The Cult is playing March 14 in Tulsa. At
this place.
Tickets don't go on sale until Saturday, but I pulled a fraudo and found a fan site where if you register, they let you buy early. Already got my ducket, with no service charges.
Looking forward to having no voice on March 15.
Complete tour schedule here.

Saw them back when they were in their prime and they sucked. Can't see them being any better now, especially now that Astbury has the stench of the Doors on him.

Never seen them. Mixed reviews of their
DVD, but most liked it.
Cains Ballroom is an historic venue, with a capacity of about 1,500. I guess I'll find out next month.

I was there too. I had a black T-Shirt on. DID YOU SEE ME?
Good show, good memories. Damn sure ain't gonna ruin it by seeing Ian prancing around in his depends talking through the songs nowadays.

e,
Are you able to make it? I've heard it's sold out, but I've gots connexions and stuff. If you're able to make it down, I'll get you in.
Stick it in your ear
Cause it ain't exactly clear
What you people hear
I tell you that's right, oh yeah
Sucker in the middle
Blowing hot and cold
Cracking his whip
On the American horse
He's gone crazy, completely crazy
Trying to tame the American horse, well
He's gone crazy, completely crazy
Trying to tame the American horse, well
Feather in his mane
Showing no fear
Of a twisted shady fool
I tell you that's right, ah-ha, that's right
Truth's a mighty clear
Forever on and on
Never break a spirit
Of the American horse, well
Don't you shoot him down
He's gone crazy, completely crazy
Trying to tame the American horse
He's gone crazy, completely crazy
Trying to tame the American horse, yeah
He's gone crazy, completely crazy
Trying to tame the American horse
He's gone crazy, completely crazy
Trying to tame the American horse
Yeah, yeah, yeah
![Image](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/04/The_Cult_Sonic_Temple.jpg)
Crazy
On the day they tried to tame the American horse, yeah
Crazy
On the day they tried to tame the American horse, ow
Riding on a pony
Riding against the wind
And in came Brando
And he told it like this

Never seen the Cult, but I saw Bonham open for ELP. Good drumming, bad music.
Jason Bonham isn't his dad, nor was he even the best drummer that evening. Carl Palmer freaking rulezorz-btw.

OK, you guys missed a pretty damn good show last night. It wasn't perfect, but it kicked ass nonetheless ...
-- Billy Duffy was a monster on the guitar. Sounded as good or better than most of their studio stuff. Dude is still the cleanest, most badass, in-your-face power chord player this side of Rudoph Schenker or Angus Young.
-- The band was LOUD, as they should be, and were tight as fuck. The setlist included:
Li'l Devil
Sweet Soul Sister
The Witch
Wildflower
Revolution
Spiritwalker
In the Clouds
Wonderland
Brother Wolf, Sister Moon
Rise
Rain
Fire Woman
Peace Dog
War
(encore)
Edie (acoustic, w/only Ian and Billy on stage)
Electric Ocean
She Sells Sanctuary
(2nd encore)
Love Removal Machine
-- Several of the songs Ian completely nailed vocally (Rise, She Sells Sactuary). Some he couldn't hit (Rain, Brother Wolf and Sister Moon), which was about the only disappointment of the show.
-- The show started about 9 p.m. and was over about 11. No opening band.
-- The T-shirts were of the album covers (Love, Electric and Sonic Temple). I bought a black shirt with this on it, and will probably never wear it again, or at least very sparingly:
-- They also recorded the show live and had CDs of it available about 15 minutes after the show. I bought one of those, too. It's through a service called "Instant Live." The Cult is recording each show on the tour live and making them available online, or on CD, if you're at the show. Pretty cool. I can upload a few songs from the show on You Send It, if anybody is interested.
The show was the best hard-rock concert I've seen in years. I met several people who drove from small towns around the state (a couple of hours in some cases). There were a ton of hard-core fans there. Ian commented a couple of times about the venue, Cains Ballroom, about how special it was, and that they'd be back. I hope so.

Cains is a cool venue, for sure. It's developed a decent rep for "alt-indie" shows and while OKC, Tulsa, Norman have had fairly solid scenes and bands......keeping clubs and venues in business was always the big problem. no venues, no touring acts, bad for club owners, end of scene, or has to start over from scratch....etc. Denver's live music scene has exploded with the increased wattage of the CU radio station from just on campus to all along the front range. students at OU have tried to get some piece of the OU station for years, but Boren has shut them down. when i was in high school, there was at least a "college music" show on it on teh weekend late at night. and it's impossible to overestimate how much OKC/Tulsa commercial radio SUCKS.
Pixies did the same thing with Instant Live last year.
i think the stuff from Love would be harder to do live. i'm not the biggest Cult fan on earth but i liked that record alot when it came out. would have liked to see Duffy play The Phoenix live.

Same here. I also would have loved to have seen "American Horse" from Sonic. The set was a fairly decent mix from most of their albums, though.

Oh, and one more thing ...
Did I mention Billy Fucking Duffy?? After "In the Clouds," and right before "Wonderland," dude gets up to the mic and says, "How's the guitar sound?"
Then he says something else about Morrisey's band being a bunch of "journeymen" (Morrisey played the previous night at Cain's) and just strums the white Gibson (I believe) -- the same one that was used on the entire Love album -- complete with feedback, and dude says: "I mean, that's a guitar sound you can take to the fucking bank."
Me: [emoticon to show pissing pants, worship and pride all at the same fucking time] [/God damn, this dude gets it]
Not that I hate Morrisey or anything, in fact, Meat is Murder is probably one of the best alternative albums ever recorded, but we're talking about a fucking ROCK concert here, and Billy sort of drawing a line between rock and alt., masquerading as hard rock.

I'll have KatMode hook a brotha up via her hubby, when I see them next. I have a feeling he'll be needing some stuff to upload, and I'll be happy to help him out. I'll let you know when the operation commences.

i don't know anymore than you do about it outside being the record store geek in high school. and that Johnny Marr of the Smiths was a really innovative guitarist and i bet Duffy appreciates that....more than some guy playing for Morrissey on a has-been tour for a pay-check. my sister was saying Morrissey played in Dallas for 60$ a pop.
no thanks.

Ooooh....a little looksy at the music listings says that Mudhoney is playing at Dante's tomorrow night, which is a fine venue. Might be busy, but I'm going to try and get it together. Haven't been to any shows since I jumped on the wagon.
And it's just about getting to that "tie-a-flannel-around-your-waist" time of year for weather, too. How fitting.

Speaking of 90's grunge bands, Dinosaur Jr. is coming next month to this club at the beach. Thinking about going, but tix are $25! Are they worth it? I don't know...
