The NCAA is also investigating alleged violations committed during O’Brien’s coaching tenure with the Buckeyes. It is expected to decide within the next few weeks on penalties for the program over the nine alleged violations — seven in the men’s basketball program, one in football and one in women’s basketball.
WTF? Is OSU trying to give FSU and Miami a run for their money?

We dont have any NCAA violations, nor has FSU been on Probation for football. Take that shit to the Alabama, Michigan and Miami boards.

RACK and really this does nothing but good for the University. First of all, we look good to the NCAA as we "imposed" their sanctions before they were ever involved and secondly, it makes Karen Holbrook (OSU prez) look like an ass. The sooner we get her out of there the better.

Nope. I think they're starting to pull away.

So does this mean their lauded incoming class will be seniors before they sniff the tourney? Probation is a program momentum killer.

Still trying to figure out how in the hell O'Brien is coming out of this smelling like a rose. I realize that the university is part of the problem, but the buck stops with the him.

I think the courts should award O'Brien $1.00 to reflect his involvement in this mess.

I read where they are not going to be banned from postseason play.

I hate when the kids and coaches that weren't involved in the incidents end up footing the bill. There ought to be another way.

Taking down the FF banner hurts, we've been there.

They have to pay back NCAA tourney money. They'll have four years worth of NCAA dancing, including a FF, taken out of the record books, and they'll be on probation for the next 3 years. And for the final blow to the nutsack, they have to PAY the guy millions that was responsible for it all. Nice try, but there's no way to downplay all that.

Can easily make light of it as long as post season is not affected to possibly lose the incoming recruiting class and even the coach. All of the individuals involved are gone.

As far as millions to O'Brien... the amount has not been decided yet. To be decided at another hearing, if a settlement between the parties hasn't been reached before then.

Thanks PSU, you guys made a hell of a go at it.

Regarding the sanctions, while they do hurt and I hate to see those banners go, it really isn't that big a deal. Luckily, our success this year makes the rest of it a little bearable. There will be no ban on post-season play so all of our recruits will be here. We are still at 11 of 13 scholarships but that obviously didn't hurt recruiting. And we just need to get some more banners. Additionally, I think it is quite funny we will be paying the NCAA with the money they give us for our run this year. Fucking Miles Brand, what a waste.

Looking back, I am glad they got rid of O'Brien. First of all giving money to that kid, whether it was allowed or not, was a bad decision. Second, recruiting guys like Boban says something about your character and finally, ignoring, hiding or not knowing about these things going on in your program is inexcusable. While I would not have said things like that 2 or 3 years ago, the facts leave only one intelligent position.

So, we will move on. Is it as bad as UM's sanctions, maybe but either way I think Matta will make it all OK.
