Former Cincinnati coach Bob Huggins has accepted an offer to become
Kansas State coach, The Eagle learned tonight from a source who spoke
to Huggins and confirmed the hiring.

"He accepted tonight," said the source, who did not want to be
identified. "It's a great situation for Kansas State."

The source said a news conference is expected Thursday.

There was no word from K-State athletic director Tim Weiser. At
tonight's WNIT game at Bramlage Coliseum, he maintained his silence
regarding specific candidates to replace Jim Wooldridge.

"I wish I could tell you more, but I think you know how we do this,"
Weiser said. "It's not probably the easiest for you, but for us it's
the right way to do it.

"I think we've focused in on a smaller number (of coaches) than
probably what we started out with. I can't say we're any further or
closer than where we might have been a week ago. We're still
collecting information."

Huggins could not be reached by The Eagle today. Huggins' agent,
Richard Katz, did not return phone messages.

K State will never be good again until they go back to the two toned purple uni's.

yeah, huggins is a great hire :meds: :meds: :meds:

the guy wins at all costs, has issues, his players had issues, and the ncaa had issues. he is not what the university needs after the clemons and laurie fiasco.

Huggins is using KSU to prove he's clean and sober, and bounce to another job in a year or 2. He won;t be a Wildcat for long.

Isn't Alford being considered for the Mizzou job? Thought I heard his name come up somewhere.

you ain't getting Belein, he just signed a big deal last year. it's not even a lateral move fro where he has WVU to Mizzou.

Turgeon is a Jayhawk. that ain't gonna fly with the Bill Quantrill gang.

Altman is a KSU re-tread. you guys are too pompous for that.

Anderson is your best hire....but, he's a Nolan guy....who hates MU.

mu canceled the interview. noone as fans wanted him, he will get Big$$$ from iowa, that is why mcdermott took the ISU job, he knew Alford was staying. He was #1 choice to take over at Iowa if Alford left.
