Lindale White

In my opinion is the best runningback in college football. No offense to Reggie and all the things he does but Lindale White is going to be a monster in the NFL. He reminds me of Ricky Williams with the way he punishes his opponents. IMO if he was the feature back at USC instead of Bush he would have probably won the Heisman. And this is from a guy who came into the game respecting his game, now my respect has reached a whole new level.

He reminds of Jerome Bettis or a healthy Eddie George. He always falls forward, takes care of the ball and has a nose for the endzone.

He was racking up yards in the first quarter, six or seven a pop up the middle.

I couldn't understand why they abandoned that almost completely until the second half.

White is a better ball-carrier than Bush but he's not quite the home run threat. They've made for an awesome duo at SC.

If he comes out I hope the Pack take him at #5.

I disagree with all of this. He hasn't been tested and from what he has done he looks only above average. He has lived off the Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush scraps all year long, hence the 26+ TD w/ below expected yards.

Had he been required to carry the load, play in and play out, running or blocking every play of every series, then we would be able to tell. He doesn't compare to someone like Ricky Williams because Ricky had to do it himself.

^^^^

You have the biggest fucking stick up your ass against USC. Did Bush/Leinart run a train on your mom or something?

White has been a source of consternation among Buff fans since he's from Denver and never considered CU due to the influence on an uncle who got sideways with Barnett or CU in the past....for some reason. the relations between CU football and the Denver black community have always been pretty strained....at best.

but, he was pretty much as sure thing as there was coming out of HS.

So, Carroll and company were expecting more than 100 YPG and 1300 yards on the season?

I was wondering if the rest of the country was going to be awed by LenDale. His play last night was no suprise to us West Coasters. Dude is way badass between the tackles.

White's a definite badass and he could become an Icky Woods, Jamaal something or other (I'm drawing a blank here...the bruising Atlanta Falcons back during the "Dirty Bird" era) or even a Ricky Williams.

Problem is, those guys never last long before they get too beaten up. Very short shelf life for that type of runner, by and large...

Overall, I'm impressed by him but not to the level of a Reggie Bush or a Ricky Williams. He's good, obviously, but since he's the third option the load he's carrying is a lot easier than that of a true featured back.

We'll see, but I'm expecting him to be serviceable in the NFL, not dominant.

LenDale will be a great back in the pros, and he's definitely not coming back for his senior season.

His performance last night sealed it, plus he hates going to class.

That bums me out cuz I'd like to see him as a featured back. It's always been thunder and lightnin with him and Reg, so it was my hope that he'd come back for a Senior year and be the featured back. He'd probably be the featured option in the offense for sure, with a new QB busting in.

He definitely made a statement last night, but I'm hoping you're wrong on this one, Meds.

It's probably still at least a 5-1 ratio though of bruiser backs who prematurely wore down compared to those who had long careers.

King Crimson, Jamaal Anderson, that's the one, thanks.

Dumb take, Van. Yeah, if only those big backs had the fleet feet that Billy Sims and Gayle Sayers had, they wouldn't have worn down and gone out early, right?

so it took this long for you to make this assump[tion???

I was on here, before season pimping Lyndel White as a monster at RB, and the better RB(not better athlete) So now your sucking his dick at game 12??? Nice that you actually pay attention to more than your longhorns! I even said he would be the best NFL pro over young, leinhart, bush, etc. But hey, why not wait till game 12 to realize there are more than 2 players on each team :meds:

Meds and van are my proof that i have been on Whites nuts, and there isnt anymore room for anyone else to sockle on!

Uhm Adel...It's "LenDale," and that was game 13 for USC.

But continue, though, by all means.

Those must be my nuts you're on, because I've been on LenDale's for three seasons now :)

Leinart and Bush get all the run, but I'm convinced that had we not recruited LenDale in the same class with Bush, none of this would have been possible. Maybe a Rose Bowl or two, but that's all.

SC had struggled for years to develop an Oline and recruit a brutal, between-the-tackles-asshole like LenDale. A true dick who uses his body to hurt people, plays hurt all the time, etc.

I may miss him more than any other player in recent memory...kid is gone.

Take heart...there's another such guy that may even make people forget what an unholy bruiser LenDale was...he'll just be playing for the Quacks.

And after getting gangraped by OU, the emergence of Jonathan Stewart is what Ducksfan is thinking about now. They probably should have redshirted him this year, but oh well.

I think there's some people who underestimate the value of a guy who always falls forward, and NEVER loses yards...like LenDale.

Close.

