Calipari meets w/ Wolfpack

Possibility of K, Roy and Cap all in the same state, let alone the same conference.

He wants a Big East job. He would have been Pitt's 1st choice if Dixon left for Arizona State.

He is def a Big East guy. Maybe USF can steal him away? :D

It looks like State is down to Steve Lavin and John Beilein.

i think Beilein would have already gone somewhere if he was interested in leaving WVU. but, 2 mil per has a way of changing minds.

last week, Doyel and some other cat on CBSsportsline each had an article that just absolutely ripped NCSU and Sendek. it was harsh.

He would have been a lock for Pitt if Dixon would have left for Arizona State. I think McCullum is in for a breakthrough season in 06-07.

REJECTED

Now State is flirting with Phil "has Jeff McInnis driven your wife lately" Ford?

Watch out for Mike Brey.

Brey issued a statement saying he is staying at ND. As of yesterday, people (including one SEC coach) thought he had already accepted the NC St. job.

I kinda wish he was taking the NC State job. It would make the decision at ND a little easier.

Btw, I'm surprised that NC State is having as much trouble filling this position as they apparently are. Yes, I'm aware that they take a back seat in state to UNC and Duke, but this is a power conference, and the program is not devoid of tradition. I would have thought Calipari would jump at the opportunity.

Btw2, in doing a google search on Brey in response to this point, I came across a blog where someone suggested firing Brey and bringing D'OH back. I'm certainly not a huge Brey fan, but the suggestion as to his replacement was breathtakingly ignorant, imho.

Yeah, I saw that after I posted. The blog entry in question is from January. Even if he were still available, the suggestion is ridiculous, imho.

If Gary Williams leaves Maryland, Brey is as good as gone, IMO. And he is apparently not getting along with the AD.

Yeah, Gary isn't leaving anytime soon though, unless something totally blows up there. There was an absurd rumor that he was going to coach the Charlotte NBA team a couple days ago.

1st round losses in the NIT are a stepping stone to the NBA.

Obviously you are closer to the situation than I, but the ND guys were saying that the senario you brought up isn't as absurd as people think.

It's Sidney Lowe for State.
N.C. State is set to hire Detroit Pistons assistant coach Sidney Lowe as its new head basketball coach, sources with knowledge of the coaching search said today.

Lowe, 46, will replace Herb Sendek, who left early last month to become head coach at Arizona State.

Lowe was the point guard on the Pack’s 1983 national championship team and remains a favorite among many Wolfpack fans. Although he has not coached on the collegiate level, he has been a head coach in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies.

Lowe’s hiring would end an exhaustive search by NCSU athletics director Lee Fowler that has lasted more than a month. Texas coach Rick Barnes and Memphis coach John Calipari both were approached by Fowler but elected to remain at their respective schools.

Lowe does not hold a undergraduate degree from NCSU. He is in the process of completing degree work at Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Va., the school provost confirmed Wednesday.
