Were Talk Talk totally underrated back in the day?
I know they've been around for years, but I'm just now discovering the other stuff beyond the one hit we all know and love. (You know you love it, don't be hatin'.) I'm gettin' really into it. Can't believe they weren't bigger than they were, but by the sound of this new (new to ME) material, they weren't as mainstream "It's My Life," so maybe that's why? Definitely has a more "underground" feel...
Anyway, this all started when I was reading Death Cab For Cutie's playlist on iTunes, and one of the members highly recommended the song "New Grass." I downloaded it and thought it was awesome. Hence, my late discovery...
EDIT: If they were bigger than I remember, then please disregard this post. I was young back then and not cool yet... ;)

If by "different," you mean they cranked up the tempo of the drum machine by 3 beats-per-minute when they remade tunes by Duran Duran, then sure.
Me and some other 30-somethings were jamming hard to Talk Talk on the radio a couple of days ago-btw. Some baaaaad singing up in that car.

i bought the record that was after the one with It's my Life....it was pretty good. a solid record. to me, they were kind of in the Simple Minds category. a band with a quality or consistant body of work that got overshadowed by one MTV "hit".
