The sky is falling according to Len.

Id like to think this will all go away .......... but theres a whole lot of money involved. That always throws a wrench into things. Good part for me is, none of my money is involved.

Well, it could be. Do you like to attend live games? Expect ticket prices to skyrocket to account for the increase in player salaries. Also expect the Chiefs, with an outmoded stadium and relatively crappy cap positioning, to get hit among the hardest.

I love football but I don't care about the arguments rich players have with even richer owners. If they actually have a lockout or a strike, let me know. This is just another story the media takes hold off and makes it sound more dire than it really is. I'll worry in two years when this really matters.

Too bad you didn't really actually read or understand this thread.
Every team has to be under the 95M cap.

Chiefs will cut Will Shields, Warfield, Dexter McCleon - decent players, but no worse shape than everybody else.

FYI - Your doinks cut Trevor Pryce, Mike Anderson and Putzier today.
So, maybe you'll wanna give it more than a drive by next time:

Broncos save almost $15 million: The Broncos shaved $14.99 million of cap room Wednesday, but it came at a big price for talent.

The Broncos released three starters -- defensive end Trevor Pryce, running back Mike Anderson and tight end Jeb Putzier in moves that pull the team within a couple of millions of the salary cap.

• Panthers release three veterans: The Panthers cleared $4.64 million of cap room Wednesday by releasing three veterans -- running back Stephen Davis, running back Rod Smart and defensive tackle Brentson Buckner.

Davis was expected to be released because of his age and his injuries. His release saved the team $2.8 million. Smart, a good backup running back and solid returner, was a little bit of a surprise. Buckner is one of the team leaders on defense but he's played 13 years and is 34 years old.

• Bills cuts Adams, Milloy: The Bills, who entered Wednesday $2 million under the $92 million salary cap, made their second major cut of the offseason by releasing former Pro Bowl defensive tackle Sam Adams.

Safety Lawyer Milloy and tight end Mark Campbell also were released in moves that saved the Bills an estimated $9.1 million in salary cap space. The team has not determined whether to release veteran receiver Eric Moulds, who rejected the Bills' offer to restructure his contract earlier this week.

• Dolphins release Madison, three others: Forced to slash contracts in order to get under the salary cap for 2006, the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday released four veterans, the most notable of which was four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Sam Madison.

The moves saved the team $14.4 million in cap room, but cost the Dolphins some key contributors, and three members of their secondary. In addition to Madison, the team released fellow cornerback Reggie Howard, safety Tebucky Jones and offensive tackle Damion McIntosh.

• Titans release veteran tackle Hopkins: The Titans began their roster purge to get under the cap by releasing veteran left tackle Brad Hopkins.
Hopkins' release will save the Titans $4.6 million of cap room. The team entered Wednesday $18.7 million over the salary cap.
Hopkins' release wasn't a surprise considering he's 35 years old and he had an $11.1 million number that had swelled because the team kept using cap relief deals to keep him on the roster.

What trouble are they in? Most of the guys who got them that far over the cap should be cut anyway. Their problem was last year, not this year. The teams that are in trouble are the ones like Washington, who have just barely scratched their way back to contending only to have the door slammed in their faces.

All those guys except Putzier were basically goners in one form or fashion. Now Denver needs a tight end, big friggin' deal. If the salary cap disappears, at least we can eventually claw our way back with the revenue or stadium generates; how about you lucky dogs in KC and Oakland??

Oakland drops off 18 mil just by cutting D. Gibson and K. Collins.

Another 7 mil by cutting D. Walker and R. Stone.

When you're 4-12 with trillions over the cap, and you play in a baseball stadium and are among the league's worst in attendance...well, let's just say it'll be fun being a Broncos fan if the salary cap evaporates!

Different year, same cap cutting moves for the Silver and Black. BFD.

Our cap situation will be fine while getting rid of useless turds once again.

Rack the Eagles who are about to have rougly $20 mil to use for free agency at a time when they have some rather big holes to fill.

It's only 'overspending' if they aren't cut.

3 of the 4 are LOCKS to be cut.

The 4th, Collins, will restructure or be cut.

Actually it would, seeing as how all of the above are well past their prime.
I'd say Jimmah had a pretty decent year. The other 2 might come cheap for the reason you stated, and would certainly benifit a young corps of d-backs and LB's

Don't forget our leading wide receiver is well past HIS prime.

Danny boy is to blame for the Redskins possible demise. His inability to effectively manage a cap is on him, not anyone else.
