Autistic kid scores 20 points in 4 minutes...

We talk about feel-good stories in which mentally-challenged kids are given touchdowns or a pin in wrestling. This kid actually earned his points. He's put in for the last four minutes of the last varsity game in his only appearance on court of the season with his team leading by 30 points. He misses his first two shots and then nails 6 3-point shots!

If you don't like the autistic kid dropping 20 on you in garbage time, then get better.

Hilarious.

Man I am usually pretty harsh on shit like this, but if you can hit 6 threes in the 4th quarter alone,"as long as you did not take like 20 shots" that is solid.

When I was in high school, there was a kid that the manager for the varsity team and he had an artificial leg. He got to suit up for a game his senior year and I believe he put a couple through the hoop in garbage time.

Great story. I'm also glad the other team wasn't dicks about the situation, and actually let the kid shoot.

Caught this on sports center this morning. This kid IS NOT truely autistic. He appears to have a mild disability such as sensory intergration disfunction or perhaps arsbergners but he is not autistic.
Not by any means cracking the kid or the story just calling it as it is.

I'm just a little too old to be playing high school basketball. Just sayin'.

Nolesy,

I heard him referred to on local newscasts as a "high functioning" autistic person. You could be right about Asperger's, but as I understand it, Asperger's is basically the same thing as autism in higher-functioning individuals. From what I understand, it's possible for someone with autism to be mentally retarded, but it's not possible for someone with Asperger's to be mentally retarded.

Perhaps I need to clarrify my point. Aspergers and sensory intergration dysfunction are both "mild forms" of autism. One is considered "high functioning" with this disability because it is on a far end of the autistic spectrum. When I refer to true autism I speak off a much more dibiltating, and trajic disability. So technically he is autistic.
My son has sensory intergration dysfunction. He is extremly smart and has an incredible memory, if it is something he is interested in.
He does have some mild ritualistic behaviors, is emotionally a few years behind his developemental age, and tends to be a loner around other kids. However we have never allowed him to be "disabled" as we push him and expect from him the same as we would from any other of our kids.
