Twins-Braves in '91 will always be a series that I'll remember fondly. That's probably when baseball was at the pinnacle of its popularity in this country before the NFL took over after the lockout. Puckett was always a player I respected as he and his Twins battled the Tigers on many occasions through the years. I was still young to remember the '87 season when they played in ALCS...that's probably the last year the Tigers were relevant. Sad news indeed about KP and it was a shame his career was cut short like it was. RIP

I guess nobody ever expects to see someone die of a stroke at 45. But Kirby was making KC Paul look like Kate Moss and taking on Jabba the Hut type proportions. It is tragic, but I guess you could hardly say it was unexpected.

I wonder if the wife he used to beat and whose head he held a gun to will miss him? Great player.......not so great person......

He's burning in hell...and the world is a better place.

Wife beaters are the lowest form of scum on earth along with pedos. KP is, was and will always be a worthless skidmark.

Fuck him. I only wish his death came sooner.

Wow. Tell us how you really feel.

There is probably more to this story than a stroke, but we'll never hear it.

This article sums up just about all the dirt ever dished on Kirby.

He was not a nice guy. Still, he has two children. And for that, his passing is tragic.

Kirby was the LT of baseball: fantastic player, questionable human being. I didn't know him personally so I can't sit here and judge him, but so many negative things were said and written about him by so many different people, including people close to him, it's hard to discount. But the guy was a great player, no denying that. Such a great clutch hitter and he had an absolute GUN from the outfield. Only Raul Mondesi came kinda close to gunning down as many base runners that I saw. How many times did we see him throw it on a rope from the warning track to home plate to hold up a runner at third? Great player, great great player.

RIP Kirby

Combine what you said here with what IndyStroFanFrisco said and you can see why it wasn't a surprise to me. I just really wasn't surprised in the slightest.
