Who's on your team's radar in the 1st rd....?

It would be verrah much 'Al' to swing a deal with the Texans to move up to the top spot in order to nab Reggie Bush.
Heisman, he's fast, 'we need to score points'......etc, etc....
Bush doing spot duty with L. Jordan, returning kicks and punts, playing some slot receiver.
Can't say I don't find that thought very attractive.

I don't see it happening though.
'Fraid Al would get bent over by the Texans to make this deal, and say what you will about Al, he has still shown in recent years that he is more often than not the bender, not the bendee as far as player deals are concerned.
Also, a whole boat load of $$$ would be tied up in signing Bush.

Better option is to try move up a couple of spots to try to get Mario Williams.
I think they'll have to move up a couple of spots to get him, but maybe not.
What a beast this kid figures to be coming off the edge.
Pair him up with D. Burgess and watch the fuck OUT.
This would help Oakland's secondary immensely.

Other possibility is AJ Hawk, although I somehow just can't see Al being overly excited about taking a linebacker this high in the first rd of the draft.
The guy looks the part though.
Prolly be a 'solid' draft pick.
But then again, you never know.

Raider fan, what think you..?

Fans of other lesser teams, you can speak too.

Al would have to broker a deal with the Jets or the Saints because the Packers have Mario Williams on their radar at number 5.

BROWNS aren't moving from #12.

D'Brickashaw would be Niiiice...as would AJ Hawk.

No official first round pick this year for the Skins, although I suppose Campbell could be considered this year's pick. He will probably still be the clipboard jockey this year.

Agree with both you and 'Tart-but I think we will land both of these guys when Al franchises CWood and trades him.

Unless Wood takes a pay cut and a safety spot, I dont see him coming back-especially after our young cats nutted up and played pretty damn good in his absence.

His days as a corner are over-but i'd absolutely LOVE to see him shine as a safety ala Rod Woodson.

If thats the case, then I want Mario.

The best DE available at the time.. probably Tamba Hali or by some miracle, Mario Williams.
They have 2 extra 4th round picks have have not been told what compensation they'll get for Burgess. I'd like to see them get a #2 for him in which case they might have room to move up in the draft.

* Edit..I did not realize this until now but the most a team can get for compensation for a free agent is pick at the end of the 3rd round. Based on the variables that go into that decision, the Eagles will most likely get a pick at the end of the 5th round and compensatory picks can not be traded.

maybe Corey Webster from LSU.

Traded our 1st round for Eli, won't be many highly touted O-lineman or corners come the Giants 1st pick (# 11 in Rd. 2). Definately going to need some luck.

Sadly, Mario Williams will be gone. The only chance he's available is if Green Bay drafts offense (hey Cheeseheads, take LenDale White!) or trades out.
AJ Hawk will probably be available and is tempting for the Raider's 3-4 but the LB position seems to be deep in the draft amd as Pop speculated, Al may hesitate drafting a LB this high.
Haloti Ngata will be available and might be a solid choice. he has size and can move. However, the knock on him is whether or not he'll be an impact player his first year.

If you pressed me, I'd guess Hawk.

As a Ducks fan, I'm very familiar with Haloti. And he will very much be an impact player out of the gate. Probably become known as the strongest man in the NFL rather quickly, and at his size, he has unheard of speed. The problem with Ngata, is that all that size, strength, and speed just work out to be a bad physics equation -- his legs had trouble dealing with those stresses when he was 18 years old, and they haven't gottyen any better since. A healthy Ngata is going to dominate like the game hasn't seen in a long, long time, but the question is for how long, and how many games a year. Don't get me wrong, the dude is a warrior, and if the bone isn't poking out through the skin, he's going to want to play, but he's been injury-prone. Ask the USC fans here what he did to Winston Justice and Co when they saw him last season -- dude almost singlehandedly bitchslapped one of the great O-lines in NCAA history(until the coaching staff made a few adjustments at halftime, which basically included triple-teaming Ngata every single down, which pretty much ended any chance for a Duck win right there -- SC's other 8 were still to much for U of O's remaining 8). Hell, in college, dude used to play special teams, and would literally walk through the line and block kicks, and won a couple of games by doing so. He really is all that and more, but he's an injury-prone "all that."

