Since none of us here were probably lucky enough to be 4-5 star athletes, if you would have been, what 5 schools would you have picked to take your visits.

Agree with B on Hawaii. I wonder how many recruits actually visit Hawaii just for the free trip.

All I gotta say is as long as my recruiting trips were like Ray Allen's in "He Got Game", I wouldn't give a shit if it was Sam Houston State or Ithica Community College.

Depends on what sport. I was recruited for a very minor sport in college and baseball before I broke my clavicle and caught Pnemonia in the hospital.

Football:
Oklahoma
Florida State
Alabama
Ohio State
Virginia

In Wrestling I made a number of Unofficial visits with my father but would have probably narrowed it down to officials for:
Oklahoma (ofcourse)
Pittsburgh
Northwestern
NC State or Nebraska
Lock Haven (Long shot but they were talking about offering me a considerable tuition package which is difficult to come by at a big program in wrestling).

Virginia has the nicest campus that I have ever seen. I think I would have been forced to learn to play LaCrosse with all the "talent" they have standing around their intermurals sidelines each spring.

I think Hawaii has something in place that prevents kids from just saying "free trip to Hawaii!" Or at least I've heard.

For me:

Official:
ND
ASU
USC
FSU
Texas

I live in close enough proximity to go to most of the Big 10 schools and ND, so I could hit those up on unofficials. I'd go to ND because I'd want the full treatment an official visitor gives. Going to UofM would be silly because I live 30 minutes from campus.

I'd be looking for the Jesus Shuttlesworth treatment, as Indy mentioned. 4 out of 5 ain't bad.

I was recruited in golf by these schools:

Sam Houston St.
Stephen F. Austin
Henderson St. University (Ark)

Schools I would have loved to be recruited by and attend for golf:

Texas A&M (coach Ellis told me to take a hike, baasically)
Arizona St.
Oklahoma St.

My visits...?

Well, if I'm a five-star recruit, I'm going to go where I WANT to go, so I'd approach the visits from another angle...

Which schools are desperate enough to make my weekend the proverbial, Johnny Be Good, ride of my life...?

I'm thinking schools that are second-tier or even third-tier in their own conference, but are DYING to get to the top...

-- Oklahoma State
-- Michigan State
-- Syracuse
-- Cal
-- Florida

As far as just wanting to go and see the schools, it'd have to be:

-- Notre Dame
-- Michigan
-- Alabama
-- Miami
-- Oklahoma

Well, if I had actually been good enough to play D1 football, I would've walked on at CU before accepting a scholarship anywhere else. But for the sake of argument, the other 4 would probably be...

ASU - The girls here are ridiculous.
Texas - Austin just seems like a really happening town.
UCLA - The last two letters pretty much say it all.
Hawaii - I'll never understand how they don't get 5* guys year in & year out. How do you turn up your nose at living for free in an island paradise for five years?

Honorable mention: Nebraska - just so I could accept illegal money from boosters, throw football games, and basically just do everything I possibly could to single-handedly destroy their proud football tradition.

Visits I would take now.

Navy - Top of the line instruction and a bowl program.
Texas - In state powerhouse, great business school, Austin, Tradition.
Penn - Ivy league, great location besides Philly as it is a day trip to either NYC or DC, winning programs in other sports, multiple seasons.
RICE - Need I say anything about this.
Oklahoma - This one is hard. I don't see myself fitting in or playing for them, but if we are just taking visits this would be great. Nothing against OU as I respect the hell out of their program and fans, but it has never felt like home.

Thinking back to the Stone Ages when I was a high school senior. Based on back then, my choices would have been:

1. Notre Dame: obvious.
2. Penn State: as a kid, this was my second favorite team. Penn State was college football in the northeast when I was a kid -- Syracuse's program was godawful in the 70's, and Pitt didn't really arrive until I was in junior high.
3. USC: tradition/weather/Song Girls.
4. Michigan: tradition.
5. Pitt: tough call on the last choice but I would have taken Pitt on balance (remember, this was the early 80's).

Having said all of that, had I been able to play football at that level, I'd have walked on at ND before accepting a scholarship anywhere else.
SoCalTrjn wrote:Pepperdine easily the most beautiful campus in the best location in the world
Having gone to Pepperdine Law School, no argument there.

However, there's no football team. If you're a D1 prospect, why burn an official visit on a school with no football team?

my top 5

1. Mizzou school needs that star to lead them to prominence, i would be that, nothing like turning a bad program into a top program, and your state school you grew up watching.

2. ND who gives a fuck about the actual school, being on National TV every week, only at ND can turds like Powlis be touted and cheered, as they failed and flopped.

UCLA Hot cheerleaders, cali connection, i score 5 td's by 3pm, i'm at Hefs banging playmates by 9PM.

Penn St Playing for JoePa would be an honor

Michigan great helmets, class of CFB. 100K+ every home game. beating OSU 4 years would give you legendary status.

Didnt think this was football specific, just if you were a great athlete, my bad. Id also have UCSB on there even though they have no football team. Santa Barbara is a great town, right on the water and they dont invite tons of outsiders to buy there. Kind of what Orange County would be if only people from OC were allowed to live here

Auburn? Auburn???

Been to their campus Chief? I mean don't get me wrong they have some good looking girls. My wife was raised an Auburn girl. But if southern girls are what you are looking for you should be joining me on my trip to Tuscaloosa, take my word on it.

BTW not to side track the thread but it looks as though the Crima.... Seminoles will soon be my adopted #2. :? I don't know how I feel about it just yet but it is beggining to grow on me. My wife starts class as a Crima... Seminole next semester. The Chop is done eaxctly like in Atlanta right?
