This is going to be badass. There are at least 2 of us coming from Arizona so far. Some friends from Nebraska are making the trip out too.

I'm halfway tempted to score some acid for this, but I wouldn't even know where to start looking. Red Rocks fucking pwns.

Just got back into town today from CO. I hate to say it, but the show was kind of underwhelming, all things considered.

The GO Team opened up and just gave me a 30 minute headache. Somebody please tell the annoying British twat that raps for them that it's not 1995 anymore.

The Flaming Lips played a solid set. They did a great cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody," somehow making a song that's been played out since Wayne's World sound fresh again. They also did a cover of "War Pigs" that wasn't as great. Wayne just can't even come close to replicating Ozzy's wail, and the barrage of images of Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice on the big sceen seemed a little over the top. I think just playing the song at this point in history is statement enough. You don't have to bash us over the head with the message. Overall though, the Lips put on an entertaining show. Not as good as when I saw them opening for Beck a few years back, but still good.

As much as it kills me to type this, Ween was actually a bit of a letdown. Maybe my hopes were too high, but you'd think that when you have damn near 10,000 people packed into arguably the greatest concert venue on earth, you'd pull out something special. A cool cover maybe, or a few songs off The Pod that they haven't done in a while. They were pretty much by-the-numbers, though. Deaner went off on a couple bad-ass solos in a few songs, but it was far from a magical performance. I guess they did break out "Puerto Rican Power," but that's not really one of my favorite Ween b-sides/obscure songs. Even their encore was only one song (they usually play two or three).

Overall, it was far from a bad show. It just wasn't as amazing as it could have been, given the venue and the reputation of the two bands. I'm still glad I was there, though.
