls. thrash-say what you want about him, but him being hurt has not helped. he is an outstanding ST player and was making alot of key third down catches. it seems the number 2 and 3 WR's are getting open at times, but brunell doesnt see them. not good.
at least portis has picked up his game. he's not what i would like him to be, but he's getting better.
the key to this game seems obvious to me- if springs and rogers cant go, it will be on the O's shoulders to score points and that is bad news for the skins.
still- calling my shot-
skins 20
boys 17
