This is tight. There is nothing worse than having a fun filled Sunday come to a grinding halt with a San Francisco vs Cleveland match up in December.

Since the phone hasn't rang for me to make the late TV season schedule  , I guess this will do.

The league is becoming unwatchable, and it's solution is to play dick-around with the schedule.
We need attractive games, damn it..!!!!!!!
Yeah, I have complete confidence that nobody is gonna get fucked in this process........team, fan, network, or sponsor.
GREAT job, NFL.

You're getting fucked but you don't even realize it.
Then again, it could be that you've grown fond of it.

Flex scheduling is great for the masses, but maybe bad for the likes of Raider fan who is practically guaranteed NOT to be flexed into any late season scheduling past Week 10, given their performance up to that point.

I remember the good ol' days of the NBA.
The Sunday doubleheader would feature Larry and the Celtics v. Isiah and his Pistons, followed by Magic and the Lakers v. ...... insert your favorite western conference slop
The next week it was Michael and his Bulls v. Magic and the Lakers, followed by Larry and Celtics v. insert your favorite western conference slop.
Magic, Larry, Isiah, Michael, ..... Bulls, Celtics, Lakers, Pistons......
Yes, feed the 'compelling matchups' to the masses.
The sheep are too brain-dead to recognize the MAJORITY of your product blows goats.
Compelling, compelling, feed 'em, feed 'em.....gobble, gobble......slurp, slurp, slobber.........
Ten years later......nobody cares about the NBA.
What happened, boss...?

Apples and Oranges, my brother.
The NBA's quick demise can be directed attributed to a few outstanding things:
1. Pro players caring more about making a highlight reel dunk than learning how to shoot the fucking ball. Brick after fucking brick followed by a sweet dunk makes that shit product unwatchable.
2. The league embracing that cunt Pat Riley and his shitbag defensive tactics that the worthless Knicks and Heat employed throughout the 90's. Cant shoot the ball to save your life? Go join Riley and whatever team that faggot is coaching to learn the horsecollar and hack jobs you'll be throwing down on those much more talented than you. Fuck stern for televising that unwatchable slop every fucking week. IMO the league still hasnt recovered from these 2 reasons. I could go more in depth about how even ESPN has a hand in reason number 1-but I dont fucking care enough at this point.
I still LOL thinking about how MJ and Phil got over on that pussy every fucking year
despite that bullshit Riley instilled in his talentless players, though.
Football wont experience that, Pop-There will always be those that enjoy hardcore Defense or Hardcore Offense-or those like us that enjoy all 3 major segments of football.
The only thing i'd put on par with the NBA is the refereeing. Shit is just horrible all the way around in both leagues.

In some respects it definitely IS apples and oranges.
Nobody cared about the NBA until Larry and Magic (and a little later, Michael) burst onto the scene.
Stern and Co. road that horse for all it was worth.
In some ways you can't really blame them.
When the next generation of NBA 'stars' were not as interesting as Larry, Magic and Michael, the league was buttfucked in the mouth.
It had/has nothing else to hang it's hat on.
The NFL seeing need to pimp 'marqueee' games at the expense of the 'have-not' games shows that IT is finding fewer places to hang IT's hat.
In time, there will be fewer and fewer of the 'haves'.
Well hell, parity has already seen to that.
Mr sheep fan is slow to catch on though.
One day he'll catch up with me.
In the mean time, under this current plan, fuckings are certain to take place.
As I noted earlier, fans, teams, networks, sponsors........
SOMEBODY is gonna take the hot one.
Mark my word.

Don't be a tard. The marketing had little to do with it. The pro game turned into a bunch of selfish, money-hording dickheads (TMac, Kobe, AI, etc.) that were out for the almighty dollar above all else, as opposed to players like Larry, Michael and Magic who played purely for love of the game and to win as a team. Fans generally related better to the players of the 80's than today's NBA Bling Blingin' Thugz.

