Can't say I've heard much of their music before but you guys seem to talk them up quite a bit. I'll check 'em out since I'll be watching SNL to admire tonight's host, Scarlett Johansson.

I think your first impression of Death Cab should be from listening to their albums first. They sound different live. Not bad, just different.

Much more energetic live.
At least when I saw them. But that was outdoors in front of 20,000+ drunks.

I decided to fall asleep at 10:15 and wake up at 12:30. Good timing if I wanted to avoid shitty sketch comedy. Bad if I wanted to see Death Cab.

You weren't on the highway when you awoke by any chance, were you?

Nope. Working off the white wine from dinner at the in-laws.

Definitely a studio recording type band...Saw them in October with front row seats, center stage (luck of the ticketmaster draw) and walked away feelin' almost nothin'. Probably won't even remember going to the show a few years from now.

I'm not really that big of a fan, and when I saw them, I thought they were pretty darn servicable.
Then again, I was drunk as all hell, chatting up some hotties(who drove my drunk ass home), and Death Cab was just setting the table for TMBG...and I only paid $5.
So there could definitely be some perspective issues at work.

Fortunately they can write pretty catchy tunes because lyrically, Gibbard is just terrible.
"Like a goalie tending the net in the third quarter". What the fuck!

I didn't think they were all that bad. I wouldn't go out and buy their CD either.
