GILLISPIE WAS WILLING: Jerry Cox, a prime Texas A&M booster, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that Billy Gillispie was willing to leave Texas A&M for the right deal. That deal being a big-bucks offer from a school with great facilties. Missouri has some of the best facilities in the nation. “One of (Gillispie’s) concerns as little as a few months ago was, ‘I like it here, and I’m comfortable here. But so far I haven’t seen the level of commitment that’s convinced me I can win here at the level I aspire to win,’ ” Cox told the newspaper.

There is now a $40 million capital campaign under way at A&M, a chunk of that aimed at upgrading A&M’s hoops facilities to a level that already exists at MU.

Hmmph. Reed is a nice gym though, isn't it? certainly top half of the conference.....no? i'd be surprised if Mizzou can outspend ATM. Byrne is all about spending the money....isn't he. He can't be nearly as dumb as Mike Alden.

didn't Alden wiegh in on some kind of "Coach with Family Values" horsehockey...? And Billy Clyde isn't married...

and therefore he's a catamite. ;)

Reed is absolutely awesome. Consider the source of the article though. Might just be wishful thinking. It will be hard to build something at A&M even though "building champions" is the AD's motto. We got the $$$. Just need to spend it to keep him.

If MU goes after gillespie as their First choice, then the AD has failed the program. much better candidates out there who are interested.

MU has a ton of $$$ in their basketball program. This isn't football. The basketball program has MAJOR boosters.

Snyder got 1.2 million. without even 1 year of head coaching experience.

PS i think he's posturing to get more $$$ or for school to spend the jack on better facilities.

He's not top 5 on anyones list for MU candidates. he would be like selecting Gary Pinkel, while Nick Saban wanted the job.

oh wait, we have Gary Pinkel

I think you are way, way, WAY off on how good of a coach Gillispie is. He is getting major run on the IU boards as a candidate to look at. He'll be at ATM as long as he needs to be to get a premiere job somewhere he covets and not a minute longer no matter how much jack ATM throws his way.
