My employees are in revolt

I have a 3 Big Twelvers who work for me and a fourth who is an Big Ten (Meetchiken) goober. One is a fellow Sooner and has been my best friend since... well even before I was born. Outside of a couple of years our fathers were at different postings we have been inseperable.
For months we have been looking forward to this extended basketball weekend. I have the other three who aren't normally here working (they get to work at the office with the constant ringing of the phone) here with their laptops and we expected to get very, very little done for the next couple of days. To put in other terms if it wasn't deadlined before next Tuesday don't expect it. BtH I am sure can respect just how "lazy" people in my proffesion are.
We chose my place for three reasons. One is that we can be hooked into the internet at my place with the wireless router and still get a little bit of work done. Two is that I am the only lousy slob who can afford to feed and keep the four of plastered for four days in a row. The third is my most recent Bday present. As many of you know my family was affected greatly by the last hurricane season. Ivan destroyed my roof, my hardwood floor (standing water :( ) and most importantly my entertainment center. My wife repeatedly told me how proud she was that I had chosen to replace many other things before I chose to replace my "lifeline". I didn't feel so great about it but I knew what was the right thing to do. :( For my birthday both sides of the family and some friends pulled together and got me the best present I had ever received. One of our friends is carpenter and he built me the largest, grandest, and most beautiful entertainment center I had ever seen. The families chipped in and replaced the large screen DLP along with two other televisions that fit perfectly within the EC. While in slumber they and friends got together and as quietly as possible snuck it all in and set it up and even configured my stereo system to it for perfect sounds (it really is almost just like being at the game only with a better view). When I woke up they were all downstairs and when I saw the gift I was litterally in tears.
This morning we discovered, all set with Beer mugs and bells on that in the last 48 hours ESPN has made the decision to remove the Big 12 Tourney from the ESPN+ schedule. To say the least I am upset, though I handling it better than I would normally expect, although tommarow when OU is playing I can gurentee that will be the case if I am having to listen to Bob Barry on Sirius Radio. Me and my friend go half and half on these packages since his family virtualy lives here as well and only sleeps at their own home.
Next year our money will go to the Fox packages as we may not get what we really want but atleast we will get what we pay for. :(

it's good to have friends. the move to ESPNU is bad for me too.....since i watch a lot of Sooner games in the multi-media classrooms at CU I have keys to. but, they don't have ESPNU.
(you have to listen to the crowd noise with BB sr., that's really all you can do: "The Sooners are in a man to man or some kind of zone defense.....").
thanks for painting the picture Bob.
and then there's always: "shot, off the heel of the rim no good". long pause........."and a layup at the other end."

We sent this to ESPN just a few minutes ago... We substituted I for we as it sounded better but it was written by both of us.
I am highly upset with the programming practices of ESPN Inc. For weeks and sometimes months they advertise games as a part of their ESPN+ basketball package and within days of the event they remove it from their schedule and move it to ESPN U. This has been common practice for ESPN Inc., especially this college basketball season.
I am, as my SN shows, a Sooner fan but I live on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I purchase the Gameday and + packages so that I can see the games that are advertised as a part of the line up in advance, especially those from the Big 12 region. I do not mind that ESPN shows a bias towards the east coast and it is totally understandable with the population demographics. The east coast is theirs, and everyone elses, cash cow; I understand it as it is the same in my business. You run a business to make money and what makes them money in Coll.Bball is eastern seaboard. My problem is not with ESPN's personalities voicing their opinions, even though I disagree with some/much of them; that is what these personalities are hired to do and they do a very good job at it. My problem is the way that ESPN has treated the consumer, me, you, and everyone else who purchases their PPV packages, specifically Big 12 and Big 10 fan who have been treated with absolute and utter indifference this last college basketball season. Multiple times this season games have been scheduled for weeks and months in advance as a part of the ESPN PPV line up only to be yanked from the typical subscriber (normally with cable) and moved to ESPNU. This practice has become common place and will be the reason that I no longer purchase their packages.
The Big 12 and Big 10 have experienced the brunt of this practice this season. I am encouraging as many Big 12 and Big 10 fans and alumnus to write and/or email their schools and respective conferences to not renew the current contracts with ESPN when they come due until they can prove that we are not going to be treated with same level of indifference that we have come to expect from the company in Bristol, Conn.
The root of this problem is the grudge that ESPN and the communications companies have with each other over service fees. I am now of the opinion that ESPN does this intentionaly to upset the consumer at the communications conglomorates when in fact the it is ESPN that is doing this to us. That is why they intentionaly do not offer ESPN U to those companies and only the Satelite Dish companies so that they can intentionaly foster ill will from the consumer towards their cable provider.
I am going to make sure that I inform as many people, in as many public forums, as possible of this practice and who the blame should be applied to as well.
From now on my money will go towards the Fox packages. I may not always get what I want with EoxSports but atleast I will receive what I pay for.
ESPN ay remove this from their Board but I will be posting it on as many public forums as humanly possible and hope that others do the same or write up their own. Until I am treated with the same level of respect that the ESPN executives would expect in their own endeavours I will not be one of their consumers.

Rack the fuck out of SCS, 'cept ESPN is in Bristol, not Storrs.

If you haven't sent it yet, I could also make some grammar edits for you.

My employee wrote it. And he wrote in about 4 minutes. He pounded that crap out like a mad man, I thought he was possesed. If he was worried about grammar he would have nailed it, believe me. He graduated Suma Cum Laude in Rhetoric. Best man I have but I may be biased since he is also like a brother to me.

Either way I am wicked impressed. That sounds like the entertainment center of all entertainment centers. When can I come visit? Jan 1st 2007?

Eh, thats funny cause 88, FLW, L45B, PDragon and the rest of buckeye nation plan to be there as well. I could deal with an OU vs OSU title game.

I wouldn't mind that horribly either. But I would like to see how your defense looks before I start planning on it. I know the hype machine is kicking into full gear, as it should be, for tOSU but you're replacing
a lot on defense.
Which forum are we in?

What do you care, Crown? You like two teams. Surely ONE of their games will be on at all times. Haven't you heard the Caine / Hackman theory?

Thank You ESPN!!!!
I only hope they continue this instead of making me watch the ACC on three different channels.
Anybody else getting the Big 12 on ESPN2?

You have satelite though correct?
I don't... well I do but I don't right now

. I haven't lived in my house in almost a year. I am kind of stuck with cable and when I get out of here we're going to do some upgrades as we planned originaly. The floor needs to be tiled. This isn't exactly a seasonal rental we are in right now. :(
I miss my home. :(

I've got Directv, but my son is on cable and he's getting the same programming. He lives 5 miles away.

Since it's been brought up, AFAIK we don't get ESPNU, even though we do have digital cable. Anyone know the deal on that?

You can't get it through a communications company. They only offer it to satelites. They did this intentionaly. ESPN and the cable companies have been having a pissing contest over services fees for a couple of years now and this is their way of giving them the finger.

ESPN U has been on ESPN2 today. ESPNU isn't supposed to be offered through the cable companies.
