Lefty, about Brackett

Post by PSUFAN »

PSU has been able to tempt Pat Devlin ($$ PA QB prospect) into a visit, despite his Miami verbal. One of the reasons he was not high on PSU earlier (aside from the concerns about the team that were answered by an 11-1 record) was the simultaneous recruitment of Brett Brackett, who you saw and didn't rate highly.

Now, there is talk that Brackett would make a good TE prospect, as he is 6'6" and 220-230 at this point. Given your earlier observations, what would you think of this idea - Brackett to TE?

Not sure how I missed this the past few days.

I think the kid could be a great TE. Think David Thomas of Texas. Granted I just saw him play one game so it could have just been a bad day for him the day I saw him play. However, I would feel more comfortable with him at TE than at QB.

One thing he isn't is fast, so TE could be a nice fit. He would need to add some weight to play there, but he would also need to add weight to play QB at PSU. His 3000 yards over two seasons and seeing him play in person just don't impress me that much. There are HS QBs out there that throw for 3000 in a season.

All that being said he would be a nice QB recruit for RICE, but I still don't see it in the Big 11.

With Anthony Morelli and now Pat Devlin, it might be in the best interests of Brackett to consider the TE position. PSU has also added a top TE prospect, Andrew Quarless. Recruiting has been going gangbusters of late.

I wonder though if Brackett doesn't decommit. With that much other talent comming in he may want to go somewhere else and play the QB position.

It may indeed happen. In other news, did you see Jimmy Shaw play in the Orange Bowl? He did well on the DL.
