Here's how the postseason will go...
In the past when I ran the game exclusively on the message board and the number of participants were nearly half of what we've had this year, I took 8 players from each conference to compete in a tournament-style playoff coinciding with the NFL playoffs. This year, I want to reward the division winners. The new format will go like this...
The 8 division winners receive automatic byes through the first round of the tournament. The 5 top wild cards in each conference will qualify and compete in the first round in group play. In other words, the 5 wild cards in each league will compete in two groups picking the Wild Card weekend games. The winner of each group/conference advances to the second round to compete with the 4 division winners from that respective conference and the same format will be used. The 5 players will pick the Divisional games but instead the top 2 from each group/conference will advance to the semifinals. The two remaining players from each conference will compete head-to-head picking the Conference Championships and the two winners advance to the finals. They will pick the winner of Super Bowl XL as well as other proposition questions relating to the game (MVP, leading rusher, total first downs, etc.)
The playoff standings will be up shortly in the standings thread in the Pick 'Em forum. Also, I'll have the pick percentage and MNF total score accuracy as well. These two stats are significant in breaking ties to determine division winners and who makes the playoffs. When the playoffs begin, in the event of tie, the player who had more points in the regular season will advance.
If you have any questions, post them or PM me. I apologize for not coming up with this sooner...I've been thinking of different scenarios for a few weeks and I feel pretty good about this one. I hope you'll enjoy it...