That said, I'd love to see dude wearing a Niner uniform. LenDale would make a nice addition, too.

The Niners need to address the need for a DT this draft , since BY may be playing his last year there , so Ngata may be a wise choice , given the combine . I don't know if they are still gonna stick to the 3-4 , since they don't have the depth at LB at the end of this season than they had at the beginning , and if both Julian Peterson and Derek Smith leave , they are fukked there as well . The Defensive backfield ain't bad , and with a soild front 7 , they can get by with what they have .

Offensively , FB , TE , OT , OC are real needs , and I think a TE is a first round priority , if it's Vernon Davis . Eric Johnson is never healthy , and there hasn't been a solid TE there since Brent Jones . WR can be adressed in FA , and they're deep at RB . A FB they can find in the later rounds .

And QB. But in reality, when you suck as badly as the Niners, it's probably best to start with the D. It'd be cool if Ngata could learn from The Master, BY.

Spend a year or so building a defense, then it's time for as many O-linemen as they can get their hands on. It's strange how much better offensive players look when the line doesn't suck.

Who knows what's going to happen with the Steelers. A lot depends on what shakes out the next few weeks in the free agent market. If Randle El leaves (almost a certainty) a wideout like Sinorice Moss could be on the map. But they might also be looking for a CB if Deshea Townshend doesn't sign. Also, when you're drafting 32nd, its hard to say who's going to be left.

The real fun begins in the later rounds , with a lot of movement , and good value in talent there .

A great link for mock drafts:
http://www.hailredskins.com/MockDraft.htm

I have no clue which direction the Lions will go in the first round. I don't know what Marinelli, Martz and Edwards think of this team so I'm in the dark on what they will do. From the mocks I've seen, they could take a defensive end/pass rusher (Kiawanuka), a cornerback (Williams), an offensive lineman (Scott, Winston, McNeil), a linebacker (Greenway) and I've even seen a mock with them picking Jay Cutler, the QB from Vanderbilt. I'm safe in assuming that they won't take another WR.

I'm no GM (sin, Marcus Allen), but I would think the Lions would be nuts to do anything besides stack the O-line as much as possible. They're into their current offense so deep at this point, there's no turning back now. It seems like they've spent the last few drafts trying to build up a passing game that has yet to materialize, and at this point, there's no turning back.

Especially with Matz as the OC there .

His offense tends to get the QB's killed . Rumor was Bulger wasn't too happy with Martz because he was gettin killed having to pass the ball 90% of the time . Then again , Bulger wouldn't have had the success he had without Martz .

Martz can create a fine QB , but he can kill them just as fast .

I agree. If I was to choose one area of concern for this team, it would be the offensive line. Backus is a free agent and doesn't sound like he wants to be back. That opens up a spot at tackle most likely. Other than Backus, I think the only other linemen they've picked in the first round recently were Aaron Gibson and Juan Roque...eek and double eek.

I'm leaning to him more and more. I have sick feeling the Jets or the fudgePack will grab Hawk with their pick. I like Ngata because he is a great player on the field and seems like a good guy off it. We need more character guys in Oakland. And with the departures of Ted washington and Sapp(its just a matter of time before both are cut loose) we need help up front. and Mario williams will be gone before we pick.

I don't think Igor is doing too badly. I dunno, ask the Boltsfans here. I don't really think he's a letdown by any means.

I remember a couple of times he lined up at OLB for Oregon...freaking scary...not so good in pass coverage...not so good for the QB's health on the blitz.

And Junior was my man, but for some reason, my gut feeling said that he'd never do quite the damage in the NFL as he did in college. Don't know why I felt that, since he's a big strong dude, but I never thought he would be a star.

