what's the best free tax software?

Post by smackaholic »

I've done my taxes online the past few years with aledged free software. Seems you alway end up paying something for extra features or to file your state form.

Any recommendations for a cheap fukker would be appreciated. I've received the usual spam from taxACT and turbotax and prolly a few others I can't think of. I will do a typical long form, itemized for mortage interest. Nothing to fancy.

ya cheap bastard
you have to pay to e-file
so it really doesn't matter
if you dont want to e-file
use taxact online and print them out

Turbotax has so greatly eased my mind about filing taxes in recent years that I am happy to give them a nominal software fee.

I have used taxACT for the past 5 years. I believe it includes a free Federal file, and you pay like $10 for the state form. Don't hesitate to pay the permit fees, and be sure to use the square-drive screws.
