friend made me a DVD with these two in them......pretty cool stuff. Ted Leo, Ian Mackaye, Wilco, Tortoise, Bob Mould, and local bands in respective scenes.

a concept where local artists play in an abondoned house that's about to be destroyed along with the history within. i liked it a lot.

I have the D.C. disc, and want to get the Chicago one too. My only gripe is they're too short. One song each? They could've had each group do a short set and fill up the disc.

i think the DC one is better. FWIW. like donovan says i don't understand why spend 80% of the time setting up/down and not sneak in a few more minutes of tunes... once you are set up.

but they wer gonna do it in a day, from 6 AM to 9 PM.

FWIW: Donovan, the CHicago one is about 46 minutes long--10 minutes longer than the DC one. i noticed this today. somewhat a better value, i sp'ose.

My favourite part of the DC disc is Bob Mould. And I just found out he's playing an acoustic show here next month. Should be stellar.

Mould loves that 12 string. in about 1986 i saw the Huskers in OKC (with the Flaming Lips opening--they opened for practically everybody)....and they played 2 45 minute-ish sets with a Mould acoustic set in the middle. all the "punkers" were pissing and moaning and Mould told them to STFU, and asked "how do you think i wrote all these songs?". that shut em up. i was impressed.

never talking to you again on Zen Arcade is one of personal faves.

i really dig that first cut on the DC one and the Weird War cut "AK-47".

Sure he is. He's playing with Amy Farina, his partner in The Evens.

Brendan Canty is the guy i was thinking of (organized it, which is kind if what i meant originally but fucked it up). and Donovan is right. IM is on with the Evens. i was trippin' there for a minute.

Aside...Brendan Canty worked at Yesterday and Today, a great record store in DC that we would pilgrimage to. He was a nice guy, and would talk to us gangly gawking teens with nary a snooty glance. I remember buying the "No Thugs in Our House" single from him...good times, I guess.
