Wow that is a horrible hit, reminds me of the Big 12 championship game when fat OT Mike Williams was going after some Colorado player that picked off a Simms pass and ran into Cedric Benson. At the time that was the most violent colision I had ever seen.

That was pretty bad, but gotta say I think this one is just as big a hit if not worse. TCU's receiver broke his jaw in 3 places and his facemash was shattered.

Big Time hit for sure. Too bad #3 acts like such a big piece of shit. It is prolly cause he never had a good hit on anyone himself, just celebrates others hits. The first fist pump is ok, but when he moves in over the player for the second one he should have been tossed.

a few years back Grant Pearsol from USC had a hit on a Houston player that was amazing, and the best part was that nothing but the Houston players pride was hurt

I remember Bryant Westbrook absolutly destroying Randy Kinder in '96. Powlus was running the option to the short side, saw Westbrook coming and pitched. Kinder was out before he hit the ground.

Matt Leinart had a pretty big hit on a Hawaii DB on a play where Reggie reversed the field his frosh year, they have a video of it on the herd site

The best USC QB hit in recent memory was Kyle Wacholtz running the boot to the left, and squaring up a San Jose State DB. Absolutely crushed the kid and the entire stadium goes "Ooohhh!"

I remember a hit by a certain Notre Dame player during the '95 season on Delon Washington at the goal line, resulting in a fumble. If I remember correctly, the guy broke his shoulder making the tackle right? :x

Ha! Kinnon Tatum in '95. I totally forgot about that hit. That was awesome. He was fine, I thought the USC back was hurt on the play.

My favorite in recent years was in the championship game between Miami and Nebraska, when Johnathan Vilma whacked the TE from Nebraska, whatever that dude's name was*.

* - I believe has since been changed to More Applesauce? That's what everyone calls him anyway.

Tatum was the dude that flew over the line and popped him in the backfield. Rossum was a smurfish corner who weighed all of a buck fifty. I don't remember him laying anyone out.

I don't have a active link to the vid, but there was a hit from last year that an Okie State safety put on a guy...I thought the dude was dead. His helmut came flying off like a popped zit. Absolute destruction.

The recent one that sticks out for me was during the Miami-FSU game maybe two years ago? Was a rainy day.

Miami DB layed out the FSU WR, Samuels or something like that?

Robinson's hit in PSU's link above was a good as any since both knew what was coming and each thought they were going to lay the other out. Only one won.

Wish I had someplace to link it but the hit Rufus Alexander made against Tulsa. I hurt hearing it... across the stadium.

My favorite hits by Texas player that didn't involve them knocking each other out of the game were as follows

1. Jerry Gray's hit on Bo Jackson that seperated his shoulder. Not a great hit but he did run him down from behind, that in itself was impressive.

2. Tony Brakens running into Mack II, he knocked Jonnie Mac stupid for 2 weeks.

3. Nathan Vasher's hit on some Texas Tech gunner that was supposed to catch a pass from a punter that hung up the ball. I thought the kids head was going to fall off.

4. Westbrooks hit on Kinder mentioned by Killian was not only a hell of a hit but a momentum changer in that game.

Some guy has film on all these hits I need to post them if I can find em.

Wasn't that in the 3rd quarter? I remember watching that game at home, I was getting ready to go to my high school homecoming. I had to call my date and tell her I was running late, because I wasn't going to miss that fucking game. I know Texas took the lead, but ND came back and won on a last second field goal by Jim Sanson.

The funniest thing about that play is when they ran the reverse angle, slow-mo. You could see Powlus look past the line (had the DE beat) and he was about to turn it up field. He looks into the secondary and pitches it to Kinder. Kinder, the ball and Westbrook all met at the same time. Awesome hit.

One of the best I ever saw was Ohio State's Zack Dumas lighting up some Auburn RB on a screen pass in a Jan. 1 bowl game. ESPN Gameday kept showing it for years.

Yep. That was another home coming game for me. The funniest part is right after Army scores the touchdown, the sideline mic picks up an Army fan talking to his buddies, saying things like "If we get 2 we win! Let's go for the win!" After Ivory stops him, you can hear the dude saying "Can't you kick a fucking field goal?!?!?"

Thats hilarious. I used to watch the Irish almost every Saturday b/c they were always on and I liked Powlus for some reason. Autrey Denson is the best back thats school has had since Reggie brooks, although I think Walker will pass him on the all-time list.

Not sure when it happened during the game I just remember that at that point in the game Notre Dame had the ball and all the momentum. When Westbrook made the hit it charged up both the offense and defense and they began to play lights out. They took the lead but Notre Dame pulled it out in the end. It was Par for a Jonnie Mac team.

That year Texas had 3 pretty good runningbacks, Shon Mitchell, Ricky Williams, and Priest Holmes. But Holmes was the odd man out in the lineup.

I remember them talking Williams up in the pre-game about what a great athlete he was and how he was technically a walk on because he played minor league baseball. Wasn'the #11 that year and played some fullback?