But neither of those guys can carry Haloti's jock. He's the most ready-made DT I think I've ever seen coming out of D1. The ONLY question with Ngata is how long his rickety legs are going to hold up, if at all. Dude could be a cripple by the end of training camp. On the other side of the coin, dude's had bad legs since he was 18 years old, and that hasn't stopped him from becoming a top-ten pick in the draft, so who knows? He's definitely one of my all time favorite Ducks (although the bastard left early, but with his health issues, I would have done the same thing in his shoes), and I hate to knock the guy, but it's all about his legs -- the guy limps on his "good days," and hardly walks on the bad ones...but I'll be damned if that guy doesn't bring it every time he takes the field, gimp or no gimp. Whichever GM picks him, they're either going to look like a genius or a jackass for doing it -- there won't be any middle ground on that one...mark my words. If dude's body cooperates, he WILL be the MAN. But that's a big "if."

Tremendously nice guy, regardless. Well liked by teammates, coaches, and community. Truly a charmer, which certainly doesn't hurt.

Not at all. Dude is a solid pro. One those lunch pail types who quietly anchors your line.

Wasnt he hurt last year? From what I did see of him he's a John Parella type. Not the best DT out there but works the hardest.

...concur Dins, Igor was a pleasant surprise but didn't get much pub. with Merriman tearing up the league. He's a keeper IMO

Igor Olshansky (E-gor, ol-SHAN-ski) was steady in his first season as a starter along the Chargers’ defensive line. A defensive end in the team’s 3-4 alignment, Igor helped contribute to the league’s third-ranked run defense. The Bolts held opponents to just 81.7 yards per game on the ground and yielded only two rushes of 20 yards or longer all season.

Olshansky is the first player from the former Soviet Union to be drafted by an NFL team. Igor, who is Jewish, immigrated to the United States with his parents from the Ukraine when he was seven years old. Selected 35th overall in the draft after leaving Oregon following his junior season, Olshansky was one of the strongest rookies in the league. At the 2004 NFL Combine, he bench-pressed 225 pounds an amazing 41 times. At Oregon, he set a team record with a 505-pound bench press and during his on-campus pre-draft workout, he increased his 225-pound bench press to 43 reps.
Perhaps some of Olshansky’s strength rubbed off from his grandfather, Abraham Rubashevsky, who fought for the Red Army in World War II and was wounded 11 times, leaving his left hand disabled. Perhaps some of his athletic ability rubbed off from his dad, Yury, who played basketball in the Russian Army. Igor didn’t play football until his junior year of high school. Following in his father’s footsteps, Igor played basketball at St. Ignatius.

True to his family’s Russian heritage, Igor speaks fluent Russian. His non-football interests include military history and martial arts.

In July, Igor married the former Liya Rubinshteyn. The couple exchanged their wedding vows in San Francisco.

I know this isn't the forum for this, but a pet peeve must be aired:

the Ukraine
Where is this "the Ukraine" place? I'm familiar with the country known as Ukraine, I'm not sure where the "the" in front of it comes from...maybe watching too much Hogan's Heros? I know all kinds of Ukrainians, and I think I manged to say "the Ukraine" once before I was sternly corrected, with rolling eyes and all.
True to his family’s Russian heritage, Igor speaks fluent Russian.
Is the writer on crack? Didn't dude just tell us he was Ukrainian? So, which is he? Two different countries, and even when they were the same country, there was mutual hatred between the two republics. Some Ukrainians even consider it an insult to be called Russian (I guess they remember some dude named Stalin or something), and I don't think I'd be inclined to walk up to a 300 pound Ukrainian-American and insult him by dropping the "Russian" label on him. As far as speaking Russian...uhm, all Ukrainians do...it's kind of the national language.

Sorry for the OT rant. Like I said, a pet peeve. OK, I'm off to a Ukrainian dinner.

Ethnic Russians have been known to live in THE Ukraine.

According to the CIA World Factbook, which is certified accurate for all non WMD related information, this is the breakdown of languages spoken in Ukraine:

Ukrainian (official) 67%,
Russian 24%
small Romanian-, Polish-, and Hungarian-speaking minorities

As for THE Ukraine, I always figured it was meant to distinguish it from that other Ukraine in Ohio.