That's true.
Joe fan did relate better to the star player of the 80's-early 90's than the star of today.
The NBA failed to make it's LEAGUE, in it's entirety, appealing to Joe fan.
They continued to put all of their eggs in the 'star player' basket, and now that that is no longer effective, the league is seriously floundering.
The NFL, on the other hand still DOES have appeal, as a league, to Joe fan.
However, by this public admission that only 'marquee' games will keep the attention of Joe fan, they are going down an embarassingly defeatist path.
Only SOME of our games can keep the attention of the fan.
This is bad, very bad.
You're training the fan to concede that MOST of the games aren't worth tuning in for.
Over time, this tactic will erode the fan base, just as sure as I'm posting in this topic.

Im not buying into the "marquee," thing. Fox and CBS still get the first choice. This is alot more about showing a game people might actually care to watch, and avoiding dog turd match ups.
A few examples, of an un-biased opinion:
week 14
13-0 Chiefs vs 3-10 duhs. No one cares.
6-7 Packers vs 6-7 Bears. 12-1 Vikes have won the division, and GB and Chi have already been eliminated from the wild card. No one cares.
10-3 Cards vs 10-3 Browns. Both are tied for first place, coming out of no where. Cards mvp candidate QB Joe Blow, and Browns new stud rb has 1500 yards, with 18 tds.
Come on tart. Care to give this a chance?

The only problem I see with it is the fan who buys tix to a late season game around some other event in his or her life...like work..and then the times or day gets changed on him.
Other than that, I would much prefer to watch a game with meaning then say a Saints - Jets matchup on Sunday night in late November.

I like this gem from the article...........
In recent seasons, the league has faced lower prime-time ratings because of poor late-season matchups
Poor late season matchups in
RECENT seasons.....?
bwa
Hey, I thought part of the charm of the socialist 'parity' agenda was keeping so many more teams in contention late in the season, hence keeping the fan interested late in the season.
If so many more teams are still in contention then how did the late-season schedule turn viewers OFF, ....... but just in recent years...?
Shouldn't the schedule of years-gone-by (pre-parity) have had more late season clunkers than in the current parity years...?
Duh, of course.
Nice spin job, league.
People are tuning OUT because your league in overloaded with mediocre teams who's cup runneth over with BLAH.
Your overly-packaged, sterile, everyone looks alike version of pro football is shallow and ultimately lacking in interest.
Jerking us around with your schedule checkers game won't hide the fact that the bloom is off the rose.

Wrong. As a result of parity, predicting who the best teams will be in the 2nd half is now
harder than it used to be. Back in the early 90's and before, you knew who the top 3 or 4 teams would be by season's end, with a surprise here and there. Now, you'll be lucky if half the teams you thought would be good aren't even involved in the playoffs.

Most of the teams making the playoffs now are only ever so slightly better than the bulk of the teams that don't make the playoffs.
In today's NFL you've got 3 or 4 pretty good teams, 3 or 4 abortions, and 24-26 teams that are essentially the same.
It's a pile of shit.

Much like your boring, repetetive "takes" on the NFL have been reduced to lately.
Here's a suggestion.
Don't like the NFL?
Feel free not to watch it or keep up with the current goings on.
More especially, feel free not to post that droning drivel here.

No, we all lose every time we read another one of your boring bitchings about the NFL. Go watch lacrosse or tiddly winks, faggot. I really don't blame you, though. It's not like rooting for the Raiders is like watching a real NFL team.
Go fuck yourself.

KALEY, you're the #1 flyweight on the board.
What's with you and your nic changes...?
Like a flighty teenage bitch who changes in-and-out of 3 dresses before going out on a date, you can't seem to settle on an appropriate nic.
And just like that little bitch, no matter which way you settle, at the end of the day you end up taking a good deep fucking.
You've got nothing.
Never have.
You're a bitter liquor store clerking douchebag.
Approaching middle age, you've never found success with a woman.
The NFL banks on ignorant sheep such as yourself.
