Very slight upgrade over the departed Carrie Collins.
Good arm, good mobility, light above the neck.
Leadership abilty...? :?
I'm flacid.
If this is all Oakland could do to fill it's QB need then I'm hoping Walter shows enough in camp and preseason to give the staff a mind to get him on the field.
The way I see it now, I'd rather lose with Walter than with Brooks.

Explain this shit, Davis defenders:
Tom Walsh: hired as offensive coordinator. Last time was OC and in the league was 12 fucking years ago, when his shit schemes were getting changed at the line by Hostetler. Images of Hoss blasting his bitch ass on the sideline and the many arguments the 2 had still burn fresh in this Raiderfans mind.
re-signing Derrick Gibson: There was no need to do this at all. None. There were many better choices out there than this piece of fucking garbage.
Aaron Brooks: Im too fucking pissed to get into Al shitting all over himself and the team with this one......just. fucking. horrible.
Not making any moves in Free agency to shore up a huge weakness on the team: Offensive line and Linebacker.
Fuck you Al.

Does this mean Harrington becomes Boller's back up?
AND
Do they share the same jersey when they are switching between quarters battling for who can suck balls the most? :|

Walsh - I wasn't impressed either, James. Art is 'comfortable' with him, as Al is with Art. Oh well........
Gibson - No harm. Signed for a minimal contract. Might end up being a 'bit' player.
Brooks - I gave my take. This signing does nothing for me.
No moves yet - Wait until the dust settles after the draft. The off-season still has a ways to go.

TERRIBLE signing.
Al lets a strong armed weak minded overrated QB go just to sign an overrated strong armed weak minded QB? What was wrong with giving the reigns over to andrew Walter and letting him develop? All we have done is stay in neutral.
BTW will Brooks be playing LB? How about safety? Because those were the positions we NEEDED help at!!!!!
QB Brooks agrees on two-year deal with RaidersBy Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com
Unrestricted free agent quarterback Aaron Brooks, the former New Orleans starter released last week after the Saints signed Drew Brees, has reached agreement with the Oakland Raiders on a two-year contract.

2005 SEASON STATISTICS

Financial details of the contract were not yet available, but league sources said Brooks' compensation will be commensurate to that of many starters in the league, averaging between $4 million-$5 million. The contract will be signed later this week.
The agreement provides the Raiders, whose quarterback depth chart included only untested youngsters Marques Tuiasosopo and Andrew Walter, with a proven starter and a veteran who has amassed impressive numbers in the past. Oakland recently released Kerry Collins, its starter the past two seasons, for salary cap considerations, and has been considering a number of potential replacements.
It is not surprising that the Raiders settled on Brooks, because he has the kind of live arm and deep passing skills that owner Al Davis has long coveted. :x
Brooks, 29, met with Raiders coaches and team officials over the past two days and actually prolonged his stay by one day when Oakland indicated it might be interested in signing him. There was also interest over the weekend from Green Bay, the team with which Brooks began his NFL career in 1999.
But the deal with the Raiders, one of the few franchises in the league without a projected starter heading into the spring minicamps, certainly represented Brooks' best opportunity to regain his status atop some club's quarterback depth chart. Tuisasosopo is a terrific athlete, but only has limited experience in his five seasons, and has been inconsistent when given a chance to play. Walter is a big, strong-armed passer, but the third-round choice in 2005 did not take a snap as a rookie.
Some believe that Walter might be the Raiders' quarterback of the future, but the former Arizona State star needs time to develop, and the two-year contract with Brooks will give the Raiders a chance to groom him.
In 85 games, including 82 starts, Brooks has completed 1,563 of 2,771 passes for 19,156 yards, with 120 touchdown passes and 84 interceptions. He has thrown for over 2,800 yards in a season five times and had four straight 3,000-yard campaigns snapped last season. The former University of Virginia standout, chosen by the Packers in the fourth round in 1999 and then traded to New Orleans in 2000, averaged 15.4 starts per season from 2001-2005.
Brooks started all 16 games in every season from 2001-2004, but then was benched for the final month of the 2005 campaign, snapping that streak. While there is no denying Brooks' physical tools, some teammates have questioned his leaderships skills and toughness under fire. Quiet by nature, Brooks can be aloof at times and some have perceived that as a lack of passion.
That said, he was arguably the best starting-caliber quarterback still available in the free agent pool and is still young enough to have several productive seasons.

I'd rather have foster Brooks at QB than Aaron Brooks.
at least Foster is good for a one liner or two.

You know, cat, it is fair to note that Aaron Brooks has put up better numbers for his career than Dungver's Plummer has.
Similiar type numbers, except Brooks' TD/INT ratio blows Plummer's out of the water.
Put that in yer pipe and smoke it.

It's really not that bad of a move . Hell , FF guys who own Moss are salivating already . Besides , it seems better to reload at QB than rebuild with Walter with Moss entering the backside of his career .
Some Brooks numbers to chew on :

Upside is he's relatively cheap, he's got an arm, he's got good legs, and he's good in the red zone.
He'll get the ball in the end zone.
Downside is he's not shown himself to be much of a leader, he's not that bright, and his completion percentage is too low.
Important QB qualities are LEADERSHIP, SMARTS, and an ABILITY TO KEEP THE CHAINS MOVING.
I think Brooks rates average at best in all three of those areas.
Brooks was apparently told he will
compete for the yob.
It remains to be seen who is under center to start the season for Oakland.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Oakland make more moves at the QB position before all is said and done.
Being merely better than Plummer is not what we aspire to be.

Brooks has good numbers for two reasons---
1. He'll drive your offense 90 yards down the field only to fumble the snap away on the five (or throw it to the other team in the end-zone)
2. Most of his numbers are due to the fact that they he wouldn't do shit in the first half and had to pass the rest of the game to try and overcome a 2-3 touchdown deficit.
TRUST ME you don't want this worthless sack of shit. He FINDS ways to lose games.

The N.O. Saints defense ranked 28th, 28th, 14th, 26th, and 27th in the 5 yrs that Brooks started for them.
Looking at those stats it's a minor miracle the guy pulled off a 41-41 record as a starter in NO, don't you think....?
Find me a QB that can overcome that sort of defensive futility and I'll find you a first ballot HoF player.
Give the guy a chance.
