Spring Practice

It's about fuckin' time!

I'm headed over to campus in a few to catch the 2nd day of practice. I need a little "fix". I'm interested to see how Dunbar and the spread offense look.

The qb position should be interesting, with Reed and Longshore going at it. I just want a qb that doesn't throw 6 interceptions a game. Please...

Have any of you been out to see some spring ball?

March 30th....you're almost there.

Trojans fired it up yesterday. I think with the way the season ended last year, the landscape of college football going into this season is as interesting as it's been in some time. Can the Trojans maintain? Can the Horns repeat? Can the Buckeyes put it all together for the title? Are Charlie Weis and the Domers ready to go to the next level? Does the SEC still suck? ()

I'm as geeked as can be right now, and we're still 5 months away from the opening kickoff.

Interesting day to say the least...

I park near the rugby practice field, just off stadium rim, and see this older black gentleman looking through the locked fences of Memorial Stadium. I asked him why the gates are closed, and he says he doesn't know. I then take him about 100 ft. towards the south end of the stadium where I use to sneak into the stadium for games. Same glitch in the fence is still there.

So we slide through the fence, with him having a hard time since he's a little overweight. He tells me his cousin is on the team #5 DeCoud. So were sitting on the top of the south rim of the stadium talking about renovations being done on the stadium, when security comes by and says that practice is closed.?

I'm thinking bullshit, since I just called the football office a few hours earlier and they said it was open. He says we have to go... then says to me, that he remembers me and to follow him.

So we walk down the steps to the south entrance and he tells me to head to section G where the reporters are(the only people allowed in). Rack me!

It turns out that some tard on "The Bear Insider" had talked too much about the "spread O" being run on monday and Tedford got a little anal and closed practice an hour before it was to start. Unreal.

So it's me and about 12 or 14 reporters sitting in the G sec... with me sitting and talking with two local reporters. Then Aaron Merz(second team) All Pac Ten from last year sits down with us and the fun begins!

He starts telling us about his agent(same as Marvin Phillips) and this and that bullshit. He talks about the east west shrine game he played in San Antonio and how he thought it would be more football friendly there, but it wasn't. He mentions how they had to bus the kids in from Houston 3 hours away to come to the game. I tell him, I lived in h-town for 13 years and we just started bullshitin' Cal style.

It was funny as shit having him tell me about how fucked up doing MRI's are when you're 6'4 and 340... and how you have to have your right arm pinned behind your back for 40 minutes and trying to fit into the machine.

Anyways, the team looked very good, playing 26 five minute quarters, and doing sprints after practice.

When practice ended, I followed the reporters down the steps onto the field and asked questions of some of the players (sup, Desaun Jackson and Marshawn Lynch) 8)

I still dont think they know I wasn't one of the reporters.

Rack me, and the start of spring ball!!!

I needed the fix.

It's good to get some football in the blood.

P.S. Tedford said that the guys have to wake up at 5:00 am on friday, and be on the field by 6:25 am on friday morning. He wants to get in a bunch more before spring break... looks like I'm gonna miss friday practice.

P.S.S. Tedford told me he is headed to florida to meet with Urban Meyer in a week to talk some ball.

Sin,

Thanks bro,

I remember Aaron talking about how good Kyle looked.

We'll see...

I'm good with a kid that looks like V. Young...

Cal could very well, be the best team in the country.

Spring ball started for the Seminoles last week, and things have been going well. So far, there have been no injuries (knock on wood) which is a big plus b/c the past couple of Springs have not been kind to the Noles. Drew Weatherford looks so much better than he did a year ago. In 3 scrimmages so far this season he is 20-26 for about 300 yards and 5 TD's w/ no picks. I know its just Spring, but last year our offense was unable to move the ball all Spring which hurt us during the season.

The O-Line is healthy an opening up holes as well. Good to see our RB's breaking off 25-30 yard runs w/ consistency.

Our DEF isnt playing as well as they were last year at this time, but there are some holes to fill and that is expected. Myron Rolle dominated the first scrimmage and I have no doubt he will be starting at Rover when the season kicks off in Miami. Our young LB's are fast as hell and I think they wont miss a beat.

Our spring game is April 8th and it sucks cause I am in a wedding in West Palm beach the same weekend. I wanted to get a glimpse of Drew and Rolle before the season started.

He has a great shot at starting with the type of work ethic he has. Our whole season will depend on this group (along with play calling of course.)

Defense will be shaky from the CB injuries and also the fact the entire defensive line is fighing for starting jobs. This will be good by the fall, competition breeds success. Also, MRG looks to be for real
