Denver meets with TO
"If it would work anywhere, I think it would work here because of the guys in the locker room," Nalen said. "Guys would keep him straight ... I think he'd conform. He'd fit in here. He'd fit into any offense. He's a great player."
Exactly what Philly thought with the strong locker room they have.. and that worked out well. Good luck with him Denver...

T.O. sucks. The only way this acquisition works out is if Denver wins it all next year, because there's a guarantee the entire team will implode under the weight of TO's ego any time after that.

Shanny probably thinks he'll be the one to "cure" TO.

I don't see it happening. I'm sure they'll sign him and then the second his ego gets in the way or he starts running his mouth, he'll be another Maurice Clarett.

Most fans here do not want to see TO on the team much less in our city. But knowing most Bronco fans, they'll boo and boo and boo him, but the very second he makes an acrobatic catch for a TD, they'll think he's the best thing since Elway and claim to have loved him since he first got to Denver. And then, being the fairweather fans most Bronco "faithful" are, if he should drop a pass or run his mouth, it's back to the original hatred.

Granted Owens is one helluva WR. But, his off-field antics, mixed with his selfish TD celebrations will not bode well with Mike Shanahan and I only see this pathetic waste of a contract making it to the first game of the preseason.

Yeah that plan worked out great in Philly, didn't it?

We look forward to the inevitable implosion.
Fear not, Dan Snyder will play the role of Bodyguard to Carl Peterson's Whitney Houston and intercept the TO bullet before it hits KC.

Broncos: Will Ricky be a mile high?
02/02/06 12:24 PM
THE NEWS
The Denver Broncos have had at least two internal discussions about acquiring Dolphins running back Ricky Williams, although the two teams have not talked about a deal. The Denver Post reported that Broncos coach Mike Shanahan would consider trading for Williams, but only if the team decides not to pursue free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens.

Oh please, please let this happen. My keeper team is hurting with Domanick Davis on thin ice.

Ricky Williams....hell yeah. He'd give Larry J a run for his money for next year's rushing title.

Yea, there's a lot of situational RBs contending for the rushing title.

The thing is, he'd be the man if he came here. Not a RBBC back.

Here's some things to ponder:

1. Tatum Bell isn't going anywhere

2. Mike Anderson will still be on the team

3. One of the reasons cited by Ricky Williams for leaving football was that he wanted fewer carries.

4. Shannahan is addicted to the RBBC approach

Bell isn't the answer as an every-down option. Anderson is getting so old that the talk is Ron Dayne could move ahead of him on the depth chart next year. Neither of these guys is a stud, they are just products of the Denver zone blocking system.

As far as Williams wanting fewer carries, why would any running back want fewer carries? The more carries the merrier for most backs. Then again, he is a pretty strange motherfucker.

Which is why Shanahan will use Bell as a change of pace back the same way he did this year. As long as Bell is healthy, he will eat up 5-10 carries a game.

Ricky's a fucking stoner. Need I say more? For all I know it interferes with his yoga or some shit.

Maurice Clarett? When did Maurice ever play, let alone do anything in the NFL?
d-townmike wrote:Most fans here do not want to see TO on the team much less in our city.
Actually most Fans here are just like KC Paul “What ever it takes to win” A recent poll done by 950 The Fan says 2 out 3 fans want to see TO play for the Broncos.
Truth is… If TO becomes a problem, Shanahan will take immediate action like he did with Portis, his problem never did make it to the locker room!
d-townmike wrote:But knowing most Bronco fans, they'll boo and boo and boo him

He didn't because he was a cancer, just like TO will be if he even gets signed. If that happens, most likely he'll just be yet another wasted aquisition like Clarett was.
Truth is… If TO becomes a problem, Shanahan will take immediate action like he did with Portis, his problem never did make it to the locker room!
I 100% agree....hence why I believe he won't even make it past the first game of the preseason. TO is not like Portis. His ego will be a burden on that locker room during training camp.
WRONG!!! You obviously don’t know us
read my very next sentence. Once he does make that acrobatic catch for a TD, fans here will suddenly believe he's the next Rod Smith or even Jerry Rice and will firmly believe they had loved this guy since the talks of him being signed. And then, the very first time he drops a pass, it's back to the hatred that fans are expressing of him right now.

I'm not saying all Bronco fans are fairweathered. I'm saying is that most are uneducated and fairweathered idiots who are just stuck in the past.

I still consider myself a realistic fan. I love the team, but just a lot of the decisions they make both on and off the field just baffle me and them even considering signing TO much less Ricky Williams just makes me wonder what the hell Shanahan is thinking.

Name a "problem child" that Shanny has "cured"?

Shannahan is more of a "second chance" guy.......

Sauerbrun comes to mind immediately.....and Myers, Brown and Warren

but personally I think owens is a waste of time....I don't think all of his baggage is worth the benefit he might potentially bring....

There is a definite segment of the Bronco fan base that are wimps (excluding me). These are the fans who sell their tickets to the Steeler fans for the AFC Championship game or the fans who leave the game at halftime or anytime long before the game is decided. The people here in Denver also don't know shit about football in many respects, unlike the east coast cities where people axctually understand the sport beyond a rudimentary level.
