Is anyone else watching this?

First of all, between statments when the crowd is clapping, they always switch to a shot of some of the weirdest people sitting there clapping. We had John McCain who looked like he was having a seizure, then we saw Stephen Hawkings wife, then we saw some guy in an African Headress sitting next to some tribal hunter.

Then we had a shot of John Kerry and his mistress playing sudoku in their laps, completely ignoring everything else that is going on.

When he quoted a letter from a troop and had his parents stand up, they were conveinently seated right behind Laura Bush, so she stood up and shook their hand. Sure, they hadn't met before. But meanwhile, she has a muslim and a chinese person sitting next to her. This is all too staged.

I would damn sure expect that the State of the Union address would produce something more worth watching than say, the Golden Globes or MTV awards.

There's prolly a special on VH1 about some 80's hair bands right now.

On a side note, I thought his jabs at the Republicans was pretty funny. Now if only the Senate could put that much energy into their work.

How about the part where he said "congress failed to act on my SS stuff last year" and the Dems all stood up and cheered like mad? That was funny as hell...

I like the Presidents speech. I esp liked his take on bi-partisanship. I think both sides need to work towards a halfway point and meet each other in the middle on certain issues. Other issues like dependency on foreign oil is an issue that shouldnt be two sided. Too bad the Democratic Response was doom and gloom. Well, what else is knew from their party. All they do is harp on negatives yet give no solutions. They are the main reason for the partisanship in this country. Too bad they will never see it.

OK, I realize that the State of the Union is about as spontaneous and unscripted as Monday Night RAW, but is it really necessary to have a standing ovation every 45 seconds? I kept expecting the camera to pan back and reveal
