How I'm going to cure Monday Night Football telecast blues

I come from the time when Dandy Don and Howard used to rule the booth. Each Monday night you tuned in because you didn't know what the hell Howard was going to say and if Meredith was going to pass out in a drunken stooper. Now, over the past few years the networks have been trying to find the right amalgamation of announcer, analyst to satisfy our needs. So what are we left with? I’ll tell you, a cast of misfits! Joe Theisman? I’ve met this guy at a bar almost twenty years ago and he was about as entertaining as watching a kid get lead poison from eating paint chips. Tony Kornheiser? I have to believe the only reason they selected him is because some NYC graduate thought his name alone is funny.

Then we have Mike Tirico? The only thing this guy has done to date is the recent Orange Bowl. The NFL/MNF producers dropped the ball on this one. There are plenty of NCAA announcers out there that would have blown away these stooges.

With that being said, I bring you Frodo’s solution and boycott of this dreadful concoction they call a play-by-play booth.

First thing you’ll need is the equipment.
1) Television with TiVo
2) Stereo or boom box near the T.V.
3) A glass/pint of good beer, Newcastle/Riggwelter Yorkshire Ale or if you can find any Dreadnaught IPA you are set. For you college kids, Pabst in a Silo can will do!

Now, since the radio broadcast is usually on a ten second delay you will need record the game from your Tivo! IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU RECORD IT! Reason being, if your wife or daughter walks in to see what’s happening on “Oprah After Hours” while you’ve stepped out to relieve yourself you are going to have to resync the two again. By recording you can go zip right the radio broadcast sooner.

That’s it my fellow Trolls! Best of luck!

Honestly if this was all you posted, it would have been a decent thread.

I would've preferred to still see Al & John do the MNF games. If it ain't broke...

Yea, Myron has definitely passed the torch to senility. He was the best in his day. But that day is gone. The Post Gazette did a story on Myron during the Colts game with an audio clip. He's not sounding so good at all.

Here's some clips of Myron from back in the day.

Myron's voicebox just won't play along any longer.

Bullshit. The next time anybody tunes in to a football game because of the announcers will be the first.
Not true. Women and fags love announcers.

Maybe you were to young too remember it! But Howard's halftime shows were the only way I could see highlights of the Vikings if the game wasn't broadcast. There will never again be another Cosell! No matter how much Keith Obermann tries, he alway sound like a wanna-be!