Stewart was probably going to Washington until they hired Ty.

Truth be told, a lot of West Coast stars lean towards U of O because the athletic department turns a blind eye to all of the potsmoking. Great recruiting tool, actually, and makes it quite the destination for De La Salle High School grads these days.

course, i thought Steven Jackson would be an excellent Rb in the NFL.Jury still out, but running east and west will not get you a yard on 4th and 1! He still hasn't learned that part yet for the Lambs!

Funny thing was(not that it has anything to do with Oregon), that Jackson (he played for the Idiots, not the Ducks), was very strictly a north-south guy for the Beavs. That guy never saw any defensive player he didn't want to run over the top of.

If I was the Lambs, I sure wouldn't have shelved one of the greatest players in history to bet the farm on Jackson, although he was as much of a lock as a future NFL runner as anyone has been in a while...not that there's any such thing as a lock. I guess with him still available with that pick, I would have dome the same thing, but then again, I saw him play about a zillion college games.

Dins, quit playing the IB Contrarian role. You know full well that power backs in the NFL don't last as long as other backs who don't rely on dishing out and receiving physical contact on every carry.

Guys like Earl Campbell, Icky Woods, Jamaal Anderson and Eddie George, they wear down prematurely (on average, with obvious exceptions), as opposed to less physical backs.

Yes, but Reggie often as not tends to make his own yards as opposed to merely getting what his line creates for him, plus a few extra, which is more White's M.O...

Reggie will still be able to bust explosive runs in the NFL while White will need his line to dominate.

You're trolling now.

I'll let you in on a secret -- Big backs are generally much larger than speed backs, and are thusly more able to take the punishment. Duh. In another shocking turn of events, this is why GMs of NFL teams will ALWAYS draft the bigger guy for the future of their team, all other factors being equal.

Yeah, piling up 1300 yards and 8000 TDs as a second-stringer is easy...

I'm not in the mood right now for your "You're trolling now" comments...

You know I never troll so drop it.

Bigger backs isn't the issue. It's the big back who looks for contact, the guy who looks to dish it out and go through people rather than around them that tend to have shorter careers...

Never said "second stringer". I said he's the third option, behind Leinart throwing and Bush getting touches, and that's what he is.

He's definitely an animal though and like Meds said I'll miss the fuck out of him. I love those downhill runners who always fall forward.

Uhm no...they don't. And since this is your original contention, throw up some stats, or drop it. I seriously doubt you'll find any stats to back your claims, since there aren't any, but if you do somehow, I'll grant you the fact.

Here's the deal -- every NFL RB is getting whacked by some really pissed off really huge dudes on every play. A 240 pound man is going to ba able to handle this over time better than a 180 pound man, unless said 180 pound man is a pussy who doesn't play the complete position to include blocks and short yardage...like Warrick Dunn. If dude is actually doing his job, than the bigger man is going to win this battle every time.

Anyone who saw Earl Campbell in the 70's knows that he is the ultimate power back, he lasted for only 7 years. Today he can't even walk I saw him at a practice and it brought me to tears, his body is shot.

Dins, just like your social butterfly of a cock it's not about size, it's about style.

It's the backs who go looking to create contact who wear down sooner, regardless of their size. Little scatbacks don't wear down as soon and neither do largee elusive backs.

Guys like Bettis are few and far between. Woods, Anderson and Eddie George are more the norm...

Give it a rest, homer.

With ALL due respect to the great Earl Campbell(who I saw play many times as a child, and enjoyed every minute of it), Bo Jackson* and Jim Brown were better power backs. Bo just brought a few moves and some speed to the table, as well, but he could still out-power Earl.

And shall I start listing off smaller backs who had short careers, too?

Sorry, but the whole "since Earl Campbell was a power runner, and had a short career, the average power back will also have a short career"...well, did M2 put you up to it?

* - So, did Bo go down early because he used to run over fools, or was he subject to the same whacks to the knee that EVERY OTHER RB IN THE WHOLE FREAKING NFL is subject to? Wait...this is where Soonerfan comes in and says "well, Boz was bigger than Bo, and Boz had an even shorter career than Bo, so it means that small guys must have the advantage when it comes to a long NFL career." And then we can M2 that right into Tennfan saying "yeah, and if Reggie White was a little bit smaller, he'd probably still be playing today."

Keep stretching The Truth in lieu of facts.

Icky Woods, Eddie George, Jamaal Anderson, Terrell Davis and Earl Campbell are hardly stretches of truth...

Whatever. This has grown tedious. Have at it, hero...
